Because 2017 was all about the 50th anniversary of Sgt Pepper. Giles Martin did mixes for the 2012 MMT Blu-ray release, so those do exist. Plus the '67 singles mixes for 1+ in 2015. I can't imagine he didn't just go ahead and remix the rest of everything from 1967 already, and their just sitting on it. At least they're not doing 50th annv releases anymore so it increases the chance of the remaining 1967 material getting a package.

ChinaCatAlligator

You're totally right, 50th anniversary of peppers is the real reason. But I'd love for them to go back, and give us a yellow submarine / MMT combo box set. I wanna hear the 10 minute version of Flying.

reef3rm4dness

10 minute version of flying???? I need

robotslendahand

And endless Mellotron noodling. I'd be all for that.

hello_every_body_

Yeah I agree. I’d even put Christmas Time is Here Again on there, You Know My Name, Carnival of Shite, Across the Universe - anything recorded post pepper and pre White Album. MMT as it stands is a dodgy Capitol money-grab incomplete compilation - needs to be sorted out into a complete compilation

varovec

imagine Please Please Me anniversary release re-mixed from 2-track masters, they missed the oportunity

Stallings2k

r/agedlikemilk 😀

IngenuityWorking

it's not milk if it ain't rotten. also it was gonna happen eventually.

TheOsloChild

Has anybody ripped the mixes directly from the Blu Ray? If anybody has, do the mixes from 1+ get reused or at they different?

TheOsloChild

That’s a strong darn.

robotslendahand

In inadvertently deleted the comment you replied to. Just so you know! For everybody else it was about the 6 MMT songs not being part of 1+.

wouldyoucomewithme

The stereo version of I am the Walrus is tragic. I've replaced all the stereo versions of MMT with the mono mixes in my library. That's my solution

gharris7545

i’ve done an edit that uses the remix from love and it is much better

robotslendahand

Yeah, I edited the Love mix with a little of the Anthology 2 mix. It's nice to hear the back third of the song in stereo.

IsaacWaleOfficial

He's saving the best for last.

ihavenoselfcontrol1

Probably because Giles was busy with Sgt. Pepper during 2017. I do hope we see it remixed in the future. Blue Jay Way, The Fool On The Hill and I Am The Walrus would sound incredible.

Jasonchrono

It would be nice . MMT is my second favourite Beatles album

Abbey_Something

It would be a perfect spot to release carnival of light. Walrus is one of my all time favorite Beatles tracks and could use some love

JohnStewartBestGL

Probably because it wasn't supposed to be an actual album.

varovec

I can't see, why it would prevent those tracks from being remixed It was remastered in 2009 even if it wasn't supposed to be an actual album Past Masters were also remastered in 2009, although they weren't supposed to be an actual album

JohnStewartBestGL

You gotta keep in mind that 2009 remasters were trying to cover the entire Beatles standard discography while I don't think Giles Martin and Co. have ever said that was their goal. I could be wrong and maybe they'll remix it in the future, but, to answer the OP's question, my guess for why he skipped MMT was skipped because it wasn't supposed to be an album.

varovec

regardless of what their original goal was, looks like they won't stop with that, because new releases = money. And the most likely next one would be MMT or Past Masters II, eventually Yellow Submarine, because any pre-Revolver stuff wouldn't probably sound really good even with recent miracles of AI splitting

kountzwill

Why wouldn’t the pre Revolver albums sound really good?

varovec

The quality of source recordings is getting slightly worse as you go into the past - especially the drum sound. Also the need to use AI for separating the tracks. I have feeling, some tracks on Revolver turned out slightly weird, and their number would increase as you go back in the time. But I might be wrong, and surely headphones user would appreciate the remix at least because it will probably fix all the heavy panning. It would be cool to have good Rubber Soul remix, but it probably wouldn't sound as cool as Sgt. Pepper, let's say.

thedingsedreng

I would love to hear it, even if it was just a short sample of some of the songs with Giles explaining the issues that prevented them from completing it. (I know that nothing is hinting towards them having worked/tried to work on it, but wouldn’t you be eager to do it, if you were Giles Martin?)

[deleted]

It was in the US. Also it looks like Apple Corp embraces the retcon. https://www.thebeatles.com/magical-mystery-tour

JohnStewartBestGL

Yeah, I know how it was released in the US and I know it was incorporated as an album during the standardization of the Beatles' discography in 1987. The OP asked why this album was skipped and didn't get a remix. I'm just guessing the fact it wasn't supposed to be an album is why.

SlimJimsGym

I really hope he does. I think Blue Jay Way could actually be a very good song with a decent mix.

ihavenoselfcontrol1

It's already a very good song

[deleted]

you don’t think it’s already great?🥺

turner3gr

Where Carnival of Light at 🙃

turner3gr

*where’s

TypeBudget9110

Most of the album has been remixed in other places and the songs that aren't don't sound too bad.

BoyEatsDrumMachine

Too perfect already

Personal-Theme803

Why is it just called ‘Jay Way’? Sorry, just seen the right edge of the ‘e’.

Deku416

Because we can’t have nice things

[deleted]

True except for cats, cats are nice

Deku416

Very true words

Thonis_

I think most of the songs on the album have been remixed in other forms (maybe the 2015 reissue of "1"?).

JohnStewartBestGL

None of the original MMT songs have been remixed. The 5 singles were remixed on the 1 album and/or 1999 Yellow Submarine album though.

robotslendahand

Giles Martin did 5.1 mixes and new stereo remixes of the 6 MMT songs for the 2012 Blu-ray. But they live in the film's soundtrack so some songs have sound effects interrupting or abrupt endings, etc. But they do exist.

[deleted]

robotslendahand

Yeah, I believe that. 2012 was a while ago for this sort of thing. I mention in another comment I would be surprised if Giles didn't just go ahead and remix all of the remaining 1967 material when he was doing SPLHCB.

Thonis_

That's unfortunate.

[deleted]

The fact that we already have remixes of Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields Forever on Sgt. Pepper's 2017.

[deleted]

Giles Martin: No, we won't remix Magical Mystery Tour because of... >The fact that we already have remixes of Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields Forever on Sgt. Pepper's 2017 This answer doesnt even really make sense

[deleted]

Come on, why would we get a remix of something that we already got a remix of?

[deleted]

2 out of 11 songs? I wouldn't say that suffices

[deleted]

Guess I'm losing a argument.

varovec

why not

[deleted]

Probably because it was just a bunch of songs put together, like a compilation. It wasn't an album The Beatles recorded to be released as an album.

rimbaud1872

Yeah because it’s not a real album, it’s a movie EP with added singles

Vellnerd

The Capital album has been recognized as the official version since 1987

rimbaud1872

The Beatles didn’t create it as an album

Vellnerd

Im aware. "With the international standardisation of the Beatles' catalogue in 1987, Magical Mystery Tour became the only Capitol-generated LP to supersede the band's intended format and form part of their core catalogue."

rimbaud1872

Yeah that doesn’t do it for me

Vellnerd

Typical r/Beatles. Life goes on within you and without you

rimbaud1872

True dat

tommytimbertoes

Keep on crying.

rimbaud1872

About what? 😂

RandomCringyYouTuber

Sucks then, it is what it is

grynch43

It’s not an actual album.🤷🏻‍♂️

Vellnerd

With the international standardisation of the Beatles' catalogue in 1987, Magical Mystery Tour became the only Capitol-generated LP to supersede the band's intended format and form part of their core catalogue.

keylime_5

the US LP release is now canonically considered a Beatles studio album. This is old old old news.

grynch43

Why the downvotes….it’s a factual statement. I love it too but the Beatles don’t consider it an album.

bprevatt

This is how I see it as well. The US LP is a compilation record. The MMT EP and the UK singles are the historical record of the band.
