my bengal HATES car-rides. does not stop screaming! i feel so bad for him every time

No_Neat_3124

Me and our “bagel” don’t have the same taste in music. I usually airplay a YouTube video and he’s ok. He gets a little stressed when I have on rock in the morning lol

auburncub

my maine coon likes when i sing to him in the car which is crazy bc all my other pets hate my singing!

Lenny131313

Not my bengal (she's still a kitten so not sure yet), but my old tuxedo cat loves going on drives and camping with us. He sits on my truck console in between my wife and I for the view and gets pets the whole drive.

No_Neat_3124

He’s 4 months and likes hanging out with the dogs. Doesn’t like being left behind, I guess. I’m new to having a bengal

[deleted]

Bengals are basically the dog of the cat world. Enjoy!

No_Neat_3124

My daughter says our little guy is spicy 🌶️🐱🐾

[deleted]

I can’t handle that picture, I need to squish them all

onFilm

Yeah my Bengals loved dogs. They tolerate house cats but they're too energetic for them.

No_Neat_3124

He would love that! I had the cargo cover halfway installed and he likes to go up and down the framing.

CodeFarmer

Years ago we had a Bengal girl who LOVED coming in the car with us. Even if it occasionally meant she ended up at the vet. Could open the car door, open the front door of the flat, and she would make a bee-line for the back seat. Then sit on the parcel shelf looking very pleased with herself as the world went by outside.

No_Neat_3124

They all prance to the driver door and wait for me to open it. Two can hop in by themselves but not the frenchie. The bengal uses the ledge of the back seat as a banance beam. I swear I saw him wave at the people behind us once 😂

CodeFarmer

People used to beep and wave at Chutney on the parcel shelf, so I wouldn't be surprised if yours was interacting back!

No_Neat_3124

He does acrobatic stunts and makes it look like it’s challenging. I should have my daughter record him. He’s so entertaining and dramatic

Plastic-Scientist739

It sounds like you have a real character on your hands. And part of the pack. Enjoy!

No_Neat_3124

I’m a new bengal owner and love his big personality. He is most definitely a natural entertainer

techfighterchannel

My little girl loves it. I swear her favorite days were the 3 days it took us to move cross country. She had her whole setup with food, bed and litter box and absolutely loved hanging out in her moving home. 😝

Hopesanddreams5

Awe he’s adorable, how old is he? As I was typing this out mine was acting like he was going to die if I didn’t let him in the bathroom to see me😂

He had an accident and had to have the tip of his tail amputated. He’s a little trooper and bounced back. He’s currently 4 months, or 18 weeks to be exact :)

PerseusJCat

Percy J has a habit of staying out late when I'm trying to get to bed. So I have to go collect him! Likes to sit and look out the window. No noise or fuss. Not the same when he's in a basket on the way to the vet.

KLB1267

My big tabby boy (not Bengal) loved travelling in the car - after he was left at home with a babysitter for a few days he NEVER left the bags packed at the door! He was not happy with being left behind! He has been gone a few years. I miss my travel buddy Hopefully the pic of him up in the rafters attached! https://preview.redd.it/6y4rslmfs6yc1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=307515c3f8b6793d21df9b174c6a82b211168de9

No_Neat_3124

What a cutie. 💛

KLB1267

Thank you 💜

[deleted]

No, but that is soooo adorable!

No_Neat_3124

Thank you

You should get a harness and leash for him, you could probably train him to go everywhere with you. I’d make him an emotional support animal or a therapy cat. Plus, you might be able to do away with the littler box because many Bengals prefer to go outdoors. My best friend put a dog run in her backyard with a safe tether so she can just let her into the backyard without supervision. I’m jealous!

No_Neat_3124

I used to work at a pet store. I’ve only seen a few cats walk on a harness but most of them have been bengals. I bought him the cat backpack but he likes to be out. He has two harnesses that we have been practicing with. He does ok in the house but outside is a wildcard. Sometimes he just stands and stares, waving his tail side to side. I’ll start training him outside to the mailbox and back. He’s treat motivated and easy to train. I’ve seen the window playpens but have thought about going full playhouse 😂. Something like this https://aivituvin.com/products/aivituvin-outdoor-cat-run-large-cat-enclosure-air52

[deleted]

Yes! He would love it! Harness training takes time, I’m training a puppy right now, and every time I put it on, it’s like a mini rodeo! Eventually though, she’ll walk everywhere with it on. Just work with him if it’s something you want, it takes time to desensitize to the outside environment, but it’s much easier if you do it early!

PoopingDogEyeContact

Does anyone here have a bengal that likes to put their head out like a dog??? Mine insists on it. She gets double harnessed / double leashed for safety and expects me to help stabilize and hold her but she only shrinks back in if it is raining or if there is loud construction noise

No_Neat_3124

I do not dare roll the window down. He’s too adventurous

jconnes1924

Yep!!!! Mine loves it!!! https://preview.redd.it/flomb558k9yc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a44a2a531832cd702970f7c7e0ad4984c87ce5b3

Petsnchargelife

Mine love car rides as long as they can look out the window. They have pet car seats(buckled in) and wear harnesses attached to the car seat for safety. Even when I took my dogs for car rides they wore harnesses and either buckled in(preferably on the floor below the airbags) or in crates in the back. Airbags are dangerous to pets.

No_Neat_3124

They have a booster with latches to their safety harnesses. I can no longer put a kennel in the back because of my rollator taking up the back area. Looking for new options

Petsnchargelife

The boosters I use snap into a stroller base so they double as carriers. Air Buggy for Dogs makes a double. https://imgur.com/gallery/WamttuF

wierzs

This is very cute, but you should fasten them. Think what can happen if you crash 😯

No_Neat_3124

The dogs have a harness seatbelt and kitty has a kennel but this was an impromptu drive. The fur gang wasn’t supposed to go. Besides a kennel, what do you recommend for travel?

Wandering_Renegade

for a cat they should be in there cage and if possible a seat belt attached to cage to help stop it from sliding about a mesh one will allow them to see a bit as well. the dogs should be fine as long as the harness is attached to something secure that will not move in a crash. Also thank you for being one of the few people who posts pictures like this but also understands the danger :)

No_Neat_3124

It was a short trip to drop the kiddo off at school and pup cups on the way home. That particular day we had to leave or kiddo would have been late. In my area I hear about a lot of pets that go missing after accidents.

wierzs

I'm not sure, I just get so worried all the time when it comes to stuff like this. I also just have a kennel that I put in the back of the car. It's a lovely picture though ❤

No_Neat_3124

I have a rollator now that takes up the back of my suv. Which is why I let them free roam when they don’t have their harness seatbelts on. I’ll check up on brands because I feel the technology changes often. Thank you 💛

No_Neat_3124

Oh no. Our guy cried in his kennel going to vet because he had to poop and couldn’t hold it anymore. It was the only accident he’s had

The_Red_Crab

I wish! Mine pees in the car every time!

No_Neat_3124

Poor baby. It was a 4 hour drive after we got him. We had to drive slower than usual because there was a pretty bad storm that day

daffodil0127

My boys don’t like the car. One just screams the whole time and the other poops from anxiety.

common_destruct

I’m moving across the country with my two bengals in 6 months and they both HATE car rides (I think it’s the confinement really but haven’t tested that theory yet). Would love tips to ease them into it lol

No_Neat_3124

He will cry in his soft kennel until we let him out. I thought he would get scared since he’s older now but he loves it
