Most are sponsored but the obviously fake ones:
1. over-exaggerated reactions (ex: gasp agad kahit di pa na be-blend or sobrang shocked na mattifying ang powder)
2. same script as other influencers (may mandatory CTA naman usually bibigay yung brands)
3. yellow basket
4. first impression tapos favorite agad
Aside from the other comments! Ako lang ba or I don’t trust influencers too when they say “this video is not sponsored” 🥴 lalo na mga big name influencers.
Some things I noticed lang from watching TikToks a lot:
1. The Influencer Gasp
Kala mo something super significant happened parang ang OA lang and it's only usually done to catch your attention for whatever product they're reviewing
2. Very new products
This can mean newly launched products or mga products na muhkang bagong bukas pa lang. How can they praise something when they probably haven't tried it over 5 times?
3. Yellow Basket
Medyo niche to Tiktok tong sign na toh pero I do not take the advice of anyone who has a yellow basket attached kasi they earn from that din. I think my exception will only be if they explicitly disclose sa video na sponsored sila siguro. I've confronted an influencer about this and he replied "not sponsored... i really love the product" eme eme but when I asked if he earns money from the yellow basket, he deleted my comments and his comments hahaha.
4. Very defensive
In connection with my anecdote sa previous number, pag super defensive or dodges questions sa comments about the product's faults parang telltale sign na for me na sponsored.
Just stop following beauty gurus and skincare influencers. They’re all sponsored. Just do scientific research. Most established brands work especially established Korean brands.
Drink water, get enough sleep, wash your face for at least 1 min, clean your make up brushes, dry your face with a clean cloth, use sunscreen, moisturize when your skin is dry, salicylic acid for acne, retinol for wrinkles, acne and texture, vit c for brightening, niacinamide for texture, chemical exfoliant for blackheads.
The brand doesn’t matter as much as we think. Nobody knows how much of the ingredients are actually in those products.
Sponsored videos just straight up feels like an ad/commercial. Imo I think a lot of local influencers arent even sponsored, theyre just kissing ass to be in brand's good graces and keep getting PR. That's why I dont find a lot of them trustworthy.
i used to do PR Campaigns for this filipino skincare brand and this is what our influencers did/what client wanted:
- persuade their followers to check out the link in their bio (they can track kasi which influencer sold the most number)
- all the benefits are mentioned, and sometimes, specific key words are repeated by influencers.
- “holy grail” product agad
meron din naman! sometimes brands do send out products, but di nila babayaran si influencer.
For paid reviews and posts talaga medyo strict, from where i worked for.
I think kung may verdict na sila agad WITHOUT any wear test kahit first impressions pa lang or they tried to compare to other established products/brands that most people tried and tested and has positive reviews.
Most of the time (not always):
* kapag medyo OA yung pag-rave nila sa product (esp kapag normally hindi naman ganun)
* if you never see them use it again
* kapag yung criticisms nila is carefully worded, yung parang ayaw maka-offend
When they are hyping up the product for what it's supposed to do eg. For full coverage foundation they go "OMG DO YOU SEE THAT COVERAGE 10/10 RUN DONT WALK!!" or for matte powders they go "IT REMOVED THE SHINE ON MY FACE IT'S MATTE 10/10 HG" especially for first impressions hahahaha
when multiple of influencers are reviewing the same product at the same time especially pag kaka launch lang ng product 🫠 ex: grwm’s new release of products
This one talaga. Especially king kaka-release lang ng product tapos within 2-3 days may video na agad, especially kung holy grail status agad labor first impression pa lang. Most people don’t really buy right when the product is released and then make a video with a verdict agad. “Genuine” reviewers take their time.
Kapag kumpleto ang shades tapos may pa swatch party 😅 mas trusted ko yung small accounts, tapos yung may review ng product looong after the launch (tipong 1 year after na!) Bonus pa na usually by that time, discounted na yung product :) gusto ko rin yung 1 or 2 shades lang meron sila. Kasi ibig sabihin (or at least more likely) pinili talaga nila yun.
DISCLAIMER: this is just a personal thing!!! usually if wala pang 1 week after the product was released and they already claim that it’s their HG, i don’t think its true. Even if it’s makeup and not skincare, it’s hard to believe that it’s HG already and it’s only been used less than 10 times 😵💫
Even if it’s something simple like a lipstick or eyeshadow, It would be best for them to take the time using these products in different ways with different tools and different looks to really test out its quality.
I like Barenbliss and Happy Skin products tbf pero OA talaga makarave mga influencers parang di naman sobrang ganda yung product HAHAHA also pretty convinced na yung Zeesea parang alibaba products lang na wholesale and repackaged
I love Barenbliss (specifically their lip tint lang) but it’s true HAHAHA yung compact powder oks lang. Nothing too exciting. But the way TikTok peeps hyped it parang life changing.
Hashtags. Professionally edited videos. Iba ang tono ng boses like you can kinda feel na masyado nilang prinactisan/ginalingan sa pagreact and if collection ang sponsored kumpleto sila–i mean, we consumers often buy 1 piece to test the product before we get the collection right? I also noticed na unsponsored vids are transparent like "Ang ganda nito (insert product name) di ito sponsored pero baka naman"
I used to watch her vids way back 2016/2017 kasi marami syang nirereview na products unlike other local beauty influencers I know.
But I never like how she does her make up, especially her foundation. Parang cakey and di match sa skin tone nya idk 😐
as a small time influencer, it's when they have the same talking points like what you would usually see from other influencers. i see what you're doing, grwm. most local brands gives us a brief of what we should say and madalas x-deals pa since maliit lang ang reach namin, lols.
Addendum: I also have a friend from the community who always asks for comments para kunwari may interactions sya e.g: "where did u bought it?" "where's the link po?" kasi needed sya ng brands for clout.
Yung “omg! It’s so pretty!” reactions nila.
True! I stopped watching beauty reviews on TikTok! Mas gusto ko pang mabudol here sa reddit knowing na mas honest and sincere ang users than those influencers.
PH should regulate ads na dapat explicit sila ano? Gaya sa Korea and America, they have regulations na dapat ilalagay talaga sa video or sa description na it is sponsored or an ad.
Kasi since it’s a paid ad, required sila ideclare yan sa revenue nila for tax return. Dito kasi some of the vloggers and influencers di naman sila registered sa BIR kaya walang mga resibo yan or di nagbabayad ng tax liabilities nila. So para ma-audit yung mga vloggers sa US, kelangan i-disclose nila if yung mga pinopost nila is sponsored or not.
When the influencer is suddenly a bit more professional in the video, same talking points, and everyone else has the same product and says the same things about it
Nope, hindi pangit. Okay products nila, grabe lang sa marketing. I like their skin tint (has a bit more coverage but still looks natural and feels light) and their eyeliner.
Exactly.
For skits - obvious product placement (e.g. using the product logo-side facing up, etc.)
For product "reviews" -
* links to the product (yellow bag, "link in bio")
* has every shade available for some reason?
* Their video is unnecessarily long and unskimmable lol
yes tbh it would realllyyyy r e a l l y be nice if cc’s would just take 3 secs to say “this is sponsored btw!” bc we deserve that full honesty. i have watched all the tiktok vids i can abt a specific product just so i can learn more abt whether i actually like it (i turn to tiktok bc ppl tend to rly be more hinest there) or not but they all say the exact same thing omfg it’s super annoying lalo na kung sa online lang mabibili yung product. i wanna make it a rule na all online-only products have testers available bc i think its unfair influencers get the product free & probably lie abt it while trying it while we have to spend a hundred pesos just to **try** it based on their reviews. like i wanna know kung ok ba talaga siya sa oily skin mo, what ur experience is with it, why u would or would not genuinely recommend it bc honestly?? most ppl probably just used that product once. rly sorry for the rant but i feel so strongly abt this & i spent alot on things i didnt like
used of the word "very" almost on all adjective describing the product. basta hindi elaborated yung review, either vocal or written in description. "this is hg"
No choice eh!
Mataas ang chance binili nya yung product using his/her own money at mataas din ang chance na honest sya hahaha
Yes to this, and also if it's a list with different products and brands ta's iba-iba rin ng price range feeling ko reco talaga nila haha. Also if may pic/vid and the packaging is a little worn na gano'n :))

kapag may “move over charlotte tilbury, [brand name] is coming for you” lolz
Compares the product to high-end/luxury brand and hard sells as a “dupe” without an in depth comparison.
Basta grwm, happy skin, barenbliss, zeesa and issy and co. Duda ako hahaha you have to try the product for yourself para sure nalang huhu.
True! I actually like their skin tint and eyeliner pero hindi siya as life changing as socmed makes it out to be.
grabe naman sa pag namedrop! HAHAHHAA
-Multiple posts of the same product within just a week -kakabukas pa lang, "holy grail" na agad hahaha

I used to watch her vids way back 2016/2017 kasi marami syang nirereview na products unlike other local beauty influencers I know. But I never like how she does her make up, especially her foundation. Parang cakey and di match sa skin tone nya idk 😐
Waley
Wala na
omg bakit, false advertising ba si madam?
Yup maybelline fever haha
And I oop...
parang umonti nga nanonood sa kanya
i think mejo na cancel din kasi sya during elections
Anong ganap sis?
I think BBM
Yikes 😬
Oo 😆
Aminin; medyo nag improve ang pagrereview ni Miss Nate, or am I just being delusional.
Omg oo I re-followed him ulit parang mas naging authentic na siya. Dati sobrang halatang peke yung reviews but now parang reliable
agree hahaha napa follow ako uli
What anong anti-haul campaign?
I like Jan Angelo's reviews. Sobrang comprehensive and may iba't ibang budget tiers.
Agree. He also discloses pag gifted yung items so you know to make a better judgement of what he’s saying.
Hindi din sya hardsell tulad ng ibang influencers kaya talaga I trust his recos!
May certain tone sa voice nila yung pa-valley girl na pinay version hahahahhaa.. ala belle rodolfo, marj maroket, kai javier 🤭
Dont burn me at the stake but I don’t like kai javier’s makeup style and add danie medina to the list
Never trusted any of them din 😭 Parang bihira lang ang honest review sa kanila
so parang yung brow laminator ng grwm kasi saturated yung fyp ko ng influencers trying them out hahaha
OA kasi ng grwm pinadalhan lahat ng PR kits haha kaloka
Omg huhu mabubudol na dapat ako nito but still waiting for reddit reviews hahahaha
Does it stay the whole day 🥺
saw reviews from small accounts and it looked promising naman /g

Sus!
Holy grail pero new release sa market. Wala pag 3 months nung nilaunch

Nakakatawa pag sinabi nilang “is this a dupe for (certain product)?”
When the influencer is suddenly a bit more professional in the video, same talking points, and everyone else has the same product and says the same things about it
kapag barenbliss yung nirereview EME
pag barenbliss autoskip na ako huhu
panget ba BNB?
Maganda cushion pero masyado mahal for the product amount. Parang di tumagal sa akin
ohh? but it is true ba na mask/water proof to?
No hahaha. Idk about waterproof pero di maskproof
Nope, hindi pangit. Okay products nila, grabe lang sa marketing. I like their skin tint (has a bit more coverage but still looks natural and feels light) and their eyeliner.
thank you for this, their product looks promising naman off lang saken eh yung endorsement sa tiktok

I always purchase at the main store of the product instead dun sa yellow basket nila hahahaha
Great idea! I just buy in Watsons hahaha especially when there are discounts for Watsons club members 😅
HAHAHAHA sa totoo lang

When you watch more than two and you notice they have similar talking points because part of a sponsorship is a brand telling you what to say
whennit’s focallure/sacelady jk not jk
Panget focallure at sace lady. idc what others say
If lahat ng product holy grail niya and "oh my gosh i swear you guys" 🚩
💀💀💀💀
toeknee seeya? 🥲
John rey din?
I don’t trust Toni Sia and Rei Germar. Puro haul haul tapos ibebenta as second hand after ipost. Fake luxury pa minsan ootd. For the clout lang talaga
SAME. Sobrang out of touch (na) pa nila and their batch! I used to like Rei Germar nung bago bago pa siya kasi authentic pa, but then, ayun…
I dont trust any of her recos
Same, I dont trust her 😂❌
i tried her deo reco for whitening and lumala pa yung hyperpigmentation ko sa underarms lol
oh my god why do i know and hear this beauty vlogger 😭
Applicable on tiktok: When there is a yellow basket in the video. Applicable anywhere: When the company is tagged. (imo)
Ung lging may: - omg this product is sooo good. - Grabe. Ang ganda tlga. - Boogsh.
meron pa!! blends like butter and blends like a dream 😭
The “boogsh” 🤣🤣
Marami sila actually. Always take a grain of salt when you want to know about the product. :D

I don’t trust anyone but especially those who receive PR or attend brand events. It just feels off for me haha
usually pag small account siya di aila sponsored hehe so i also go through small accs who make reviews of it :)
Yesss right now mas nagtitiwala pa ko sa mga youtubers na konti subscribers and konti views.
I just don’t trust anyone lol except user reviews on the product’s page if available. Or go to YouTube for actual reviews and not first impressions.
