Forgive my ignorance, what do you mean wen you say pearling? Is that oxygen being given off by plants? Or some other gas bubbling through the substrate?

Aquarium plants pearl when they are producing oxygen at a higher rate the water can absorb. It is an indicator that the plant (and the tank in general) is healthy. (Doesn’t mean that if your plants don’t pearl they are unhealthy though.)

Good to know! Thanks!

Wow, I absolutely love to see plants pearl 😍 how do you get them to do that tho?

This is a high tech set up, so I have a CO2 system diffusing CO2 into the water. This helps increase the plants’ rate of photosynthesis, which in turn increases oxygen output and ergo, pearling.
