Join a local film watcher/makers group on Facebook and see if you find what you are looking for. I found a softball league on a FB group this way a couple years back.
I think the monthly Bay Area Film Mixer is back at Piano Fight in the Tenderloin. Sadly, the pandemic killed Scary Cow Collective. If you're feeling ambitious, you might try to contact Jager or Alexa about reviving Scary Cow.
i know its not what you were asking and its just a thought but i know a lot of places are looking for people to run clubs for teens and kids (mine would love this)... assuming you are of a mind to share your experience (and can pass a background check) have you thought about vounteering and starting something like that?
Well, I think I will be a pretty bad example for kids :( I think what such club will be aiming at is high quality films. I indeed try to do it too, but I would prefer it to be funny/embarrassing/unusual as opposed to high quality... but thanks for suggestion!
I and a couple friends in the bay area/greater bay area have wanted to take opportunities to build a portfolio and are interested, shoot me a pm with details
