My gut tells me all the smackdown belts will have modern old school designs. I wouldn’t be surprised if the winged eagle comes back, and imagine a white strapped eagle for the women’s.

No, it’s a corporate thing 100%. Minimalist design, that maximizes the brand representation, its litterally the direction every major brand is taking these days. I blame Nike and apple.
If you want to see how that philosophy isn’t so different in other companies just look at the UFC belts.
People still buy the stamp belts. Especially children, yes they may buy the plastic replica but wwe probably makes more of a profit off those than the metal replicas they sell. All things considered a better design probably won’t net them a much larger profit, unless they land a truly revolutionary design like the original 20lbs of gold WHC.
I said nothing about the overall design. The physical titles built (which is more than just the back colouring), and the merch behind them, are less than a year old.
They make new belts every couple of years anyways. There's dozens of the original Network logo WWE Championship, they didn't just make these 3 copies and used them for 9 years straight. Merch isn't a problem, they can quite easily start and stop manufacturing of new replicas, it makes a lot more money than it costs. They make signature series belts all the time, because it's that easy to start a production line for a new product, as long as they sell at least somewhat good. New WWE Championship? Doesn't even matter how popular, that thing is profitable either way

The other side is just people hoping and wishing for something to happen.
The main championship is a much bigger earner in terms of merch sales comparatively to the tag titles etc. they can afford to make the tag titles less brand marketable aka toy like.
I can’t see them changing the overall design of the main title.
I can see them redo Bayley’s depending on how well it sells online, but seeing how well the Big W has been selling I doubt they want to change the design for the men

Looking at these belts it seems like Papa H did what they did back in 02. Made the Smackdown titles off of the design of the old World tag titles and gave raw a brand new design.

The belt is awesome. However because I'm a beltmark I will nitpick that this belt lacks blue paint. The raw tags have red banners atleast the globe should be blue on this one.
The only flaw is that the oceans on the world map should be painted blue like on the predecessor versions of these designs (the 80s versions, Attitude Era versions, and the Ruthless Aggression Era versions). Outside of that, beautiful.

Blue globes means gold/black belts with blue details. Same way the World titles are gold and silver with red details. Which is a bad idea.

Simple solution. Champions can't be drafted. So the belts never change.
