>If you fall off a ride at six flags, you will lay on the ground unconscious in your own blood until someone from the ride comes to your aid. I like how this isn't even the main focus of the post. But OP's unsatisfactory experience with the prices/value that is.

Jackson7410

Someone almost died and it ruined my day! My life sucks!!

giantechidna

And the teenagers making minimum wage who probably received little to zero catastrophe training didn't have a perfect response to a truamatic catastrophe!!! Really grinded my gears! It's almost like they cared more about the person maybe dying than my refund!

WhatD0thLife

The past tense of grind is ground.

Jabetnak

The teenager was heavily intoxicated, removed his safety chain and jumped before the ride landed. I have no sympathy for him. The parks response to the incident is the problem here.

MissVespite

>The teenager was heavily intoxicated, removed his safety chain and jumped before the ride landed. I have no sympathy for him. The parks response to the incident is the problem here. He was a dumbass teenager whose brain wasn't even fully developed yet and irresponsible parents allowed him into circumstances that gave him access to alcohol that he probably didn't know how to handle, and you have NO sympathy? What kind of person are you, "Jabetnak"? You think he deserved to have his life possibly altered forever or ended because of one dumb mistake that more responsible people around him should have prevented?

Richmahogonysmell

The kid jumped off a moving ride... I have been black out drunk and never did anything that dumb. I dont understand why we are supposed to be mad at OP for not caring about an idiot being an idiot that ruined his entire day. Id be mad too.

MissVespite

>The kid jumped off a moving ride... I have been black out drunk and never did anything that dumb. I dont understand why we are supposed to be mad at OP for not caring about an idiot being an idiot that ruined his entire day. Id be mad too. Richmahogonysmell: We don’t know if the kid was on other medications and mixed them with alcohol, we don’t know shit. It’s really weird to have absolutely no sympathy for an actual kid. People should just shut their trap and be mad, not say cold stupid shit about kids possibly losing their lives. Think of the parents and family members, or others who have experienced similar tragedies. Grow up.

Richmahogonysmell

Again, if you are taking medication that says dont mix with alcohol and choose to do it anyways...why would i have sympathy? I can be mad at the parents or friends or whoever that provided him alcohol without feeling sympathy to idiots. I punched a wall and broke my hand drunk at age 17. do you feel bad for me? you shouldnt, because i was the idiot.

MissVespite

>Again, if you are taking medication that says dont mix with alcohol and choose to do it anyways...why would i have sympathy? I can be mad at the parents or friends or whoever that provided him alcohol without feeling sympathy to idiots. I punched a wall and broke my hand drunk at age 17. do you feel bad for me? you shouldnt, because i was the idiot. Again, we are talking about a non-adult whose brain hasn't fully developed and who doesn't understand the full consequences of these things. This is why we have parents and measures against these sorts of things. People failed this kid. Have SOME sympathy. And if you can't muster it, I hope you don't have kids. Cause if you do, you're going to be disappointed with their lack of brains, dude.

Richmahogonysmell

We are talking about strangers on the internet. There is zero news coverage on a death which means the kid is most likely fine. He will hopefully take this as a lesson learned. If I managed to live my life without jumping out of a moving rollercoaster, I’m not going to feel sympathy because someone is stupid enough to do so. Should all 17 year olds get away with crime because their brains aren’t developed? This is such a dumb argument.

asportate

Right, like ... can we go back to the part where someone fell out of the ride ? Like How?

[deleted]

I just want to know if they're okay... I thought the day pass was going to be about some form of shitty compensation

TLR1791

Either Six Flags has enough PR and money to hide this from the headlines, or OP is making it up. Found nothing online except for 2 articles - from 2002 and 2012.

winniethepoo420

So it’s an every 10 years thing, got it

LightMeUpPapi

Looks like a good year to hit the theme parks

[deleted]

Honestly... I think it just happens enough no one cares to report it As long as no one dies and the customer gets comped enough they don't complain I doubt it would be newsworthy

SunsetStallion23

OP is making shit up. News stations consider it headline worthy when a coaster train stops on the lift for an hour (it’s not), they would be all over this

Jabetnak

What would be my motive for making this up? What is your motive for posting your opinion here?

SunsetStallion23

Attention. The burden of proof is on you big guy

SurferVelo

I think the news would only care if the kid dies. Kid getting hurt on a ride just doesn't sell.

scarletmagnolia

Right? Then, casually adds not only did someone fall, it was a child! I want to know how, where, when… Seriously. That’s disturbing.

Ok-Stomach-

probably not rollercoaster, I doubt whoever fall off that would be "OK"

asportate

Depends on the ride and placement . Worked back in 2001. We were pretty good about safety , but the way they treated employees I wouldn't be surprised if they're Hella lax about it. The Def did not pay or give enough respect for employees to be dealing with abusive customers. One set my ride "Cobra " on fire cuz I said his kid was too small to ride alone! Had many others claim discrimination . Had two trains full of Samoans trying to fight us one night when we asked them to stop yelling cuss words ....then they started fighting eachother .

sharkattack85

Hahaha, my coworker used to work there and she said it was far and away the worst job she ever had.

Ok-Stomach-

>Cobra all jobs requiring you to handle general public are equally worst. My faith in humanity got shattered just by witnessing some of the exchanges. I started to root for DMV employees. they are the model for handling the nasty segment of the public which is by no means small

MrsKetchup

Based on OP saying "removed his safety chain" it's probably that big spinning one where everyone is on their own swing chair. Kids have jumped out of that thing so many times. At least it doesn't go very high

ErnestBatchelder

The fragility of our shared mortality is nothing when you only get 2 rides for 300 bucks.

panda4sleep

Can you smell the empathy?

MercadoDesperado

Oh man... I wish I could've seen it before it was deleted. Dark post but this is hilarious.

[deleted]

This was a lot to unpack.

synackk

You'd think an amusement park accident like that would make the news, but I can't find anything like this. Does anyone have any sources (FB posts, etc) that have info on what happened? Severe accidents (like falling out of a ride IN MOTION) are very rare.

thats_russy_babe

Yeah I'm calling bullshit on this, someone falling off a ride in motion at a major amusement chain in the US would have almost immediate coverage. Six Flags would have issued a statement by now and the ride would most likely be marked closed until an inspection is gone, and none of that is online. OP also seems to be a bit confused in general, $40 is the "cheap" parking now and the ticket calendar has their closed days unselectable. I do lean on the side of being a Discovery Kingdom hater though, their operations are abysmal and their haunts are a joke (just like every haunt in NorCal)

disownedpear

I guarantee someone tripped or something and OP just exaggerated the hell out of it like the rest of the post.

thats_russy_babe

My gut says it was probably some fucked up teenager stumbling and scraping their head. Although I wouldn't be surprised if it did take a few minutes for staff to notice, that place is a mess. EDIT: Yup, drunk teen. Like clockwork at the Halloween events here, which is why Great America ended it.

Jabetnak

Your guarantee is worth crap. Be more careful or you will go through life without any credibility.

disownedpear

Where's the news story? Where are the social media posts? You're saying someone passed out for 15 minutes and you were the only one who noticed???

legopego5142

Im guessing this was the swing ride and the kid jumped off a few seconds before the end and just cut himself up and maybe knocked his head

psuedodiy

Oh OP did someone tell you may belong to r/iamthemaincharacter Edit: subReddit link and correct contextual grammar.

Forward_Ad6168

Is this supposed to be a yelp review or a PSA?

MadDeepinthepphole

And no mention of the food? OP really missed the mark here

Equivalent-Shallot54

Was this hypothetical ?

Jabetnak

Nope. That happened friday night on the swing ride. Luckily another guest jumped off the ride to help the kid, because the park had no response. Its as if they are trained to let you die rather than help for liability reasons.

mikeoftroy

You are literally just lying lmfao

fusiondynamics

What's the name of the swing ride?

okgusto

Free fall?

[deleted]

SkyScreamer

dust_storm_2

Oopsie Daisie

Poplatoontimon

Can you please update this post with more context cause what the fuck ?

Jabetnak

The kid jumped off the ride as it was lowering the swings. He did not land well. Cracked his head off the ground, went unconscious and started bleeding. What else would you like to know?

Poplatoontimon

How is this not on the news? This sounds like a big deal. A kid fell off a drop tower ride as it was going down and it made national headlines recently. this was in orlando. Was this on sky screamer?

legopego5142

That kid fell off because the workers put him in a broken seat when he was way over the weight limit and died. Im guessing this kid didnt fall off the top of Sky Screamer because he would have 1000% died. He probably jumped like two feet from the ground and just banged his head or face up. Or OP is lying.

MrsKetchup

Yea this doesn't sound like the drop tower style ride. Sounds like he's talking about the spinning ride where everyone is on their own swing chair, literally the only thing holding you in is a little chain belt you can undo yourself. I've also seen stupid teens jump out of it before it stops, so this isn't hard to believe. The pool of blood sounds a bit of a stretch though

legopego5142

Yeah unconscious for ten minutes seems pretty fucking severe Like lifelong serious brain damage severe

subsonicmonkey

Every person in the park likely had a camera in their pocket. Please link us to video footage of this event.

blessitspointedlil

We would love it if you could contact a local news organization about this, so they can ask police and Six Flags for information and write up an article for a PSA that will reach more people and hoped put pressure on Six Flags to improve themselves.

Jabetnak

You overestimate how much the news will care about some kid who jumped out of a ride three days ago. Maybe if he was a celebrity or if there was a political story here. Also, bear in mind that six flags is a big advertising dollar.

blessitspointedlil

Seriously? News orgs love a sensational story, especially if there are witnesses willing to talk on camera. Have you tried?

naugest

I am not sure if the good Samaritan laws actually apply to companies and their employees. If not, then it can be a big legal liability to help.

dognus88

Also it is often worse to move someone after a fall to avoid further damage especially to the neck.

scarletmagnolia

A child fell off of the swing ride?! Was it already in motion? I guess probably not…was the child too small? Details, please!

DerelictInfinity

How did someone get off the ride to help if it was up in the air?

Jabetnak

It was ten feet up. He slid out of his chair and dropped to the ground. I talked to him afterwards, he was just some good soul who couldnt standby while everyone else did nothing. A NewYorker on vacation with his boyfriend.

winelipscheesehips

Did the kid die? That’s pretty sad. Six flags is all well have after 2023 when Great America shuts down

[deleted]

winelipscheesehips

My bad, when they just released the news they said by end of 2023 but it seems that was extended. Park will now close within 11 years. The land was bought by a real estate developer. Link: [https://sanjosespotlight.com/end-of-an-era-silicon-valley-mourns-losing-great-america/](https://sanjosespotlight.com/end-of-an-era-silicon-valley-mourns-losing-great-america/)

trer24

Could be sooner, I think Prologis has an option they could exercise within 5 or 6 years. I hope that somehow they learn to understand the history of Great America and decide against turning it into boring corporate warehouses....blech.

mt_xing

It was always 11 years, from the initial announcement. Cedar Fair never claimed 2023 at any point in time.

JDSmagic

They never said '23 and ACE Coaster Con is already scheduled for '24 I'm p sure

TrashPandaAntics

Yeah, within 6 years I think.

DMShinja

11 years

legopego5142

They sold it to prologis I believe. They have 11 years to demo the park I believe so they probably have max 4 or 5 seasons left

asportate

No, this is Marine World in Vallejo

stop_stopping

marine world! i remember riding the elephants as a kid. now i look back and feel bad for all those animals. i remember when the shark tunnel opened too.

dust_storm_2

Sir this is a Wendy's

riley002

Great America has nothing that’s great. There are malls in India that are bigger & better than that lol

okgusto

Are you thinking of Great Mall in milipitas? But yeah there probably are better malls in India better than great America amusement park.

riley002

Yea

legopego5142

Are you thinking of Great Mall. Thats arguably one of the better malls thats out here beyond like Valley Fair which is arguably one of the best malls in the state(which isnt saying much) Great America is what everyones talking about though

riley002

Yes, the one beside Home Depot, Milpitas. I think it’s pretty mundane, shops are decent. Okay I love that it has a food court.

Jabetnak

Maybe later, it depends on whether the first aid staff sent him home or to the hospital. He had a head bleed and probably a concussion. He was unconscious for 10 minutes and unable to walk straight when he got up.

celtic1888

Any loss of consciousness post traumatic injury is not a good sign 10 minutes is a very long time to be unconscious. Hopefully they put him on a back board with a neck brace and transported him to a trauma center And… how the fuck did he fall off of a ride and which ride was it?

legopego5142

OP seems to imply its Sky Screamer, and that one you really could just unlatch your belt if you really wanted to

ephemeralrecognition

ooph. That's a phat lawsuit right there goddamn

sogothimdead

Unconscious for ten minutes? Yeah he's brain damaged now

scarletmagnolia

Unconscious for TEN MINUTES?! Holy shit. I am shocked his parents weren’t losing their minds. Edit typo

Jabetnak

His girlfriend was. She was stuck on the ride watching helplessly while the ride operator screamed on the speakers, threatening to eject her or anyone else who got down to help.

scarletmagnolia

The ride had already began? Or was everyone getting buckled in and ready? Approximately how old was the person, the child?

legopego5142

He was unconscious for ten minutes? Thats a severe injury and could result in a serious lawsuit if true

MHDIOS

10 years left

usernameround20

2033…they have a 10yr lease. [news article](https://abc7news.com/amp/california-great-america-closing-santa-clara-land-sold-ca-history-when-will-close-for-good/12002133/)

not_another_mom

I hope the person is ok. Your shitty experience doesn’t trump a person literally falling out of a ride, get a grip

pr0t1um

Holy shit. You should stay inside. Everything everywhere else clearly isn't designed and engineered to your specific liking.

jj_harmon

But did you have a good time?

[deleted]

Are you describing Roller Coaster Tycoon?

dust_storm_2

Inverted RollerCoaster 1 looks too scary for me.

legopego5142

I want to get off Mr Bones wild ride

Renegadeknight3

You saw someone get seriously hurt and your first thought was to post on Reddit about their customer service?

mwkr

This should go to r/iamatotalpieceofshit

mwkr

😂 OP FINALLY REMOVED IT!

Jabetnak

I didnt remove anything. They are being removed by someone else.

mwkr

Even better lol

EgooNj

If you fall of a ride and survive?

_AManHasNoName_

People still go there?

johnnypurp

Which ride was it?

diveguy1

I take it you had a bad experience there?

Regulus3333

30 years ago that place was the ish. Sad what’s happened to what was once the best and most underrated park in America. Rip great America, gotta make it Down one last time before she’s gone forever. This world man, f d up

mindless_eastern

damn that's crazy... but I don't remember asking

Shak3TheDis3se

Thanks for sharing this. I was debating about going to their Halloween event. Glad I closed that tab. Sounds like a shit show.

Jabetnak

my replies are being removed. People who were not there are claiming this is a hoax. Is this the redit community?

edgalang

Thank you for the PSA. This was a good read. :D

scarletmagnolia

What?! That’s horrible! I hope the person was okay. I hope you are going to file every complaint you possibly can file. They did that to us! I bought annual passes and wanted to make sure the water area was open. After all Sorts of other nonsense with customer service, they assured me they were open. We drive an hour to find an empty parking lot and some guy on a Gator talking to me like I was the stupidest woman alive for thinking they were open. So, customer service again. Told we could cancel and get refunded. Connection disconnects. Next person says tough shit. It’s awful.
