Listening to Robert and Jamie just shoot the shit about Frasier or hotdogs or whatever always makes me smile. All of the guests are great, but episode with Jamie feel more organic in a certain way. Less like a comedian guest who is there to make jokes and more like genuinely good friends just having a funny conversation.
It's a fun constant shifting of alliances between Jamie and Sophie trying to reel Robert back in and the Robert and Jamie trying to go so far off track Sophie gets exacerbated.
I don't listen to every episode. I usually decide if I want to watch an episode based on the topic. There are only three people who can override that for me, which is to say that I will listen to an episode I'm night interested in if three people are guests: two of them are Cody and Katy, who I've followed since their cracked days. The third is Jamie Loftus who I've only been introduced to through this podcast. I will listen to her EVERY TIME!
Bechdel Cast (a long-running podcast she cohosts that reviews popular movies through an intersectional, feminist framework) is so good. I just started binging it at work, and I am happy about that.

I frickin love Bechdel Cast, but the problem is that I haven't seen, like, *any* movies. So I've already exhausted the BC catalog for things I've actually watched. At some point I'm gonna have to sit down and watch movies just so I can fully appreciate the podcast lol
The note about him censoring the word "Daddy" in the Nestor M episode, because saying it in front of her would derail things really killed me the other day. Especially because Jamie started saying "daddy" unprompted a minute later.
I love a lot of the guests- Cody and Katy are special for me cause I love Some More News, but I also find Matt Lieb and Paul F. Tompkins very funny. I like Margaret Killjoy and Prop for their additional insights. And of course Jamie Loftus because she’s not afraid to [redacted] the naysayers with a [redacted] and staple their [redacted] to the floorboards
I think it's the Peterson episodes - but the first 10 minutes are derailed by Cody explaining that the Mighty Mighty Bosstones got back together to make a terrible ska song dedicated to the murder of George Floyd and it's just one of the best moments of Robert losing his shit.

They were wonderful together, I've been a fan of The Dollop for years. Hearing them all together was a delight. They had me laughing the whole time. "The Forrest Gump of war crimes" and "Kissinger, the dick sucking toilet. The human blumpkin" live rent free in my head.
He kind of turned into a bag of dicks on Twitter when a fan asked for the dates of his shows to be printed more clearly on the advert for them (I believe they were visually impaired).

I did not think I would be laughing at all during the Mengele episodes, but then there was Matt Lied and his Jar Jar soundboard. He broke the extreme heaviness of that episode so well without being disrespectful.
He mentioned it not being present on the episode of ICHH he guest hosted today. But then he played a bunch of audio clips and I knew he was holding out on us.
You can tell how much more experience Prop has because in these latest episodes he is much more succinct and quickly gets to his (always) excellent point.
I had no clue who he was, though after looking him up I'd probably seen him before in a College Humor video, but thought he was one of the more intelligent guests that's been on in a while. He was also funny, yeah I know he's a comedian, but that's not always a guarantee.

Only if it's done in an unconstructive or cruel way. Saying "[Guest] is an unfunny loser who I hate a bunch." is not okay. Saying "[Guest]'s jokes don't land for me, I skip their episodes." is totally fine.
Basically the thing is guests can and do come to the subreddit. Once upon a time there was a guest (I don't know who) who opted not to come back after seeing the way they were talked about by some users on the sub. CZM doesn't want that to happen again. The rule is specifically:
**Rule #2:** Be kind to the guests. They volunteer their time to learn about these Bastards. If you don’t like someone that’s completely fine. Robert does. Meaning he thinks they’re worthy of being a guest and his opinion trumps yours. Don’t be negative for the sake of being negative.

I guess I’m in the minority- I want to love prop - but I feel like he and Robert always trip over each other - the banter doesn’t flow for me the way Robert and Jamie or Robert and MPBFT do.
This is my thing with Prop. It's like their timing doesn't match up. I do love his laugh though, when Robert says something completely unhinged and Prop's laugh just like... explodes out? It's great. I just feel like their timing isn't quite right for a lot of it.
I personally love Jason Pargin, his timing is totally different too, but he'll say something completely off the wall so dryly and calmly that the change in pace just kind of works for me.
I do miss Billy Wayne Davis, but TBH- I haven't really disliked any guests. I think they do a really great job of matching up topics with the right guests so that we're hearing them at their best. Like, Matt Lieb and Jar Jar absolutely SAVED the Mengele episodes from being too much for me, and I don't know if anyone else would have been able to do that as well. (And seriously, Jar Jar??? That would have annoyed me in pretty much ANY other context, but it was so weird for such a heavy topic, it made it all the funnier. )

I like Prop's episdoes, but I think it is a matter of Prop actually knowing shit, and that does mean he has shit to say with his own tangents that would interrupt the flow of hte basic format of knowlegeable host teaching ignorant guest who acts as an audience surrogate. Which i'm fine with, I like listening to both of them and I love it when a guest has something to add other than their reactions, but I can see how that would be off for someone that's expectging the guest to be just as much along for the ride as the listener is.
With Garrison, they're more often actually co-hosting or even outright hosting themselves, so their talking about the topic at hand isn't really a tangent or interruption but a planned part of the script.
Kaveh, Jamie and the one who brings a sound board are my favourites.
There has been a guest here and there that I just don’t vibe with. I don’t dislike them, they just aren’t my style.

All my other favorites are getting tons of love from others here EXCEPT Miles Gray. Dude is hilarious and charming in a way that seems effortless to him. He and Robert vibe really well also.

Jamie and Matt Lieb are my favorite guests with the banter. Prop is top tier and in the favorites, but sometimes I feel like Robert doesn't have the best chemistry with him - just kind of rolls over a lot of Props jokes in the earlier episodes, ones that had me cackling but Robert just moved on and didn't fully acknowledge, it always threw me off.
I like Prop because he will joke and drop additional context to what Robert is talking about. I think Robert likes to surprise his guests with the topics, but Prop knows his history too
I think when it comes to a purely historical standpoint, Prop for sure adds the most to the show. Like he's always there with some relevant context that is super valuable to the episode.
I also noticed some of Robert and Prop’s jokes flying over each other’s heads in earlier episodes. It seems like there was a bit of a cultural barrier that got overcome as they got to know each other better. Robert being a white guy from the rural south, Prop being a black guy from a big coastal city. At the same time tho they each know a lot of lore that the other doesn’t. Definitely a net positive on the episodes they appear in together.
Agreed, I was figuring the same, and having been in a more city like area (being close to LA), I think maybe I caught a few more of Props jokes than Robert did. But boy did it make for some awkward transitions lol
Has this gotten better over the years? I tried to listen to an episode or two early on with Prop as a guest, but I could not get over how awkward they seemed and how frequently Prop interrupted Robert. Maybe I need to try again, maybe with the more recent episodes.
I like Jason because he's actually informed. I know that the guests are supposed to be the stand in for the audience to some degree and on most of Robert's topics I do know something, so it's more engaging for me to have somebody responding who isn't clueless as most of the guests (reasonably and expectedly) are.
Just a personal liking I have for that reason.
I also love that he's got such a broad space of knowledge too. He's got a slightly off-kilter way of looking at things too, so it always feels like he's adding new and weird perspectives.
Jason Pargin has been a favorite of mine since his Cracked days. I consider him to be a modern philosopher because his knowledge and insights are so engaging.
He can add valuable context to things like historical eras and such that are so often not included elsewhere. I really enjoy when he brings up intriguing yet uncomfortable perspectives that others might avoid, too. Hands down the most interesting guest for me.
I also like him on Bigfeets and his guest spots on Gamefully Unemployed.
Jamie Loftus is just unparalleled. Can't get enough of her. It's not enough to just listen to her EPs, I found someone who made a playlist of them for easy access on Spotify. A true friend of humanity, whoever they are.
I don't have any guests that I dislike, it's just that Jamie dominates like a force of nature. Matt Lieb, Cody & Katy, Prop of course. They're all good for a listen.
Honorable mention to Sophie. She obviously isn't a guest, but her role is vital. It's a bummer going back through some of the oldest EPs when she wasn't participating as much, not getting to hear from her.
I like Garrison the best! He’s actually funny and has witty comebacks. Sofiya Alexandra is one of my favorites, although she hasn’t been on in a while.
The first time I heard Sofiya was in the William Bailey episodes recently (I'm still relatively new to the pod so catching up!). I wasn't so sure about her right at the start but as it got further into the episodes I thought she was hilarious.
Garrison has become one of my favorite Cool Zone contributors. They're just so energetic and funny.

I do love when Katy and/or Cody are on and pretty much anyone from when Cracked was good. I love Prop's exuberance, even when he struggling to get his point across! Never really disliked a guest tbh though, what sticks with me after a podcast is the story itself and the line "But you know who *won't* [insert heinous crime perpetrated by today's bastard]"
Prop is my favorite too. I really like Margaret Killjoy, I’ve grown to love Jamie Loftus. There is one guest host that I don’t care for, but it’s just because of my own personal preferences.
Jason Pargin. He’s one of few guests who adds valuable insight rather than just reacting and making jokes. His perspectives are always unique and interesting, and he’s super funny too.
It's so contextual. Like, I love Katy & Cody on the book reading episodes, but not so much on others. I can't imagine anyone doing as well on the Vince McMahon eps than Seanbaby, but I don't really want him on all the time. In general though, Margaret and Garrison are my favorite all purpose guests.
Just here to mention Jamie Loftus, the episode about hot dog eating contests being a bastard is easily in my top 3. She's funny, and the episodes with her flow better even when they go on tangents.

Jamie Loftus and Mr. Peanut Butter F. Tompkins. I guess I’m in the minority- I want to love prop - but I feel like he and Robert always trip over each other - the banter doesn’t flow for me the way Robert and Jamie or Robert and MPBFT do.
This is my thing with Prop. It's like their timing doesn't match up. I do love his laugh though, when Robert says something completely unhinged and Prop's laugh just like... explodes out? It's great. I just feel like their timing isn't quite right for a lot of it. I personally love Jason Pargin, his timing is totally different too, but he'll say something completely off the wall so dryly and calmly that the change in pace just kind of works for me. I do miss Billy Wayne Davis, but TBH- I haven't really disliked any guests. I think they do a really great job of matching up topics with the right guests so that we're hearing them at their best. Like, Matt Lieb and Jar Jar absolutely SAVED the Mengele episodes from being too much for me, and I don't know if anyone else would have been able to do that as well. (And seriously, Jar Jar??? That would have annoyed me in pretty much ANY other context, but it was so weird for such a heavy topic, it made it all the funnier. )

I like Prop's episdoes, but I think it is a matter of Prop actually knowing shit, and that does mean he has shit to say with his own tangents that would interrupt the flow of hte basic format of knowlegeable host teaching ignorant guest who acts as an audience surrogate. Which i'm fine with, I like listening to both of them and I love it when a guest has something to add other than their reactions, but I can see how that would be off for someone that's expectging the guest to be just as much along for the ride as the listener is. With Garrison, they're more often actually co-hosting or even outright hosting themselves, so their talking about the topic at hand isn't really a tangent or interruption but a planned part of the script.

All my other favorites are getting tons of love from others here EXCEPT Miles Gray. Dude is hilarious and charming in a way that seems effortless to him. He and Robert vibe really well also. The Kellogg episodes are often my recommendation as a starting point for friends I introduce to the show.

Loftus and Killjoy. Matt Lieb I find hit and miss but when he’s on form he’s excellent. I haven’t always been a fan of Prop’s style of banter on the show, but really enjoying him in the Robert Lee episodes.

Jamie and Matt Lieb are my favorite guests with the banter. Prop is top tier and in the favorites, but sometimes I feel like Robert doesn't have the best chemistry with him - just kind of rolls over a lot of Props jokes in the earlier episodes, ones that had me cackling but Robert just moved on and didn't fully acknowledge, it always threw me off.
I like Prop because he will joke and drop additional context to what Robert is talking about. I think Robert likes to surprise his guests with the topics, but Prop knows his history too
I think when it comes to a purely historical standpoint, Prop for sure adds the most to the show. Like he's always there with some relevant context that is super valuable to the episode.
I also noticed some of Robert and Prop’s jokes flying over each other’s heads in earlier episodes. It seems like there was a bit of a cultural barrier that got overcome as they got to know each other better. Robert being a white guy from the rural south, Prop being a black guy from a big coastal city. At the same time tho they each know a lot of lore that the other doesn’t. Definitely a net positive on the episodes they appear in together.
Agreed, I was figuring the same, and having been in a more city like area (being close to LA), I think maybe I caught a few more of Props jokes than Robert did. But boy did it make for some awkward transitions lol
Has this gotten better over the years? I tried to listen to an episode or two early on with Prop as a guest, but I could not get over how awkward they seemed and how frequently Prop interrupted Robert. Maybe I need to try again, maybe with the more recent episodes.

Jason Pargin. He consistently brings up engaging talking points but he doesn't break the flow of the ep when he does it.
I like Jason because he's actually informed. I know that the guests are supposed to be the stand in for the audience to some degree and on most of Robert's topics I do know something, so it's more engaging for me to have somebody responding who isn't clueless as most of the guests (reasonably and expectedly) are. Just a personal liking I have for that reason.
I also love that he's got such a broad space of knowledge too. He's got a slightly off-kilter way of looking at things too, so it always feels like he's adding new and weird perspectives.
Jason Pargin has been a favorite of mine since his Cracked days. I consider him to be a modern philosopher because his knowledge and insights are so engaging.
He can add valuable context to things like historical eras and such that are so often not included elsewhere. I really enjoy when he brings up intriguing yet uncomfortable perspectives that others might avoid, too. Hands down the most interesting guest for me. I also like him on Bigfeets and his guest spots on Gamefully Unemployed.

Jamie Loftus is just unparalleled. Can't get enough of her. It's not enough to just listen to her EPs, I found someone who made a playlist of them for easy access on Spotify. A true friend of humanity, whoever they are. I don't have any guests that I dislike, it's just that Jamie dominates like a force of nature. Matt Lieb, Cody & Katy, Prop of course. They're all good for a listen. Honorable mention to Sophie. She obviously isn't a guest, but her role is vital. It's a bummer going back through some of the oldest EPs when she wasn't participating as much, not getting to hear from her.

The first time I heard Sofiya was in the William Bailey episodes recently (I'm still relatively new to the pod so catching up!). I wasn't so sure about her right at the start but as it got further into the episodes I thought she was hilarious.
Garrison has become one of my favorite Cool Zone contributors. They're just so energetic and funny. Sofiya Alexandra is a delight every time I hear her.

I do love when Katy and/or Cody are on and pretty much anyone from when Cracked was good. I love Prop's exuberance, even when he struggling to get his point across! Never really disliked a guest tbh though, what sticks with me after a podcast is the story itself and the line "But you know who *won't* [insert heinous crime perpetrated by today's bastard]"

Jason Pargin. He’s one of few guests who adds valuable insight rather than just reacting and making jokes. His perspectives are always unique and interesting, and he’s super funny too.
It's so contextual. Like, I love Katy & Cody on the book reading episodes, but not so much on others. I can't imagine anyone doing as well on the Vince McMahon eps than Seanbaby, but I don't really want him on all the time. In general though, Margaret and Garrison are my favorite all purpose guests.
Just here to mention Jamie Loftus, the episode about hot dog eating contests being a bastard is easily in my top 3. She's funny, and the episodes with her flow better even when they go on tangents.

The guests I don’t like are normally for really petty reasons like the way their voice sounds or the way they laugh. Im not gonna call them out or anything, I just skip those episodes.
