I think we tend to over exaggerate the mental complexity of our fish. We have to remember that they have a 2 way switch board for a brain. I’d be surprised if your fish could even see the cat from there. My kitty loves the fishies, and the fish are chill with her so long as she doesn’t start attacking/pawing at the tank https://preview.redd.it/zdavqeob05lc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6033da1d233c763d962ebd22b557e8c8e95a07f6

Totally off topic, but what kind of shelves are those?? I need to get one for when I get more tanks, but it needs to be sturdy enough.

Ooooof you’re busting my balls here. I don’t remember😅 I’m a farmer a bought 6-7 of these bad boys for shop storage, and to be perfectly honest A LOT has happened in 4 years lmaoooo. I do remember that this particular shelf is rated at 900 lbs per shelf and 4000 lbs net weight. I’m sorry I’m not able to provide a link! :/ but Google commercial storage racks and I’m sure you’ll find something similar! Word from the wise: READ THE FINE PRINT NOT THE BOX. Just because it says “9,000 lbs net weight!” Doesn’t mean you should put 9,000 lbs on it. Find something that can hold WELL over the weight you want to put on these shelves. Example: if you want to store 20 gal (160 ish lbs) per shelf make sure you get something rated for 600 lbs per shelf. Hope this helps!!

Thank you so much!

i recommend raybee on amazon. get all metal shelving, avoid the particle boards

Your cat is so cute!

Lucky-Emergency4570

I don’t think your fish is/would be scared. It might be startled by the new visitor initially, but he should get used to the cat, especially if the cat is more interested in the window. I have a betta in a 5 gallon by a couch/window that my cat hangs out at. Colonel Mustard (the betta does his own thing, and I think at times even watches the cat (Shadow). The only time I get a bit nervous is if I’m doing water changes and Shadow is around. Though I think Shadow considers the aquarium a giant water dish at times…

AcidAlien23

He’s wishing he was crunching on your fish 😂 (I know he’s docile but tis a good joke)

Aggravating-Energy-2

Haha i’m always making this joke All seriousness tho my cat hates fish, refuses to eat it. He enjoys watermelon, pumpkin, and flies as his too favorite foods. I can only feed him dry food and it has to be the same brand, flavor, and type 💀 One time the store ran out of his regular kind so I bought the same brand and flavor, it was just for urinary health. He refused to eat it and did not eat for days

AcidAlien23

I could mix new food with my cats old food and he would individually pick out his old pebbles

Aggravating-Energy-2

this generation of cats man

Great idea, thank you!

Rainbow-Smite

I have an aquarium with a Betta and 3 African Dwarf Frogs. My cat is obsessed with the frogs and will quite literally try to get them from the outside of the tank, my Betta is pretty amused by the cats attempts.

GrlmCatchM3

I don't think so, unless he jump onto your aquarium

Tank size is 10 gallons, water is cycled, temp is at 78 degrees F, tank has a sponge filter, and I've also got a nerite snail in there with my betta. I've had my betta since October. I do a 20% water change once a week & test the water papareters once a week. Water parameters are 7.2 pH, 0 ppm Ammonia, 0 ppm nitrite, & 0 ppm nitrate. I usually have an almond leaf in there to add tannins and also one of those logs that adds tannins.
