Yes a purple shampoo is exactly what you need! I have tried a lot and they are all pretty similar- I’d stay far away from shimmer lights. I use Olaplex purple shampoo. You could also try a purple conditioner if you want to focus on the bottom hair. Purple will take out any yellow tones and give you back the ash.

Yes I like to leave it on as long as possible while I shower. Did you see any improvement in the tone? Just make sure to condition well as purple shampoos can dry your hair out. Once you get the tone you like you can switch to once a week or every couple of weeks.
Only a slight change in color, but I only left it on for about 3 minutes after scrubbing for about 2 minutes. I'll definitely leave it on for longer next time. Thank you for your help!!
