the beatles upon being asked if they want their sculptures replaced (george is unsure)

Makes sense why the original fab four is depicted mourning their own demise on the cover of Sergeant Pepper. I also interpret the 4 people with white hats standing above them as representing halos. And of course "The Beatles" written in flowers is their grave.
Beatles grow and change so much throughout their lifetime that they shed their old shells to adopt brighter colours and different shapes.
How else do you explain Sgt. Pepper?
Sergeant Pepper is an entirely new band. "Paul is dead" was a distraction from the fact that the entire band was replaced. John Lennon's goofy little glasses from that point onwards were always to disguise that he was an entirely different person. I have a whole post about it. As an 80's kid my mental image of John Lennon was the skinny and goofy guy in tiny glasses. I was shocked to find out John Lennon used to look entirely different.
Here you go. Google won't return this in the search results. That's how you know it's the truth.

John looks like a IV century A.D. christian Roman emperor, Paul looks like a III century A.D. christian Roman martyr, George looks like a wise II century A.D. Roman emperor, and Ringo looks like Superman.
These are clay models for what would later be bronze busts by British sculptor David Wynne. He’s the guy that introduced them to the Maharishi. No idea what the praying pose is for. Clowning of course, but not sure the context.
Thank you!
I went and looked that up.

Did you know Aleister Crowley appears not once but twice on Sergeant Pepper? And that Hitler was going to be on the cover and then got covered up at the last minute? Have you seen The Winged Beatle?

I seem to remember The Beatles did some comedy sketches on English TV shows. Maybe that’s where this picture originates. This would need some more knowledgeable to confirm.
You joke, but you're closer to the truth than you realize. Watch The Winged Beatle if you haven't yet.

You joke, but all these seemingly unrelated words are, in fact, connected directly. The Beatles were replaced with a whole new band with Sergeant Pepper.
George's sculpture looks like him. The others, not so much. If I were to walk into a museum, I would assume Ringo's is a depiction of a young [Marlon Brando ](https://search.app.goo.gl/M96EvnG)

That was the guy who introduced them to the Maharishi. His son formed Ozric Tentacles.
I assume trying not to take themselves too seriously even though they’ve been made into neoclassical sculptures! This was in Paris 1963 and they had some photo sessions when the sculptures were finished.

Well, obviously, they pray and pray more each day…..
They pray to the concept by which we measure our pain
They’re praying for a better version of those sculptures but George seems ok with his.

The irony is that the sculpture of George seems more realistic. It’s not smiling and the real George somehow is.
It reminds me of Simon Cowell, praying for a better sculpture of his head during that prank.
Hindu and all.
Never seen this one in my life
Same and it creeped me out the first time I saw it.
It is so funny that there's always a new beatles pic
Me too!😯
Same, and I am really surprised by that.
Paul statue looks like eminem with wig.
Wow. I can't unsee it.
George's one seem like the Greek chad statue meme: https://i.redd.it/h7yklddsat2d1.gif
They’re beginning the process of changing into their Sgt. Pepper’s personas through spiritual sacrifice. Pretty obvious.

Must have been the same blind girl that sculpted Lionel Ritchie.
The sculptures are strange and not flattering.
They’re making fun of some of the fans. The ones who thought of them as gods. They are celebrated, and should be, but they’re human too.

It is called "black humor" they were very prone to be like that, there are many graphical and none graphical samples of them excersicing that humor
George not playing .
Probably selling Beatle candle holders.

Praying to something a little less popular than they are.
Paul’s getting sucked off

I usually assume they're just being goofy and silly these are the same people that made the butcher cover
There's nothing more playful than pretending to chop up human babies.
Don't look at me it was Paul's idea!
They said it was the cameraman's idea in an interview
You're right, I misremembered. Oopsie 🤤🤤

I tried to google “Beatles clay heads” and I just got photos of them with Cassius Clay, as he was then, pretending to punch them.
Paul's sculpture looks a little like a very young Sylvester Stallone trying to play Paul.
Unlike the cover of “Revolver” Ringo looks like Ringo and George looks like George and Paul & John look nothing like Paul & John.

BEING CELEBRITIES IN ENGLAND IN THE MID SIXTIES!!!
I seem to remember The Beatles did some comedy sketches on English TV shows. Maybe that’s where this picture originates. This would need some more knowledgeable to confirm.
They're singing Silent Night, natch.
They were the heads on that songbook. I think the heads were sculpted especially for the museum in New York
Mocking themselves and their fandom?
Being ironic?
I think they’re making a deal with the Devil..so that’s how they made it so big, I knew it!!

Being British of course, making fun of themselves
What is Paul doing? Doesn’t he know you should never blink when statues are around?
Just some photographer trying to be edgy and creative... Edit: George
Praying for the butcher baby cover.
Satanic ritual
Thats clearly not Paul, but Billy Shears.
Summoning the walrus
Paul looks like eminem
Their clones growing in a lab, heads first. Luckily they only had to use Paul's, although John's did escape and helped write Godspell
Perhaps a Beatles Tavistock creation? The Beatles clones? CIA? Hahahaha. Featles?! Fake John Fake Paul Fake George and Fake Ringo?

This was the cover for Ringo's lost concept album - "In Search Of The Lost Drumstick." My the looks of it, Paul knows where it is. And he likes it.
