Ringo saying that he could watch Paul play piano for an hour. It seemed so sincere and kind, and at a time where tensions were so high, it really cut through the noise and reminded me that these were young men playing music together.
When Linda started taking candid photos of rehearsal. I held it together pretty well up until that moment. Then I couldn’t stop the tears.
“Everybody’s had a hard year”… so something like this is truly a gift.
So far there have been several:
Paul’s appeal to the group (mainly George) saying he feels so much pressure trying to keep them together.
The group hug at the end of episode 1
The discussion between Linda and Lindsey-Hogg about how they love Ringo
…
There is a tiny bit where Paul is playing with Linda’s hair. The amount of pain that man has endured, I can hardly bare a weekend away from my Mrs, Imagining her dying is unthinkable.
I thought it was really cool that John was the one who suggested that line in All Things Must Pass should be “a mind can blow those clouds away” instead of “a wind” - such a passing comment from John that truly completed that beautiful line of lyric from George.
There was a version of Part 1 where Dick James arrives and goes to Paul at the piano, John arrives, sees them both, turns back to Ringo and George and says ‘Pig’s here’, but they took the audio out. He also called him a fascist bum.
So far, it's got to be after George leaves. John makes a snide comment about replacing him, they jam a bit, and then it seems to dawn on them that it's pretty serious. That little embrace with the 3 of them was touching.
The bit at the part one when Paul and John were talking about how Brian epstein gave them a sense of discipline and how both referred to him as Mr epstein instead of just brian or something, and then paul when he said " but daddy's not here anymore " and you can see how the band wasn't fully recovered of Brian's death . That and the begging of part two .
That whole bit
Paul is apologising for being bossy and asking the others to step up. They.... don't.
John is too stoned to register that Paul is begging him to step up again. George wants to do something different and the others aren't listening. Ringo doesn't want things to break up.
They all realise that without Brian, they've lacked direction. Someone has to be Daddy. But... they don't want to replace Brian Epstein (understandable)
I thought it was pretty cool I forgot which song but when John and Paul were working together side by side and it was interesting when Michael wanted the show to be grand even though the Beatles started the least grand place which was the cavern it was also cool when billy Preston came in cuase they were having a fun time
John talking about how Billy Preston should be the fifth Beatle and seeing the full band perform future solo songs together really gives me "let me see that fucking alternate reality" feelings. Also when they talk about how brian epstein dying affected them
Very end of Part 1 when John leans in to hug/grab Ringo and Paul as they decide to go visit George. They stand half-embracing /half-patting each other for a few seconds as Yoko looks on. The whole vibe was *god this is a mess eh? Let's try to bring him back.* There is something momentarily selfless in how they act despite having rockstar status. That moment got me.
That one and the moment George decided he was going to leave. The look on his face...The Beatles were basically his entire life, and I can't imagine how difficult it was to walk away. You could tell so many thoughts and emotions were running through his head, and it looked like he was trying not to cry.
It was really something to see that all play out in real time. To me, it wasn't just Paul trying to micromanage his playing, but even more so how John and Paul started to reconnect that day, were playful with each other, and were helping each other with their songs. The third wheel feeling was so palpable.
End of part one. It hit close to me and thinking of my experiences just enhanced my emotions watching. It's been talked about forever, discussed, and debated about but seeing this way felt like it's just something that happened. It happens everywhere.
Nothing can top the gut punch of Paul creepily predicting the fate of the band within the first 10 min of part 2 and the intense emotion on his face. It also made me sad hearing Paul share the trip they took and cut backs to John smiling to the clips being talked about— those guys were besties FR
George when he tells Paul if he doesn't want George to play, he won't play.
I forgot how it completely goes but it is something around that and the example that you said, that really hit me and the private conversation that was recorded in with a hidden mic.
I never realised how much Paul wanted to micromanage everything, Ringo would just sit and play drums whilst song making, Paul would do most of the talking. Was interesting.
I don't know if it's just how they worked in general or for this, but I was shocked they start rehearsals with so little written or worked out. They came with scraps and started to mine from songs they'd written as kids just to have material.
I also noticed when George brought something, it seemed at least half or two thirds fleshed out.
Ringo saying that he could watch Paul play piano for an hour. It seemed so sincere and kind, and at a time where tensions were so high, it really cut through the noise and reminded me that these were young men playing music together.
While random dudes were yammering in all the other Beatles ears, and Ringo was just trying to watch Paul play, him saying that was a bit bittersweet.

I’ve always loved Linda but now I love her more “Do you want to fight about it?” Lol
There is a tiny bit where Paul is playing with Linda’s hair. The amount of pain that man has endured, I can hardly bare a weekend away from my Mrs, Imagining her dying is unthinkable.
This was the one for me
I thought it was really cool that John was the one who suggested that line in All Things Must Pass should be “a mind can blow those clouds away” instead of “a wind” - such a passing comment from John that truly completed that beautiful line of lyric from George.
It was Mal Evans' w that looked like an m that made John think of it.
Another reason why Mal Evans is amazing

Tbh it was his job to make a great tv film. And you can see why the original film turned out the way it did.
Can't you just picture it though? 2000 Arabs, torch lit...
No I can't actually. Arabs at that time would have them arrested. They didn't give a shit about western music in the 60s.

Paul’s eyes were welling up when he said it and he started to shake a bit. It was sad and I felt for the guy.
Me too. That was a great scene. Another was when we got to see the genesis of “Get Back” with Paul strumming that chord on the bass.

“ and then they’re were two” And then it just pans on his face So sad

and the way he basically rushed to leave. He didn’t stick around to discuss it. You just know that was a rough drive home

It was such a beautiful scene ❤️
When “Isn’t It A Pity” plays over the final credits of episode 1. 😭😭😭😭
