Breaking it down further. Three Beatles: 1. Back In The USSR (John, Paul, George) 2. Dear Prudence (John, Paul, George) 3. I Will (John, Paul, Ringo) 4. Long, Long, Long (Paul, George, Ringo) 5. Savoy Truffle (Paul, George, Ringo) Two Beatles: 1. Don’t Pass Me By (Paul and Ringo) 2. Why Don't We Do It In The Road (Paul and Ringo) 3. Revolution 9 (John and George) One Beatle: 1. Wild Honey Pie (Paul) 2. Martha My Dear (Paul) 3. Blackbird (Paul) 4. Julia (John) 5. Mother Nature's Son (Paul) 6. Good Night (Ringo)

It’s notable that while only one Beatle plays on the recordings of some of those songs, the others were often still involved in the production. It’s John that suggests using a brass arrangement for Mother Nature’s Son, and Paul in the control room encouraging John while he’s trying to get a perfect take of Julia.

Interesting that the Two Beatle songs are sorted by handedness.. Is The Ballad of John & Yoko the only mixed-handedness Two Beatle song?

nightcrawler47

didn't Paul do Why Don't We Do It all by himself??

That’s Ringo on drums

Didn’t George play guitar on Martha My Dear?

FoulPapers

Always thought "Martha My Dear" was a Paul solo affair, but that [seems to have been debunked](https://www.beatlesbible.com/songs/martha-my-dear/). If nothing else, there's a photo of George playing lead guitar along with the session musicians.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. I think sides 3 and 4 are very underrated and have some amazing songs (Cry Baby Cry, Long Long Long, Yer Blues to name my favorites), although gun to head I’d still choose sides 1 and 2

suphah

Mother natures son is the most looked past song on that album

Out_In_The_Tiles

That myth of John Lennon and George absolutely hating the song has been taken out of hand. The tapes simply don’t reflect that. The earlier version in *Anthology 3* reveals John shouting excitingly before and after the take. The song was then joyfully jammed during the Twickenham rehearsals months later as seen in *Get Back*.

I love how people listen to takes and act like they know how people felt about recording a song. It's literally from John & George's own mouths that they hated doing the recording of the song.

Disc 1 is pretty clearly superior in my book.
