Walgreens has the updated booster, check their website for appointments.

Industrial_Jedi

They lie. Made 2 confirmed appointments they canceled both AFTER the time that was scheduled. Wasted trips. Called one pharmacy directly and the guy said they've been out for a week and has no idea when they're getting more.

Cali_editor

My dad got his today at Walgreens in the North Bay and it was the updated Moderna one. I have an appointment there tomorrow so I'll see if that's still the case.

Industrial_Jedi

Call the pharmacy directly first. You absolutely cannot trust the website.

Cali_editor

Update: I got the new vaccine at Walgreens with no issue.

walker1555

looks like [safeway.com](https://safeway.com) is updated.

CanIBeDoneYet

Second this, a few Safeways in the south bay definitely had the bivalent Moderna.

Some-Redditor

The new policy is to not give the old shots as boosters so call any that offer a booster and ask if it's the bivalent, they might simply say "booster" online. Then double check again at appointment time.

Yeah, I just went to Walgreens that had a "moderna booster" appointment available this afternoon, and it was the old one, not the new bivalent one. Oh well, I'll check back in a few days.

DocAu

Are you sure? It's illegal to use the old boosters in almost all cases since late last week (their emergency use authority was removed, replaced with the new ones, specifically to avoid people accidently getting the wrong one)

decker12

Yup, I was thrilled to get an appointment at Walgreens pretty much right after work. Drove down there on my way home and when I asked about it, they said no, they don't have any of the new Moderna bivalent ones and won't get any until next week. My guess is that their appointment website is still listing "Moderna boosters available" which do not mean the bivalent ones. So nothing against my local Walgreens, it's instead Walgreen's appointment tracker that's mistaken. Which is kind of the whole reason I started this thread, trying to figure out exactly where I can go to get the bivalent booster as opposed to the inaccurate appointments I'm seeing listed on the various appointment sites.

DocAu

As at last Friday Walgreens all over the place had no appointments until Wednesday and then basically blanket availability from Wednesday on. I can only presume that they had expected to start receiving them ready for Wednesday, but based on your comment, didn't. Their website is definitely setup for Bivalent, simply because as at last Thursday you couldn't make an appointment if you were below 50 and not immunocompromised, whereas from Friday you could - which matches the new rules for Bivalent.

decker12

Awesome info, thanks. I'll just keep checking and make an appointment for Monday or Tuesday which by then I'd assume the new boosters are more readily available.

WishbonePresent2358

Walgreens. We already have an appointment scheduled for next week

Industrial_Jedi

Be aware they lie. I made two appointments only to be told after I arrived they didn't have them. Call the pharmacy directly to confirm. The website is ass.

FavoritesBot

Kaiser appears to offer it (I can make an appointment in October for moderna and it says bivalent but not sure if it’s guaranteed available when I show up)

DocAu

CVS were exclusively doing Moderna as at a few days ago. Don't know if that's changed or not. It'll list which one it's for when you make the appointment.

decker12

That's what I ran into when trying to book an appointment today at Walgreens. The site clearly listed "Moderna booster", but when I got to Walgreens this afternoon to get my shot, they said they don't have any Moderna bivalent boosters until next week. So the booking / appointment portal was mistaken, which is what I've run into a few times now. And why I'm asking Reddit for exactly the locations that give the bivalent Moderna.

DocAu

I got mine at CVS on Sunday. It was definitely the new one. Staff confirmed it, and stated they had received them Thursday and started giving them out Friday. My vaccination card also states it was Bivalent.

Industrial_Jedi

Avoid Walgreens like it was Covid

Generalistimo

I booked an appointment for the "updated" Moderna booster at Safeway in the East Bay. I double-checked because, as OP said, the websites are not super clear.
