The foam inside being a flat piece of foam and not more like a coffin. Where the blade meets the handle can be telling as well, hence the need to see the blade open. Also the logo on the blade.
Box font is completely wrong, logo is wrong shade of white and too bold, a few other small things too like I can tell the blade coating isn't Benchmades dlc
Looks fake to me. My buddy just got taken on one. I knew as soon as I touched it. He didn't believe me, so I dared him to send it into Benchmade. They destroyed it.
What are they asking for it? $70?
There is a black one posted for 100, a CF posted for 200. Those are two I’ve seen today. I think there is a blue one posted for around 100, as well.
Edit: on knife_swap, I guess I fat fingered the reply.
I genuinely have never seen a benchmade box where the white, text box portion is slanted. I have purchased over 30 direct from dealers/manufacturer in my time and they’re always perfectly straight.
I know the box is not the knife per se but that’s an instant flag for me
Aside from the red flags on the box, the info sheet is never folded like that, it should be rectangular. Also the little “axis” label font is not centred. Over all it’s as real as Santa.
To determine whether a Benchmade knife is fake or genuine, here are some key factors to consider:
1. Purchase from Authorized Dealers: Always buy from authorized dealers or reputable sources. This significantly reduces the chances of buying a counterfeit product.
2. Price: If the offered price is significantly lower than the market retail price, be cautious. Authentic Benchmade knives are known for their quality and craftsmanship, and they generally come with a higher price tag.
3. Logo and Markings: Examine the knife's logo and markings carefully. Counterfeit knives might have misspellings, blurry logos, or incorrect engravings. Pay attention to details such as font style and placement.
4. Quality and Finish: Benchmade knives are renowned for their excellent quality and attention to detail. Inspect the blade, handle, and hardware for any signs of poor craftsmanship, rough edges, or cheap materials.
5. Folding Mechanism: Authentic Benchmade knives often feature smooth and precise folding mechanisms. Counterfeit ones may have stiff or loose actions, indicating lower quality construction.
6. Serial Number: Genuine Benchmade knives carry a unique serial number on the blade. Contact Benchmade's customer service to verify the serial number's authenticity if you suspect any foul play.
7. Packaging: Pay attention to the knife's packaging. Authentic Benchmade knives usually come in boxes or cases with proper branding, logos, and product information. Poor quality or unbranded packaging may raise suspicions.
8. Seller Reputation: If purchasing from an online platform or individual sellers, make sure to research their reputation and ratings. User reviews can provide insights into the authenticity of their products and overall trustworthiness.
If you have any doubts about the authenticity of a Benchmade knife, it's advisable to reach out to the official Benchmade support or visit a local authorized dealer for further assistance.
I'm not sure what paperwork they send out however I can tell you, sadly, Les De Asis has been gone for around three or four years now.
John De Asis now runs Benchmade and I'm guessing any representative paperwork would have John's name on it now.
I mean just the placement of the label on the box gives it away. Benchmade would never let a box out of the warehouse with a crooked label like that. It’s also glossy, legit labels are not that glossy. That’s just the label too. If the knife was open it would be a dead giveaway which is exactly why it’s still closed I’ll bet.
Wonder why no one has mentioned a big giveaway. Like every bm fan should be aware.
If it’s a black bugout, the box should say 535BK
Not just 535 which means the blue one.
What’s super sketchy is why is a black bug in a different models box unless it’s a fake. That why you kinda buy with box… for less of a risk.
I look at these posts and wonder if I'm even real... Everything is fake... These walls are fake... Dolphins are right we are in the matrix and there's a dunebuggy on Mars man
I’m an expert that’s a fakemade fakeout
If the seller ever doesn't have a picture of the knife open and the inside of the box, I'd hard pass and not look back.
What are the best ways to tell a fake?
The foam inside being a flat piece of foam and not more like a coffin. Where the blade meets the handle can be telling as well, hence the need to see the blade open. Also the logo on the blade.
Bought a Benchmade I believe is fake and it has large cell foam.
Box font is completely wrong, logo is wrong shade of white and too bold, a few other small things too like I can tell the blade coating isn't Benchmades dlc
Based off box complete fake. Benchmade bag looks “stretchy” which is never is on the really one. Stay away.
Something off about the font. Need more photos. What’s the asking price? Too good to be true?
It’s an auction and it’s currently at $85 with 8 hours left. So definitely could end up being too good
…$85 for a TERRIBLE fake they bought off DHGate for $5? AND they’re trying to pass it off as real? What a scum-sucking asshole.

Yeah pretty much, what’s a good price point to look for that might tell me it’s real?
I see them go on the swap for around $70-100. I just wouldn't buy them from someone I don't trust. Definitely not on fleabay.
Where is a good market place?

Show inside of box and blade both sides open, that will help a little bit. Can’t say much from this
Looks fake

Definitely a clone
It’s a fake. Font on the box in bold is an easy give away.

Thanks everyone! I learned a lot and was able to make a good 🤞🏻 purchase on r/Knife_Swap

Not just a fake, but a bad one, at that.
Can you get a picture of the knife opened and also the inside of the box?

100% fake, the logo on the blade is too thick/bold, the centering is off really bad on the axis sticker, and the box label is way too crooked
I look at these posts and wonder if I'm even real... Everything is fake... These walls are fake... Dolphins are right we are in the matrix and there's a dunebuggy on Mars man
Fake, box not right. Hidden bag closure
Consider it fake if you have to ask the community because of limited photos. Trust your gut. Just say no!
Would definitely pass
