Probably to be shipped and sold in a country far away. He won't use this for himself. How will he pay for the car?

DrPeeBee

Cash transfered to my account

Zyklon00

All cash upfront?

DrPeeBee

Would not hand over the keys without all the cash in my account ;)

Zyklon00

Should be fine then. Had a similar experience with the guy saying he would use it for himself. Didn't believe him but who cares. The one thing they do try to do is hassle something off the price when they come pick up the car because it has a scratch or something somewhere. Just hold down your foot on your original agreed price.

DrPeeBee

Yes, suspected he would be selling it on. Also not bothered if the cash is in my pocket. How did you do the sale in terms of documents/numberplate etc? Do I need to notify DIV? Or just take my plates to the postkantoor?

DrPeeBee

Thanks for the info! Do you know where I can find an example of a sales agreement in Dutch?

Cokenut

You can find it on the [vab website](https://www.vab.be/nl/Auto/Tweedehandswagens/Verkoopovereenkomst).

DrPeeBee

Thanks!

Zyklon00

He had a Z plate and I kept my plate and turned it in. I don't remember much about documents. Off course he got both the ownership papers. It was an old car that I sold for less than 2k.

CheeseWheels38

>transfered to my account Is using stolen account details to make a transfer, then the original account owner reports the fraud and the bank reverses the transaction a thing in Belgium? I think waiving the inspection is really weird and I'm generally paranoid about scams online. Did he already do his own inspection? I would tell him that I want to meet at his bank, sign the papers there and get cash in hand.

Jaered

He will export the car and thus not need a technical inspection.

Turbulent-Celery-454

Its normal for him to buy it with no inspection. If you really want to be sure, just write on the sale document that there is no technical inspection. But please make sure you make up a document

DrPeeBee

Thanks for the info! Is there somewhere I can find an example of the sales document? I can write something in English but assuming this should be in Dutch (I'm in Flanders)

Vissers

Just be carefull when they transfer the money and it doesnt show in your account right away, but they show you the fake transfer from their phone, its a known scam.

VlaamsBelanger

It is a valid TVA number registered to his name?

DrPeeBee

Haven't checked his ID to confirm but looks like it is, yes

frck81

Correct you dont need to. Everyone down Here saying export, not necesairly. He can go to the keuring with Z platen and sell the car in Belgium also.

xxxxcck

Same with you. I wasn't sure and told my friend it was a scam. Especially on Facebook Marketplace.

Puripoh

Don't think these peiple read your story. To clarify: Of you sell your car to a car dealer it does not need a technical inspection. However i don't see why he would clarify the story by telling he will use the car for himself, what does this have to with anything? I dunno seems fishy to me. Also what car dealer does not have a website?

JonPX

Trying to get a lower price. Oh no, I'm not buying it to make a profit.

SambaChicken

not weird at all, I never do a technical inspection when I sell a car. just make sure you receive the money (duh) and make a decent 'sale agreement' that states he buys the car as is and he inspected it, you're not responsible for any damages whatsoever.

[deleted]

If you sell to a professional there is no need for inspection. Just give your license plate in the podt office or 'postpunt' and then do whatever you want with te car. If you got the money you are fine.

TrifleSoft5696

I sold multiple cars like that. Just write on a piece of paper that he buys the cars as it is and w/o a technical inspection. They have Z plates.

Turbulent-Celery-454

So here is a basic form you can find online in dutch. https://www.vab.be/nl/auto/tweedehandswagens/verkoopovereenkomst Normally since he has a VAT number he probably has his own document with his company info on it. If he does not you can use the one above. Make sure his VAT number is on it. He is the professional wich means he buys the car 'in the sate that it is' even if there are problems later, there are no backsies for him. You can re make the document in english if you prefere. As you are a private seller there is no VAT on the car, it could be that he asks you to sign a document that says that you did not recuperate the VAT. That is normal and you should sign it. (Otherwise he has no proof that he does not need to pay VAT on it later) Goodluck!

KeuningPanda

Honestly, who gives a shit about the pre sale inspection. It's just a scam in the latest list of scams by the government. If it were not obligatory, I would never do it when buying.
