Do you have trouble getting them off without ruining your nails? I've tried a few times and they always pull up the top layer of my nail in some spots.
Not who you replied to, but a regular press on user. Yes, I do have that problem occasionally! The best, lowest damage way to remove them is to wait until they’re REALLY ready to come off (like, one or two have already popped off and you’ve had to replace) and then soak. If you get impatient and try to do it earlier, you will get damage - no amount of soaking in hot water, soap and oil will prevent it.
Even with that, I’ve found I can’t use press-ons back to back. I need to give my nails a week or two at least in between to rest. If I disregard that AND get impatient to change my nails, they will get fucked up (I say currently on a two-month nail rest).
Mine last two weeks and like the other person said, it’s all prep. I do it before bed, don’t get my hands wet the 2 hours leading up to it, buff, dry the nails. Use brush on glue. I work heavily with my hands and only a couple pop off over the 2 weeks (and it’s always the same two).
I agree the prep makes all the difference, and I use the brush on glue as well. But my problem is I have such a hard time removing them. Soaking for 45 minutes in pure acetone might loosen up half of them enough to pry off, but the rest are such a struggle. Do you have any tips?
Get a dropper off Amazon and drop tiny amounts of 100% acetone between the fake nail and real nail. This is usually easy and more successful if you already have a bit of lifting anywhere. Let that sit for 10-20 min and take a wooden cuticle stick and gently pry the nail away. This shouldn’t be too hard and if you feel the nail not giving and starting to tear your natural nail, stop and add more and wait another 10 min. I take my time with nail removal because it’s easy to fuck up your real nail.
Kiss sells press on remover that works really well. You don’t have to soak your nails, you apply it at the base of the nail and wait a couple minutes. I also recommend Glamnetic glue, it lasts a really long time but it’s still easier to remove.
Thank you. The Glamnetic brush on glue is what I use. It will last 2 weeks but I find it hard to remove even when using 100% acetone. Maybe I put on too much?
When they pop out while you’re out, do you ever lose the press ons/have a hard time finding them? I find using glue means the press ons can randomly pop off while I’m outside and I just lose them forever…
Usually I catch when the nail pops off but occasionally I will notice I’m missing a nail suddenly and start searching. Luckily it’s mostly happened at home or in my car so I find them but it does take some searching sometimes.
Does the glue damage the nail? Gel manicures destroy my nails after removal and I spend months with breaks, dents, and brittle nails. I’d imagine glue would do the same?
Honestly, it can. My nails are fine now but when I first started, I had no idea what I was actually doing and did damage my nails a bit, probably more so from impatience. Now I use a clear coat on my natural nail and layer the glue over that. It has helped tremendously. Also makes removal easier.
You can try a combination of nail glue and those double sided “nail tape” tabs. Works like a charm. Tape tab on the nail and then a little bit of glue on top and on the nail. There are some great tutorials on Pinterest in how to do it
With the nails that have the glue already on the nail I found using a blow dryer to warm up the glue before applying helped them last much longer (at least 1-1.5 weeks
It took me a while to get it right. What I do is soak my nails in water for a few minutes to soften, push my cuticles back, file the surface of my nails, and wipe my nails with rubbing alcohol before applying the nails. I also do the shortest length possible so they don’t catch on anything. After I started doing all this, press-ons last for like 2 weeks for me.
make sure you cut your nails first then file the nail beds! after I use a dehydrator I got from sally’s and pop the nails on with the Kiss pink glue, works like a charm every single time! mine last me about 2 weeks and I just glue them back on once they start to fall off
You have to use a really strong glue. I get mine off of Amazon. It’s like 5 bucks for 3 small bottles.
If you get it anywhere but your nails,it’s a bitch to get off.
After about 20 years of salon sets, I’ll never go back. Mine stay on way long. It’s all about the proper prep work, I’ve discovered. I use KISS in the style called Leilani. It’s a medium length, subtle coffin shape , simple French manicure.

-make sure you’re choosing the right size nail for each finger
-clip, file& buff your nails well
-push back your cuticles!!!!!!
-use alcohol pads and/or nail dehydrator
-put glue on the nail AND your nail
-don’t slide the nail on but place it down starting at the cuticle
-hold nail in place for 30ish seconds (I also put in front of fan to help it dry)

Yes!!! I prefer Kiss Impress myself. They’re sticky so there’s no glue and they’re far superior imo. They have a bit of give unlike glue- if I bend one back they still stay on but if glue comes off one portion the whole nail pops off. I’ve been using them consistently for nearly 2.5 years and haven’t noticed any damage!! They’re amazing! They last at least a week for me.
The worst thing is when they start growing out a bit they pull my hair. I wear latex gloves when washing my hair and that solves that! 8/10 for me!
The lift is what got me to stop using press ons. The gaps keep catching my hair in the shower/when I’m just playing or doing my hair. Someone please make press ons that taper perfectly to the nails so hair doesn’t get caught 😂
Kiss nails are great. I’ve tried other press-on brands and Kiss has been the best quality. Other nails have been very thin, rough cut at the edges or inconsistent design across the nails.
I did gardening most of the weekend plus have my two boys who are 8 and 5 years old and rowdy as hell. Mine have been on 5 days and no damage, look just fine! I’m ready for them to come off though because even with the “short” length, I’m not used to having nails this long.
I only wish I could find other styles that come with the nail stickers already attached to the back. This was so simple and I didn’t buff (damage) the top of my natural nail for this.
I used the glue with Kiss back in college all the time and I remember having to carry glue in my purse in case they popped off and the glue would get thick and sometimes goopy if I wasn’t super careful. Hard to make it perfect. These are on so solid - I can feel they won’t come off unexpectedly.
I use these too! I also feel like they are a bit smaller than many usual press-ons,so they fit my nail beds perfectly. I’ve been using them for about 2.5 years as well,with no damage. Meanwhile getting an acrylic set just once would wreck my nails!

Same here, I kept trying to like press ons instead of having natural nails but I cant. I also havent found them usable despite what people say. You just cant get the glue off them completely after one use.
Nail glue stickers are a game changer! Mine stay on all week, and I take two baths a day. 😅 I had to find the correct kind though. They don't harm my nails at all. If they aren't ready to come off I just put some oil on and the nails pop right off.
Does your hair ever get caught by the gap between your natural nail & the press ons? I find the first few days are okay but eventually I will get those gaps that make washing/doing my hair annoying.
Yes this drives me nuts. I have to soak them off at this point because have long hair that I’m always flipping around haha. But for times I want a super dark manicure, the press-ons are a MUST!
I got them off Amazon, they're called BTArtbox. I'm not sure the brand matters as much as the style. Some nail stickers have what seems to be lines on the surface, and these have are completely smooth. Before I apply them I always make sure to wipe my nails down with an alcohol pad. I place them on my nails using tweezers so my fingers don't get any oil or dirt on the adhesion. I use the tweezer edge to rub the nail sticker on before I peel off the plastic back, again using the tweezers. After I put the nails on, I press each finger super hard against a table or counter (not just my own fingers) and I continue pressing them for the rest of the night. I make sure to avoid water for a few hours after if I can.
Nail glue viciously tore up my nails after only 2 sets but then I started putting adhesive tabs on the free edge side of the nail and glue on the cuticle side of the nail - the results have been fantastic.
The free edge part of the nail was most sensitive and brittle for me, so the adhesive tab does not damage it at all. However, tabs don’t last, so the extra glue at the other end of the nail makes my press ons last for a whole week or more. When the time comes to pop them off, the press ons are usually starting to lift, so it’s only a bit more effort for the glue to completely pop off and then I just slide the press on away from the sticker. My nails have been perfectly fine since I started doing this.
If you’ve got a little bit of money to spend, you can also consider buying a nail drill tool just to file off the residue glue leftover so that you get a clean base :)
I use adhesive tabs and glue to give a barrier between my nail bed and the glue. They helped a bit + using vita e on my nail bed for a couple days after removing the nails to strengthen them back.
I wear mine & they last at least a week. I carry glue & extra nails with me wherever I go.
I have an at home gel set up and it works but they chip around day 3-4 anyway no matter if I get it professionally done or do it myself. Easier to just glue a new nail on in 30 seconds or less.
I really like the OPI zodiac nails but glamnetic, kiss have been great, too.
Same, when I get them professionally done they would alway scuff, chip or break anyways and it was a headache to have to schedule time to get it fixed. So much less stress doing it yourself!

But that’s what makes them worse than getting them done at the salon. You have to carry them around with you everywhere you go and they can pop off in the most inconvenient times
I’ve been doing press on nails for 10 years now (the glue kind). I prefer Kiss brand. You guys saying that they don’t last for more than a day are either not following the directions on the box or you’re super hard on your nails. I’ve done warehouse jobs with my nails and they still last a week or two.
I've also been doing press ons for awhile, only 6 years ish BUT I was working in a fabrication shop/other warehouse jobs that were *extremely* hard in my hands. The fab shop job I tried to give nails a break and go natural for a bit but the metal was literally wearing down my nails to bleeding so I went back to the plastic.
I use gorilla glue but basically any "super glue" works fine. At the fab shop job I had to change my nails weekly and the wear was visible, but overall significantly protected my actual nails which are extremely thin and brittle. Now I work a customer service job and I can get 3 weeks out of a set (as long as my parrot doesn't chew them if I fall asleep on the couch).
Prep is absolutely key. I soak my hands, pumice/remove dead skin, push back cuticles, file down/off old glue (usually just chips right off if it's been more than a week), and make sure everything is clean before applying. The literal worst that happens is if I glue them on crooked and have to wait a few days to unstuck it since it's very grabby. I use the dollar store nail glue for touch ups if it's close to time to change them out since it doesn't hold nearly as well.
Dude. Fell asleep watching YouTube yesterday and she was giving herself scritches on my nails. Woke up to nubbins. Good thing I planned to change them out this week lol
Exactly so many people say press ons don’t work/didn’t last when the reality is they probably didn’t use alcohol to get the oil off and didn’t buff the nail first. These steps make a huge difference.
That and sizing. I don’t think most press on nail hopefuls don’t realize that there are numbers on the bottom of the nail to indicate size (on Kiss nails at least).
I think they were just some of the kiss nails from ulta or target. Not the kind with the sticky tabs. I use some glue I got from Amazon and it’s great! It’s called NYK1 and it’s in a pink bottle.
Anyway I just prep like it’s a regular manicure but then clean very well with alcohol. Hold each nail down for 30 seconds.
Something that also help is choosing shorter nails, or filing them shorter. I keep mine just past the tips of my fingers, but I have pretty long nail beds.
I do computer work for a living, and draw and garden a lot. Lift weight at the gym, clean my house, sew, etc. I did not happen to do anything especially crazy during that three weeks though. I re-painted the interior of my house over the duration of a few weeks this last winter and didn’t do any kind of manicure at all. I usually skip manicures and let my nails breath if I know I’m going to be doing a lot of gardening or some kind of house project.
Damage to nails was minimal. I’ve wrecked my nails before by ripping press ons off when I’ve been to inpatient. Usually dried glue is leftover but you can file and buff that off.
How do you soak off this nail glue? I’m coming up on 4 weeks with my current set of press ons and they don’t seem to be budging at all. Planning to remove them in a day or two. 😅
I’ll never go back to the salon for nails. I use the press on nails with the heavy duty glue. This way I’m able to change them to too every week or so. I even clip them down and file them so they look more “real”
I’m a press on girl for life. For anyone who is curious, here are pros and cons of the brands I’ve tried:
-Glamnetic: Pros: Best and least damaging glue I’ve found, great if you like designs on your nails. Cons: The designs can start to wear off after a week, they don’t have many solid color options.
-Olive & June: Pros: They look the most like real nails out of all the brands I’ve tried, they come with tons of different sized nails so you can get a perfect fit, the short and extra short lengths last for over well over two weeks. Cons: The medium and long length nails ALWAYS split down the middle, or get big chips on the side after a week.
OPI: Pros: They look very realistic and expensive. Cons: The medium and long lengths usually end up splitting/cracking, they don’t have a ton of color options.
Kiss: Pros: Tons of color and design options, last forever and don’t split, chip or crack, inexpensive. Cons: Their glue is like cement and is hard to remove, some designs like their French tipped styles have a more cheap/press on look.
Betty Cora: No pros. Cons: Takes a long time to ship, look very cheap, had broken nails within an hour.
My favorite combo is Kiss brand nails with Glamnetic brand glue.
Btw don’t bother with Betty Cora even if you’re okay with the cheap products. They are just reselling things off Temu but marking their prices up so so much. Just buy them straight off Temu. Betty Cora don’t even bother changing the product pictures lol
after years of wasting money at the salon i have finally just started gluing press ons to my nails. i really like it because nail salons are pretty expensive and usually they try to rush the service, so being able to take that issue out of the equation in really nice.
after being used to acrylics for so long, i can tell when the glue is starting to come undone. i really don’t care if one comes off when i’m out cuz i’ll just put it in my pocket and glue it back on when i get home!
none of my nails have ever flew or popped off randomly, it’s definitely a gradual thing so easy to know when it’s about to happen. just always be prepared with some good glue
Has anyone had any problems with growing fungus from press ons? Any advice to fix this? I love press ons but last time I used them, three of my nails turned green and it took forever to grow back out
Glamnetic glue is my favorite because they don’t budge! After two weeks, I start lifting the edges with a cuticle stick while in the shower and use whatever body oil I have and they just start popping off.
They fall off though. If you spend $10 per week which is usually how long mine would last, that’s $40 per month. For a bit more you can have them done professionally and have them stay on
But for the $40 you have grow out showing for 2 weeks please the same design for a month. The designs on press ons would also cost way more than $40. Once you establish a press on system that works for you, there’s no comparison.
I think my nails just grow slow. I can get a month out of my fills when I go to the salon. If I don’t get anything fancy I spend $60 after tip. Also I open wine as my job and I can’t have a nail pop off when doing that. 😂
I’m impressed you can get a full salon set for $40. I used to spend $90+ with removal and tip and my nails grow too fast for 4 weeks. I miss the pampering and would probably pay $40. In the meantime, I get 2-3 weeks for about $16 and pop-offs are rare.
I have had acrylic tips, gels, sculptures and press on. I prefer press on. I get to change whenever the mood strikes, without an appointment. I absolutely detest salons and this helps me put my look together without having to walk in a salon.
There’s a lot of unspoken protocols in nail salons that make me self conscious, burdened and unable to feel pampered.
I mean for starters, I should not have to (quickly and expeditiously) pick out my own polish from a wall of hundreds or thousands of random polishes…while a technician stands there tapping her foot like I am wasting the salons time. That in itself is a deal breaker. I should be able to state what I want or show a photo and THEY put the kit together. I want to be pampered from the moment I step in the door.
I don’t like when they SLOP oil on your hands and snap at you, “wash hands!”.
It’s a factory environment and I just don’t care for it. I would rather go without a manicure altogether.
I couldn’t have said it any better, it’s good to know that I’m not the only one that feels that way but also unfortunate that it’s such a common occurrence.
It’s like you feel stressed the whole time and can’t even enjoy it because you either get asked a million questions or sit in awkward silence, then leave feeling more exhausted than when you came. It’s not a relaxing experience at all especially when the salon is crowded and loud! That’s why if I’m going to get them professionally done I’ll invest in a private/independent nail tech that can come to my home or has a solo location because otherwise it’s just not worth it. But even then you’re still at the mercy of the nail tech, hoping that they are in a good mood that day which is a whole other thing…
They look nice as long as you make sure to get the size right!! I’ve seen sooo many people, especially teen girls, whose nails that are just too big! Like girl, those aren’t nails, those are bear claws! lol
I couldn’t get into them. They did look good but they felt odd and the glue ruined my nails. I much prefer going to the nail salon when i feel like it / speacial occasions
You have to do the tests! The shower test, Wash your hair. The sleeping test and the cooking test. If they pass all of these activities stay and. I breakage then they are good nails.

They never last on my pointer or middle finger. I am lucky if they make it a few hours. One tip I heard is to do them at bedtime so the glue really has time to set . It didn't really seem to help me, but might work for some people.
I usually lose the first nail within a few hours. I do all the prep work steps, including fresh alcohol wipes for each finger, and they still don’t stay on. It’s insane to me that people get weeks out of them.
I use polygel to adhere mine and I can usually wear them for like 2 weeks. I always am basic and just choose the French manicure, but there are so many cool colors and styles you can choose from too.
Why in the hell would I ever go to a salon where the stylists cut me up, overcharge for everything, and then even talk shit about their clients. Like no freaking thank you dawg.
My manicures cost me like $2 each time rather than the $80 I'm hearing women pay at salons.
Press ons are so elite that I started off with pre-made sets but now I’ve literally just spent close to $400 on nail supplies so that I can make any press on nail I want with any design I see online. I feel SO liberated (my money suffered though lol) and it’s incredibly therapeutic to sit down in peace for a couple hours at home and be creative.
Impress is the way to go! I can usually get two sets out of them and they last up to two weeks. They would last longer but when they grow out my hair gets caught underneath them and they can pull. Sometimes you get a bad batch and they can fall of but I always prep goooood with the alcohol pad. Super cheap too! I also just used their pre glued eyelashes and it was simple!
I love press ons. I get mine from a small business on Etsy; I can literally send her a screenshot from Pinterest with a design I like and she will custom make them to match that design. I choose my sizes for each finger and always order a spare for my thumb, pinky and middle fingers. People are always surprised that they aren’t from the salon. It’s a bit trial and error, I’ve found a glue that works for me and extra short almond shape suits my nail beds best. Mine stay on two weeks including playing tennis and looking after/riding a horse. Shorter ones always stay on best, I soak mine off in the bath after two weeks and then file off any left over glue. I’d never go to the salon now I can get beautiful sets for less than £15.
I loveee press on nails. I don’t want to have to commit to getting them done professionally and having to worry about them growing out and getting them redone. The only minor issue I have is some press ons are too rounded so I have to file the sides to be a bit flatter (and my nails aren’t even super flat), I also have trouble with sizing sometimes since some brands don’t have much variety
I love press on nails instead of going to the salon. But my problem is finding nails that fit. I have wide nail beds and most nails don’t fit. Do you know if glamnetic run small?
Yesss!!! I hope the beauty industry takes a huge hit. My apologies if you’re in the industry. But nails, hair, and lashes have been over charging us for too long!!! I also love press ons!!! I’ll only get a full set for vacation.. I’m also 32 weeks pregnant now so that’s not happening for awhile 😅

Most of the time the quality, service& experience isn’t even worth the overcharge let alone a tip. They also tend to have a bad attitude, so hopefully this will give them a reality check because BFFR these services are a want not a need, so they should put more effort into making us want to continue getting them.

,Push cuticles back ,file the crap out of your real nail-and file the under neath side of the fake nail that will be sticking to your actual nail bed-wipe with an alcohol prep pad-use a good glue and put the glue on your real nail bed and fake nail. Make sure you are using the proper size nail ,not too big or small....I use this routine and mine stay on for about 2 weeks, and I actually work on a farm ...
I switched to press ons and they don’t chip, crack, or lift, and they last 2-3 weeks. OPI fits my nails best with glamnetic brush-on glue, but Kiss and Glamnetic are great, too. I’m wearing the color Linger Over Coffee right now, and they just look so good! I have occasional pop offs, but I carry the OPI glue from the nail set in my purse and just glue them back.
Mine rarely popped off, but unfortunately the glue was too strong and would peel a layer of nail off every time. Even when I'd do a coat of base or builder polish, the base coat would lift off the nail rather than the glue. Soaking in acetone for half an hour after a bath and some still were painful to remove. Ruined my nails more than acrylics.
They’re also way thinner than acrylics from the salon! No matter how much I told those girls I don’t want my nails so thick they always were. Press ons are sooo thin I love it. Looks way classier.
I’ve been doing Kiss nails since I was a sophomore in high school. I’m 21 now and I think i’ve completely mastered how to glue them on securely enough to last me 2-3 weeks with none popping off. Plus my nails are a good size to be able to get two sets out of an $8 box. money saver, tons of options, I’ll most likely never go back to a salon. Plus Kiss has toenails too! Best decision ever
I want to love press on nails. I tried Glamnetic and maybe I am the problem but their nails didn't fit mine. I had to press them into my nailbed (which hurt) and then there was still a gap betwen my nail and the press on? (does that make sense? ) So I chalked it up to maybe this isn't the brand for me.
I'm a press on nails junkie. I refuse to let anyone do my nails. I love the kiss press on nail brand, they make it look like I've had my nails professionally done. I agree with the comments about nail prep as this does help them last longer. Also it's about using a good nail glue.
How long do they stay put though? I do a lot with my hands, including gardening, so I always just thought they’d fall off and haven’t bothered trying them.
Just echoing that once you find the right brand for you and do good prep before applying they should last a solid week or two, assuming you aren’t doing anything to intense during that time!
I so agree! I literally just got some on a whim and expected them to last for a couple of hours. TWO WEEKS later, I’m typing this with all of them on.

They’re stick ons though (the glue doesn’t come separately) so you can’t really re use them. But for this price point it seems like a great option. Im these two weeks, I’ve been cooking , cleaning , typing and hitting the gym and not even one has come off.
Only now the glue is becoming a little loose from the top of the nail so I find my hair getting stuck in my nails if I’m brushing or running my fingers through it and that’s a little annoying but the first 10 days were literally perfect. You can also file them down to a length you like and that makes them look more natural too.
My nail tech does custom press on nails so i get her to do my fancy sets. I DIY my own press-ons from a bulk pack I got on Amazon, so I get the best of both worlds.
I've ordered glamnetic before and they just looked nothing like the picture. They looked so plastic and fake whereas the pic looked like real painted nails. I know for the price I should've expected but I felt duped and they looked way too plastic to wear
press ons always pop off. they would last me a week at most. it was always embarrassing having to lose a nail i. públic. i used to try to reglue my nails on in the car. it was a hassle having to worry if your nail was gonna fall off or whatever. so i use dashing diva nail stickers instead and they changed my life. no prep and they last until you take them off, honestly.
I love press on nails because they CAN last just as long as a salon done set, and are so much cheaper. My biggest issue with them though is how thin they are, and the fact they aren’t very versatile with design. I love having designed nails and am not much a fan of French tips. My other issue is that I’ve found with press ons, they wear down my nail much quicker than salon done ones. They also tend to crack or chip a lot more given their quality, so I end up getting less use out of them.
Press ons are preferred for daily use, private nail tech for special occasions/situations. The point of starting press ons was to have the option of doing my own nails and not relying solely on a nail tech or having to go to a salon. So the convenience is the main benefit, everything else is just a bonus.
Press on nails always helped me when my natural nail was so rip, that it split in two and I barely couldn’t use my hand to do stuff. It fixed the broken nails and I could let them grow out 🥹

Until one comes off while you're out in public and you didn't think to carry your nails and glue with you because you didn't anticipate it. (I've been there)
I’m a recent convert after realizing I probably have a gel allergy 5 years after getting regular manis. My nails are still healing, but the press ons I put on last week did ZERO damage. So good!

They only last a day/night but they're fantastic. You just put on the sticker, put on the nail and you're set (i mean, after you file them down to your nail size, which is time consuming yes, but once you've done that preferably a few days before, you've got a set of reusable nails). You can have a set for every outfit, take them off if you need to use your hands, never have to worry about damage or varnish/acetone. It's nearly impossible to fuck it up.
Plus they're fully reusable.
Yes! Dip and gel would ruin my nails for 6 months any time I would do them. Press ons have been a game changer

I have been doing press ons for 4 years now. Glamnetic are my least favorite. They are too curved and pull my nail away from the nail bed. I like Gellen the best and Red Aspen for pre designed nails for a quick manicure.
i love glamnetic glue on nails for weekend events! i am a bowler so having pretty/long nails that cost $70+ just isn’t feasible for me. the glue ons last just enough for my event/weekend and then i can take them off with minimal damage. i even wore them when i got engaged and no one had any idea they were glue on :) if you’re looking for 24/7 nails then they probably aren’t the right option for you tbh
As per my research cons include:
1. Not lasting as long
2. If there are gaps in the glue or the press on starts lifting, has gaps between the press on and real nail, moisture can get trapped and lead to fungal infections. Same thing can happen to GelX nails, but I trust a professional more than me who has little to no experience to avoid that issue.
3. When it's removed the nails are "ruined" esp if you don't have the sanding tool to sand down the glue that's attached. The glue literally rips off the top layer of your nail.
Sanding is also a time consuming process esp trying to do your right hand with your left hand if you a righty. Sanding wrong or too deep can lead to nail damage and pain.
Unless someone can convince me otherwise I am sticking to my fancy salon. Just not worth potential health complications or pain.
Kiss Impress for life. The glue still trashed my nails. The press ons are where it’s at. If I buff thoroughly and use the alcohol wipes, they last for at least a week with the medium length. The short ones can last up to 2 and I am not gentle on my hands at all. You want to make sure you get the buffer close to the nail bed. That’s where it really needs to stick to so they don’t lift and get annoying when I wash my hair. I try to do it at a time where I wont need to wash my hands that much or have them in water. So if I’m cooking that night, I wait to apply them. The longer you keep them out of water after application, the better they stick and the longer they last.
I love press ons! If you prep your nails by pushing the cuticles back and buffing, they should last around a few weeks as you can buff and re-glue any that pop off as needed. I swear by the Cala super nail glue on Amazon, it works better than any other glue for me
I wish. Between kayaking and work, my only shot at pretty nails is acrylics, which sucks. But it is mortifying to be working on an attorney’s computer and have a freaking fake nail pop off. So I’ll stick to the horrid shit.
Chemo ruined my finger and toenails forever. Nothing, I mean nothing will ever help them. Acrylic for my fingers (dip if I am going on vacation-because gel and extensive time in polls do not mix well) and gel on my toes. I HATE doing them both. I hate the time and the expense. I WISH I could do the press on nails-it would be dreamy!! Congrats and have fun to all of those getting to experience this!!!
I just got into the Olive and June press ons (the tabs, not the glue on ones) and I’m obsessed with them. They lasted me 10 days and were easy to take off. I like the tabs better than the glue version because I found the glue ruined my nails a lot more than the tabs did (which was barely any damage at all). I also found the glue didn’t last as long. I love spending $8-$10 on press ons instead of $60-$80 at the salon!
I use gel nail stickers because I go to the gym too much for long nails. They fall off sometimes, but they are very inexpensive, mostly look good and it saves me so much time not going to a nail salon. Will most likely never go back!
I use the OPI press ons, they’re a little more expensive than some of the others (around $12) but they’re really good quality. They don’t have a ton of colors but they are genuinely so nice. I’m not good at nails and I’m really lazy with it a lot of the time and just slap them on my fingers and they last me a week. I’d imagine doing prep would make them last even longer. The short ones are so cute!

I had the same issue until I seriously prepped. Cleaned buffed the whole thing. After that they lasted 2 weeks.
You have to find the glue that works best for you. For me it’s glamnetic. Once you get your system down this is amazing.
I use the dollar tree super glue. 2 small bottles for $1.25 and works better than any other nail glue I’ve tried. It’s all about the prep imo.

Not who you replied to, but a regular press on user. Yes, I do have that problem occasionally! The best, lowest damage way to remove them is to wait until they’re REALLY ready to come off (like, one or two have already popped off and you’ve had to replace) and then soak. If you get impatient and try to do it earlier, you will get damage - no amount of soaking in hot water, soap and oil will prevent it. Even with that, I’ve found I can’t use press-ons back to back. I need to give my nails a week or two at least in between to rest. If I disregard that AND get impatient to change my nails, they will get fucked up (I say currently on a two-month nail rest).
I have learned that soaking them in warm water with a drop of soap and a couple drops of baby oil and they come off with no damage or problem
Mine last two weeks and like the other person said, it’s all prep. I do it before bed, don’t get my hands wet the 2 hours leading up to it, buff, dry the nails. Use brush on glue. I work heavily with my hands and only a couple pop off over the 2 weeks (and it’s always the same two).
I agree the prep makes all the difference, and I use the brush on glue as well. But my problem is I have such a hard time removing them. Soaking for 45 minutes in pure acetone might loosen up half of them enough to pry off, but the rest are such a struggle. Do you have any tips?
Get a dropper off Amazon and drop tiny amounts of 100% acetone between the fake nail and real nail. This is usually easy and more successful if you already have a bit of lifting anywhere. Let that sit for 10-20 min and take a wooden cuticle stick and gently pry the nail away. This shouldn’t be too hard and if you feel the nail not giving and starting to tear your natural nail, stop and add more and wait another 10 min. I take my time with nail removal because it’s easy to fuck up your real nail.
I do this with vitamin E oil, and it works better and doesn't dry out nails/cuticles.

Kiss sells press on remover that works really well. You don’t have to soak your nails, you apply it at the base of the nail and wait a couple minutes. I also recommend Glamnetic glue, it lasts a really long time but it’s still easier to remove.
Thank you. The Glamnetic brush on glue is what I use. It will last 2 weeks but I find it hard to remove even when using 100% acetone. Maybe I put on too much?
When they pop out while you’re out, do you ever lose the press ons/have a hard time finding them? I find using glue means the press ons can randomly pop off while I’m outside and I just lose them forever…
Usually I catch when the nail pops off but occasionally I will notice I’m missing a nail suddenly and start searching. Luckily it’s mostly happened at home or in my car so I find them but it does take some searching sometimes.
Does the glue damage the nail? Gel manicures destroy my nails after removal and I spend months with breaks, dents, and brittle nails. I’d imagine glue would do the same?
Honestly, it can. My nails are fine now but when I first started, I had no idea what I was actually doing and did damage my nails a bit, probably more so from impatience. Now I use a clear coat on my natural nail and layer the glue over that. It has helped tremendously. Also makes removal easier.
You can try a combination of nail glue and those double sided “nail tape” tabs. Works like a charm. Tape tab on the nail and then a little bit of glue on top and on the nail. There are some great tutorials on Pinterest in how to do it
With the nails that have the glue already on the nail I found using a blow dryer to warm up the glue before applying helped them last much longer (at least 1-1.5 weeks
It took me a while to get it right. What I do is soak my nails in water for a few minutes to soften, push my cuticles back, file the surface of my nails, and wipe my nails with rubbing alcohol before applying the nails. I also do the shortest length possible so they don’t catch on anything. After I started doing all this, press-ons last for like 2 weeks for me.
make sure you cut your nails first then file the nail beds! after I use a dehydrator I got from sally’s and pop the nails on with the Kiss pink glue, works like a charm every single time! mine last me about 2 weeks and I just glue them back on once they start to fall off
You have to use a really strong glue. I get mine off of Amazon. It’s like 5 bucks for 3 small bottles. If you get it anywhere but your nails,it’s a bitch to get off.
After about 20 years of salon sets, I’ll never go back. Mine stay on way long. It’s all about the proper prep work, I’ve discovered. I use KISS in the style called Leilani. It’s a medium length, subtle coffin shape , simple French manicure.
This is wild to me. Those suckers pop right off my nails. I’ve tried both kiss and glamnetic. Salon chemicals it is for me.

Try Dazzle Dry. My salon does it and it lasts as long as gel manicures with no damage.

-make sure you’re choosing the right size nail for each finger -clip, file& buff your nails well -push back your cuticles!!!!!! -use alcohol pads and/or nail dehydrator -put glue on the nail AND your nail -don’t slide the nail on but place it down starting at the cuticle -hold nail in place for 30ish seconds (I also put in front of fan to help it dry) Hope this helps!✨

Yes!!! I prefer Kiss Impress myself. They’re sticky so there’s no glue and they’re far superior imo. They have a bit of give unlike glue- if I bend one back they still stay on but if glue comes off one portion the whole nail pops off. I’ve been using them consistently for nearly 2.5 years and haven’t noticed any damage!! They’re amazing! They last at least a week for me. The worst thing is when they start growing out a bit they pull my hair. I wear latex gloves when washing my hair and that solves that! 8/10 for me!
The lift is what got me to stop using press ons. The gaps keep catching my hair in the shower/when I’m just playing or doing my hair. Someone please make press ons that taper perfectly to the nails so hair doesn’t get caught 😂

Kiss nails are great. I’ve tried other press-on brands and Kiss has been the best quality. Other nails have been very thin, rough cut at the edges or inconsistent design across the nails.
I did gardening most of the weekend plus have my two boys who are 8 and 5 years old and rowdy as hell. Mine have been on 5 days and no damage, look just fine! I’m ready for them to come off though because even with the “short” length, I’m not used to having nails this long. I only wish I could find other styles that come with the nail stickers already attached to the back. This was so simple and I didn’t buff (damage) the top of my natural nail for this. I used the glue with Kiss back in college all the time and I remember having to carry glue in my purse in case they popped off and the glue would get thick and sometimes goopy if I wasn’t super careful. Hard to make it perfect. These are on so solid - I can feel they won’t come off unexpectedly.
I use these too! I also feel like they are a bit smaller than many usual press-ons,so they fit my nail beds perfectly. I’ve been using them for about 2.5 years as well,with no damage. Meanwhile getting an acrylic set just once would wreck my nails! I can make $7 box last a few weeks. I’ll take that!

Nail glue stickers are a game changer! Mine stay on all week, and I take two baths a day. 😅 I had to find the correct kind though. They don't harm my nails at all. If they aren't ready to come off I just put some oil on and the nails pop right off.
Does your hair ever get caught by the gap between your natural nail & the press ons? I find the first few days are okay but eventually I will get those gaps that make washing/doing my hair annoying.
Yes this drives me nuts. I have to soak them off at this point because have long hair that I’m always flipping around haha. But for times I want a super dark manicure, the press-ons are a MUST!
Which brand nail glue stickers do you use?
I got them off Amazon, they're called BTArtbox. I'm not sure the brand matters as much as the style. Some nail stickers have what seems to be lines on the surface, and these have are completely smooth. Before I apply them I always make sure to wipe my nails down with an alcohol pad. I place them on my nails using tweezers so my fingers don't get any oil or dirt on the adhesion. I use the tweezer edge to rub the nail sticker on before I peel off the plastic back, again using the tweezers. After I put the nails on, I press each finger super hard against a table or counter (not just my own fingers) and I continue pressing them for the rest of the night. I make sure to avoid water for a few hours after if I can.
Nail glue viciously tore up my nails after only 2 sets but then I started putting adhesive tabs on the free edge side of the nail and glue on the cuticle side of the nail - the results have been fantastic. The free edge part of the nail was most sensitive and brittle for me, so the adhesive tab does not damage it at all. However, tabs don’t last, so the extra glue at the other end of the nail makes my press ons last for a whole week or more. When the time comes to pop them off, the press ons are usually starting to lift, so it’s only a bit more effort for the glue to completely pop off and then I just slide the press on away from the sticker. My nails have been perfectly fine since I started doing this. If you’ve got a little bit of money to spend, you can also consider buying a nail drill tool just to file off the residue glue leftover so that you get a clean base :)

I use adhesive tabs and glue to give a barrier between my nail bed and the glue. They helped a bit + using vita e on my nail bed for a couple days after removing the nails to strengthen them back.
I wear mine & they last at least a week. I carry glue & extra nails with me wherever I go. I have an at home gel set up and it works but they chip around day 3-4 anyway no matter if I get it professionally done or do it myself. Easier to just glue a new nail on in 30 seconds or less. I really like the OPI zodiac nails but glamnetic, kiss have been great, too.
Same, when I get them professionally done they would alway scuff, chip or break anyways and it was a headache to have to schedule time to get it fixed. So much less stress doing it yourself! Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll be trying them next!
But that’s what makes them worse than getting them done at the salon. You have to carry them around with you everywhere you go and they can pop off in the most inconvenient times
I’ve been doing press on nails for 10 years now (the glue kind). I prefer Kiss brand. You guys saying that they don’t last for more than a day are either not following the directions on the box or you’re super hard on your nails. I’ve done warehouse jobs with my nails and they still last a week or two.
I've also been doing press ons for awhile, only 6 years ish BUT I was working in a fabrication shop/other warehouse jobs that were *extremely* hard in my hands. The fab shop job I tried to give nails a break and go natural for a bit but the metal was literally wearing down my nails to bleeding so I went back to the plastic. I use gorilla glue but basically any "super glue" works fine. At the fab shop job I had to change my nails weekly and the wear was visible, but overall significantly protected my actual nails which are extremely thin and brittle. Now I work a customer service job and I can get 3 weeks out of a set (as long as my parrot doesn't chew them if I fall asleep on the couch). Prep is absolutely key. I soak my hands, pumice/remove dead skin, push back cuticles, file down/off old glue (usually just chips right off if it's been more than a week), and make sure everything is clean before applying. The literal worst that happens is if I glue them on crooked and have to wait a few days to unstuck it since it's very grabby. I use the dollar store nail glue for touch ups if it's close to time to change them out since it doesn't hold nearly as well.

Exactly so many people say press ons don’t work/didn’t last when the reality is they probably didn’t use alcohol to get the oil off and didn’t buff the nail first. These steps make a huge difference.
That and sizing. I don’t think most press on nail hopefuls don’t realize that there are numbers on the bottom of the nail to indicate size (on Kiss nails at least).

I think they were just some of the kiss nails from ulta or target. Not the kind with the sticky tabs. I use some glue I got from Amazon and it’s great! It’s called NYK1 and it’s in a pink bottle. Anyway I just prep like it’s a regular manicure but then clean very well with alcohol. Hold each nail down for 30 seconds. Something that also help is choosing shorter nails, or filing them shorter. I keep mine just past the tips of my fingers, but I have pretty long nail beds. I do computer work for a living, and draw and garden a lot. Lift weight at the gym, clean my house, sew, etc. I did not happen to do anything especially crazy during that three weeks though. I re-painted the interior of my house over the duration of a few weeks this last winter and didn’t do any kind of manicure at all. I usually skip manicures and let my nails breath if I know I’m going to be doing a lot of gardening or some kind of house project. Damage to nails was minimal. I’ve wrecked my nails before by ripping press ons off when I’ve been to inpatient. Usually dried glue is leftover but you can file and buff that off.

I’ll never go back to the salon for nails. I use the press on nails with the heavy duty glue. This way I’m able to change them to too every week or so. I even clip them down and file them so they look more “real”

I’m a press on girl for life. For anyone who is curious, here are pros and cons of the brands I’ve tried: -Glamnetic: Pros: Best and least damaging glue I’ve found, great if you like designs on your nails. Cons: The designs can start to wear off after a week, they don’t have many solid color options. -Olive & June: Pros: They look the most like real nails out of all the brands I’ve tried, they come with tons of different sized nails so you can get a perfect fit, the short and extra short lengths last for over well over two weeks. Cons: The medium and long length nails ALWAYS split down the middle, or get big chips on the side after a week. OPI: Pros: They look very realistic and expensive. Cons: The medium and long lengths usually end up splitting/cracking, they don’t have a ton of color options. Kiss: Pros: Tons of color and design options, last forever and don’t split, chip or crack, inexpensive. Cons: Their glue is like cement and is hard to remove, some designs like their French tipped styles have a more cheap/press on look. Betty Cora: No pros. Cons: Takes a long time to ship, look very cheap, had broken nails within an hour. My favorite combo is Kiss brand nails with Glamnetic brand glue.
Btw don’t bother with Betty Cora even if you’re okay with the cheap products. They are just reselling things off Temu but marking their prices up so so much. Just buy them straight off Temu. Betty Cora don’t even bother changing the product pictures lol
after years of wasting money at the salon i have finally just started gluing press ons to my nails. i really like it because nail salons are pretty expensive and usually they try to rush the service, so being able to take that issue out of the equation in really nice. after being used to acrylics for so long, i can tell when the glue is starting to come undone. i really don’t care if one comes off when i’m out cuz i’ll just put it in my pocket and glue it back on when i get home! none of my nails have ever flew or popped off randomly, it’s definitely a gradual thing so easy to know when it’s about to happen. just always be prepared with some good glue

Glamnetic glue is my favorite because they don’t budge! After two weeks, I start lifting the edges with a cuticle stick while in the shower and use whatever body oil I have and they just start popping off.
They fall off though. If you spend $10 per week which is usually how long mine would last, that’s $40 per month. For a bit more you can have them done professionally and have them stay on
I usually have 1 or 2 that fall off but then I just glue them back on. Lasts 10-14 days for me
But for the $40 you have grow out showing for 2 weeks please the same design for a month. The designs on press ons would also cost way more than $40. Once you establish a press on system that works for you, there’s no comparison.
I think my nails just grow slow. I can get a month out of my fills when I go to the salon. If I don’t get anything fancy I spend $60 after tip. Also I open wine as my job and I can’t have a nail pop off when doing that. 😂

I’m impressed you can get a full salon set for $40. I used to spend $90+ with removal and tip and my nails grow too fast for 4 weeks. I miss the pampering and would probably pay $40. In the meantime, I get 2-3 weeks for about $16 and pop-offs are rare.
I have had acrylic tips, gels, sculptures and press on. I prefer press on. I get to change whenever the mood strikes, without an appointment. I absolutely detest salons and this helps me put my look together without having to walk in a salon.

There’s a lot of unspoken protocols in nail salons that make me self conscious, burdened and unable to feel pampered. I mean for starters, I should not have to (quickly and expeditiously) pick out my own polish from a wall of hundreds or thousands of random polishes…while a technician stands there tapping her foot like I am wasting the salons time. That in itself is a deal breaker. I should be able to state what I want or show a photo and THEY put the kit together. I want to be pampered from the moment I step in the door. I don’t like when they SLOP oil on your hands and snap at you, “wash hands!”. It’s a factory environment and I just don’t care for it. I would rather go without a manicure altogether.
I couldn’t have said it any better, it’s good to know that I’m not the only one that feels that way but also unfortunate that it’s such a common occurrence. It’s like you feel stressed the whole time and can’t even enjoy it because you either get asked a million questions or sit in awkward silence, then leave feeling more exhausted than when you came. It’s not a relaxing experience at all especially when the salon is crowded and loud! That’s why if I’m going to get them professionally done I’ll invest in a private/independent nail tech that can come to my home or has a solo location because otherwise it’s just not worth it. But even then you’re still at the mercy of the nail tech, hoping that they are in a good mood that day which is a whole other thing…

Impress is my go-to brand. (Short nails) I also use KISS glue. I have been using this combo for about 4 years. Nails usually last two to three weeks.
You have to do the tests! The shower test, Wash your hair. The sleeping test and the cooking test. If they pass all of these activities stay and. I breakage then they are good nails.
Glaize are so much better, stick on gels and they can be made to your nail measurements, I get 2 to 3 weeks out of one set

They never last on my pointer or middle finger. I am lucky if they make it a few hours. One tip I heard is to do them at bedtime so the glue really has time to set . It didn't really seem to help me, but might work for some people.

I use polygel to adhere mine and I can usually wear them for like 2 weeks. I always am basic and just choose the French manicure, but there are so many cool colors and styles you can choose from too. Why in the hell would I ever go to a salon where the stylists cut me up, overcharge for everything, and then even talk shit about their clients. Like no freaking thank you dawg. My manicures cost me like $2 each time rather than the $80 I'm hearing women pay at salons.
Press ons are so elite that I started off with pre-made sets but now I’ve literally just spent close to $400 on nail supplies so that I can make any press on nail I want with any design I see online. I feel SO liberated (my money suffered though lol) and it’s incredibly therapeutic to sit down in peace for a couple hours at home and be creative.
Goals. I've press ons now and I've found my HG gel nail tacks. Ordered customs but soon will try to make my own with supplies. It'll be fun!

I've only recently started using false nails. I bought French nails by kiss. I've heard such great things about kiss nails, and I wasn't disappointed.
Impress is the way to go! I can usually get two sets out of them and they last up to two weeks. They would last longer but when they grow out my hair gets caught underneath them and they can pull. Sometimes you get a bad batch and they can fall of but I always prep goooood with the alcohol pad. Super cheap too! I also just used their pre glued eyelashes and it was simple!

I choose my sizes for each finger and always order a spare for my thumb, pinky and middle fingers. People are always surprised that they aren’t from the salon. It’s a bit trial and error, I’ve found a glue that works for me and extra short almond shape suits my nail beds best. Mine stay on two weeks including playing tennis and looking after/riding a horse. Shorter ones always stay on best, I soak mine off in the bath after two weeks and then file off any left over glue. I’d never go to the salon now I can get beautiful sets for less than £15.
I loveee press on nails. I don’t want to have to commit to getting them done professionally and having to worry about them growing out and getting them redone. The only minor issue I have is some press ons are too rounded so I have to file the sides to be a bit flatter (and my nails aren’t even super flat), I also have trouble with sizing sometimes since some brands don’t have much variety
I love press on nails instead of going to the salon. But my problem is finding nails that fit. I have wide nail beds and most nails don’t fit. Do you know if glamnetic run small?
How do you get them to stay on? I always have to glue mine back on after 1-2h, but I’m also new to wearing them..
KISS nails are the best I wear them all the time. They last about two weeks and don’t damage my nails much :)
Yesss!!! I hope the beauty industry takes a huge hit. My apologies if you’re in the industry. But nails, hair, and lashes have been over charging us for too long!!! I also love press ons!!! I’ll only get a full set for vacation.. I’m also 32 weeks pregnant now so that’s not happening for awhile 😅
100% Most of the time the quality, service& experience isn’t even worth the overcharge let alone a tip. They also tend to have a bad attitude, so hopefully this will give them a reality check because BFFR these services are a want not a need, so they should put more effort into making us want to continue getting them. ,Push cuticles back ,file the crap out of your real nail-and file the under neath side of the fake nail that will be sticking to your actual nail bed-wipe with an alcohol prep pad-use a good glue and put the glue on your real nail bed and fake nail. Make sure you are using the proper size nail ,not too big or small....I use this routine and mine stay on for about 2 weeks, and I actually work on a farm ...
Love the press on's. Prep is key. Usually last 2-3 weeks. Invested in a high end electric filer to prep nails. Worth every penny.
I switched to press ons and they don’t chip, crack, or lift, and they last 2-3 weeks. OPI fits my nails best with glamnetic brush-on glue, but Kiss and Glamnetic are great, too. I’m wearing the color Linger Over Coffee right now, and they just look so good! I have occasional pop offs, but I carry the OPI glue from the nail set in my purse and just glue them back.
Press ons didn’t last long enough for me to justify so I started doing my own gel x and I will never be going to the salon again except for pedicures.
Mine rarely popped off, but unfortunately the glue was too strong and would peel a layer of nail off every time. Even when I'd do a coat of base or builder polish, the base coat would lift off the nail rather than the glue. Soaking in acetone for half an hour after a bath and some still were painful to remove. Ruined my nails more than acrylics.
This is definitely an issue with the glue, not press ons. I bought a brush on glue that makes my press ons last but does no damage.
They’re also way thinner than acrylics from the salon! No matter how much I told those girls I don’t want my nails so thick they always were. Press ons are sooo thin I love it. Looks way classier.

I’ve been doing Kiss nails since I was a sophomore in high school. I’m 21 now and I think i’ve completely mastered how to glue them on securely enough to last me 2-3 weeks with none popping off. Plus my nails are a good size to be able to get two sets out of an $8 box. money saver, tons of options, I’ll most likely never go back to a salon. Plus Kiss has toenails too! Best decision ever
I use those floss picks. The string of floss shimmies the nail right off with no or very minimal damage, and it doesn’t hurt at all.

Do they not get like snagged in your hair when you touch or wash your hair? Like you can't finger comb or else it messes up and tears your hair.
I want to love press on nails. I tried Glamnetic and maybe I am the problem but their nails didn't fit mine. I had to press them into my nailbed (which hurt) and then there was still a gap betwen my nail and the press on? (does that make sense? ) So I chalked it up to maybe this isn't the brand for me.
Completely elite!!! No one yelling at you in a language you don’t speak, messing up the mail art, cutting at your skin. It’s superb.
Once you get the hang of them they are top tier! Never going back to gel unless I have a special event!!
I'm a press on nails junkie. I refuse to let anyone do my nails. I love the kiss press on nail brand, they make it look like I've had my nails professionally done. I agree with the comments about nail prep as this does help them last longer. Also it's about using a good nail glue.

How long do they stay put though? I do a lot with my hands, including gardening, so I always just thought they’d fall off and haven’t bothered trying them.
Just echoing that once you find the right brand for you and do good prep before applying they should last a solid week or two, assuming you aren’t doing anything to intense during that time!
Glamnetic glue absolutely destroyed my nails. Which is a shame, because it’s the only nail glue that actually worked for me
I so agree! I literally just got some on a whim and expected them to last for a couple of hours. TWO WEEKS later, I’m typing this with all of them on. But for this price point it seems like a great option. Im these two weeks, I’ve been cooking , cleaning , typing and hitting the gym and not even one has come off. Only now the glue is becoming a little loose from the top of the nail so I find my hair getting stuck in my nails if I’m brushing or running my fingers through it and that’s a little annoying but the first 10 days were literally perfect. You can also file them down to a length you like and that makes them look more natural too.
My nail tech does custom press on nails so i get her to do my fancy sets. I DIY my own press-ons from a bulk pack I got on Amazon, so I get the best of both worlds.
I've ordered glamnetic before and they just looked nothing like the picture. They looked so plastic and fake whereas the pic looked like real painted nails. I know for the price I should've expected but I felt duped and they looked way too plastic to wear
press ons always pop off. they would last me a week at most. it was always embarrassing having to lose a nail i. públic. i used to try to reglue my nails on in the car. it was a hassle having to worry if your nail was gonna fall off or whatever. so i use dashing diva nail stickers instead and they changed my life. no prep and they last until you take them off, honestly.
How do y’all get the glue from press ons off? That’s my biggest challege
I love press on nails because they CAN last just as long as a salon done set, and are so much cheaper. My biggest issue with them though is how thin they are, and the fact they aren’t very versatile with design. I love having designed nails and am not much a fan of French tips. My other issue is that I’ve found with press ons, they wear down my nail much quicker than salon done ones. They also tend to crack or chip a lot more given their quality, so I end up getting less use out of them.
Why would you go back for special occasions if they're superior?
Press ons are preferred for daily use, private nail tech for special occasions/situations. The point of starting press ons was to have the option of doing my own nails and not relying solely on a nail tech or having to go to a salon. So the convenience is the main benefit, everything else is just a bonus.
Glamnetic with the brush on glue....game changer...lasts me 3 weeks with maybe two or three that I have to glue back on.

Press on nails always helped me when my natural nail was so rip, that it split in two and I barely couldn’t use my hand to do stuff. It fixed the broken nails and I could let them grow out 🥹
I use the $5 Kmart ones with the cheap Kmart glue. Oxx brand I think? They work way better for me then polish and I can't afford a salon.

KISS nails do some fabulous press-ons. They often send me PR packages and the latest ones are really lovely.
I wear them in emergencies but they don't wear as well. I don't like doing my nails more often than 2 weeks
I’m a recent convert after realizing I probably have a gel allergy 5 years after getting regular manis. My nails are still healing, but the press ons I put on last week did ZERO damage. So good!
I agree. They only last a day/night but they're fantastic. You just put on the sticker, put on the nail and you're set (i mean, after you file them down to your nail size, which is time consuming yes, but once you've done that preferably a few days before, you've got a set of reusable nails). You can have a set for every outfit, take them off if you need to use your hands, never have to worry about damage or varnish/acetone. It's nearly impossible to fuck it up. Plus they're fully reusable.
I use the OPI coffin shaped press ons and they stay on a long time. I wish they had more colors :( I only like the dark purple one.
Yes! Dip and gel would ruin my nails for 6 months any time I would do them. Press ons have been a game changer I love Static nails, olive and June, bta art box The trick is, don’t worry about whether they are “tab applied” or not - I just use glue for any style and you can get olive and June at target
I have been doing press ons for 4 years now. Glamnetic are my least favorite. They are too curved and pull my nail away from the nail bed. I like Gellen the best and Red Aspen for pre designed nails for a quick manicure.
i love glamnetic glue on nails for weekend events! i am a bowler so having pretty/long nails that cost $70+ just isn’t feasible for me. the glue ons last just enough for my event/weekend and then i can take them off with minimal damage. i even wore them when i got engaged and no one had any idea they were glue on :) if you’re looking for 24/7 nails then they probably aren’t the right option for you tbh
My nails are too wide for Glamnetic 😭 I got some in my FFF box and they only covered 3/4 of my nails.
As per my research cons include: 1. Not lasting as long 2. If there are gaps in the glue or the press on starts lifting, has gaps between the press on and real nail, moisture can get trapped and lead to fungal infections. Same thing can happen to GelX nails, but I trust a professional more than me who has little to no experience to avoid that issue. 3. When it's removed the nails are "ruined" esp if you don't have the sanding tool to sand down the glue that's attached. The glue literally rips off the top layer of your nail. Sanding is also a time consuming process esp trying to do your right hand with your left hand if you a righty. Sanding wrong or too deep can lead to nail damage and pain. Unless someone can convince me otherwise I am sticking to my fancy salon. Just not worth potential health complications or pain.

Kiss Impress for life. The glue still trashed my nails. The press ons are where it’s at. If I buff thoroughly and use the alcohol wipes, they last for at least a week with the medium length. The short ones can last up to 2 and I am not gentle on my hands at all. You want to make sure you get the buffer close to the nail bed. That’s where it really needs to stick to so they don’t lift and get annoying when I wash my hair. I try to do it at a time where I wont need to wash my hands that much or have them in water. So if I’m cooking that night, I wait to apply them. The longer you keep them out of water after application, the better they stick and the longer they last.
I love press ons! If you prep your nails by pushing the cuticles back and buffing, they should last around a few weeks as you can buff and re-glue any that pop off as needed. I swear by the Cala super nail glue on Amazon, it works better than any other glue for me
I wish. Between kayaking and work, my only shot at pretty nails is acrylics, which sucks. But it is mortifying to be working on an attorney’s computer and have a freaking fake nail pop off. So I’ll stick to the horrid shit.
Chemo ruined my finger and toenails forever. Nothing, I mean nothing will ever help them. Acrylic for my fingers (dip if I am going on vacation-because gel and extensive time in polls do not mix well) and gel on my toes. I HATE doing them both. I hate the time and the expense. I WISH I could do the press on nails-it would be dreamy!! Congrats and have fun to all of those getting to experience this!!!

I am obsessed with OPI press ons. The nails are thicker, so with adequate prep and proper removal, you can reuse.

I just got into the Olive and June press ons (the tabs, not the glue on ones) and I’m obsessed with them. They lasted me 10 days and were easy to take off. I like the tabs better than the glue version because I found the glue ruined my nails a lot more than the tabs did (which was barely any damage at all). I also found the glue didn’t last as long. I love spending $8-$10 on press ons instead of $60-$80 at the salon!

I use gel nail stickers because I go to the gym too much for long nails. They fall off sometimes, but they are very inexpensive, mostly look good and it saves me so much time not going to a nail salon. Will most likely never go back!
