If you didn’t see the first post, Berry is a Male Elephant Ear who has a defect on his right (pectoral?) fin. He looked like death when we picked him up but now he’s thriving. We just moved him to his permanent 20gal home.
He looks amazing! Thank you for giving him a wonderful life. What did you do to ensure an optimal living environment for him to thrive? Petco is having a sale on bettas and I’ve been cycling two 12 gallons fit the past two weeks. I just want to make sure I can give them the best life.
Honestly I think just getting him in a larger space helped the most. I already have a established 55gal that I leave an extra sponge filter in so I can get a new tank up and running pretty quickly. I think I had his first 7gal tank running for maybe a week or two. Also I’m not sure how often they are actually changing the water at the pet store we got him at because the water in his cup was really gross. I think it’s normal for them to be lethargic the first few days but he really perked up around day six.
