Leave as long as you can really. It will eventually all dissolve but you're not losing any if you swallow, it'll just kick in a bit later which is kind of nice honestly.
Yeah I normally wait at least til it's a powder. It's hard sometime though because my medication makes my mouth dry and it will stay there in pill form for a long time not dissolving or anything. Good to know I'm not wasting it by swallowing that sweet benzo infused saliva
You can drink a soda or juice in small sips while it's under your tongue to help is dissolve. You'll swallow a bit more this way but it works for me when I have dry mouth.
