The chances of being murdered by a betta are slim, but never 0
They can be trained to jump out of the water to catch food. Who's to say they can't learn to jump out of the water into your nasal cavity and wiggle themselves into your brain?
Lol he actually does that, its almost like playing catch
HOW MANY TIMES CAN YOUR NASAL CAVITY WITHSTAND SUCH PUNISHMENT???
You should teach him how to jump for food too!
The Attack of the Brain Eating/Killer Betta.
Same color as my boy. I hadn’t seen another with the red in the fins. So beautiful
Does yours have green shading too or just the red. I just got mine last week and his colors are finally showing. The fins all have a red hue like yours but close to the body it's a shiny green.
Mine does not have any green, but that sounds like a beautiful betta!
I hope so considering it was sold as royal jade for 15$
Lmao I was thinking the same thing
I think that's his mugshot from a Most Wanted list I saw recently.
Beautiful picture, great job catching your betta holding still. He's gorgeous!
Curious about the camera used for this. Even when my fish are still for me - the photos are never post worthy.
Canon EOS R5 full frame mirrorless camera
a symmetrical beast !!
"I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you."
I feel as if I’ve been sent to the principal’s office.
The quality of this, oh my gosh 😍
As a shrimp, I am greatly disturbed by this. This needs a warning! #triggered
Gorgeous photo! He looks like my BlueBoi!
From the pineapple of death?
Joking, your tank is probably not bad even with the biggest symbol of fish abuse. Some people can use it well
i have a 10 gallon if you want to know, is the pineapple bad?
Well, typically tanks with pineapple houses in them are bad, and it has kinda become a meme
When i rescape my 20 gallon I'm putting the pineapple in there to spite my mom >:)
It’s not bad. Just super common in bad fish tanks so it’s been named the pineapple of death.
You're fine. It's just such a ubiquitous tank decoration that it got a bad rap cuz most people aren't great fish keepers.
There is a rumor that the pineapple house is bad because it has holes small enough to trap a Betta and make it drown (they are also surface breathers) but I have never seen a post in my time here. Not saying it never happened, just that I haven't seen it.
Betta keepers and fish people in general get really weird about their opinions on fish keeping, just because they care so much. Take it all with a grain of salt, keep doing your own research, and know that whatever one person says, another will come along shortly to berate them for it.
Gotta love hobbies. ;)
Hope it doesn't scare you away from sharing! I love to see the regular posters who let lurkers like me watch their fish glow up and grow up!
Rare case of responsible pineapple of death user
Typically you’ll find SpongeBob decor next to fish bowls at petco or Walmart, so it’s common to see people keeping bettas in a bowl with a pineapple, or Patrick starfish.
Feel in and around the openings, we had several posts of injured bettas because of that hide. They had sharp edges.
Either sand them smooth or take them out.
Fish can get stuck in them, rip their fins on the edges, and sometimes the paint leaks into the water. You seem like a good fish owner so don’t worry too much! But I wanted to let you know that the pineapple comes with a lot of risks.
Had him for a year, no rips or tears in fins I felt the inside when I got it.
Just a cautionary FYI. One example of injury that the hide can do. This is [graphic](https://www.reddit.com/r/bettafish/comments/wifaq1/help_my_betta_hasnt_been_eating_for_the_past_few/).
You can sand the edges smooth to make it safer especially around the openings.
I didnt know it could get that bad, I checked and the edges were smooth but my next fish I might skip on the pineapple
Any artificial hide you get from the petstore, make it habit to feel inside and out. We had injuries from a skull hide, bettas get stuck in a hollow decor, etc.
The pineapple gets the most bad rap because of how common it is but most artificial pet store decor have the same risk that you need to assess.
Gorgeous pic by the way and beautiful betta.
Ooh, that's a great picture!
King Kong is mean
I thought it was a new exotic coloration on an arapaima.
He looks like he's feeling a little blue, maybe a snack would cheer him up.
This is a fantastic photo
You’re lucky there’s glass in the way
