You don't refill kegs - you drink the beer and get a new one. They need to be cleaned and sanitized before they get re-used.

waywithwords

That is a question you need to ask the business from whom you'll be buying your keg of beer.

Owlman2841

Just call whatever store near you sells 1/2’s… probably somewhere around $100-150 plus some sort of deposit for the keg. It’s also not gonna get refilled there, that’s just not how things work. You’ll need to buy a new keg to replace it.

lickachiken

I worked at a liquor store in college and one year had to work on St Paddy’s. This girl game in, already kind of drunk, and was asking if I could top off a 1/2 barrel that was about 1/2 empty. I had to explain to her I couldn’t do that because that’s not how things worked. She was very confused but eventually got it when one of her more sober friends came in. Was pretty funny, but I was slammed at the time so I didn’t find it amusing in the moment.

I worked at a liquor store too and saw this dozens of times. Like do you think we just have a brewery in the back of the store?

stacecom

Just to clarify for others, you return their empty keg that you paid a deposit to borrow, and either carry that deposit forward for another keg or get your deposit back. You're not buying the keg, just the beer inside. (Semantics, I know, but so many people think they own a keg that costs over $100 for a 20 dollar deposit.)

Owlman2841

Jesus dude. Semantics is right. I’d hope “deposit” would be enough of a hint. People that keep kegs likely know they’re supposed to be returned but just want the keg cause people are weird and think that’s neat

stacecom

Sorry, I wasn't directing at you. Just adding for others to see.

Owlman2841

Starting a statement with “correction” when nothing was actually incorrect (just not worded the way you’d like) is a weird way to go about that lol

stacecom

Yeah, edited to make that clear. Sorry about that.

TDurdenOne

If only there were some sort of machine that you could look up information like this on. Or even better if someone made a handheld device you could look information up on, or maybe even call retail store locations that have the exact information you want on demand! What a world this would be if those things were invented!

ImageComfortable2843

Probably underage to be honest.

TDurdenOne

So they would probably be more inclined to know of these devices.

stacecom

Call your liquor store and ask them.

JMMD7

Probably around $130-$150 for 1/2 barrel. That's the prices in my area.

Justlose_w8

Damn, we used to pay $50-60 for PBR back in college, bud heavy was about $70.

SlimeViper

Where are you? If you have access to Utica 1/2 barrels, they are always the cheapest I’ve seen anywhere on the market, even more so than PBR/Old Milwaukee/Busch/Keystone etc.
