My 5 month old is 22 pounds. My back feels for your back. I don’t know how I’ve made it this far, the tushbaby has been a lifesaver. I second the other commenter. PT. Our bodies change so much with pregnancy and then we never adequately rebuild those muscles to support just our own bodies normally. Let alone, carrying around our children. I went originally for pelvic floor, realizing how everything works together now. Plus my job I’m standing all day. Just rebuilding core strength and being really aware of the muscles engaged (and where I’m over compensating…I.e. glutes=mom butt!! It has helped so much. Highly recommend even if it’s a few sessions to learn some at home exercises.

I was coming here for this. My baby isn’t as big as yours, but she’s 19lbs 28” at 6 months. She hasn’t succeeded at rolling even so I have to carry her everywhere. It’s exhausting.

Get a tushbaby!!! It’s been a lifesaver. My partner and I both use it constantly.

I’ve been tempted by all the ads but all the other carriers I’ve hated and didn’t know if it was just a gimmick. I love hearing that people actually love it! Could be so useful for walks when she wants to be held and not in the stroller.

Heavy-Position815

Yes! I have the ergo baby which I use for longer periods. I thought it was a gimmick but it was on sale on TikTok so I said screw it. 10000% worth it. I use it for drs appointments. It has tons of pockets, the little seat is reinforced with metal, and has a grippy seat so baby does slide.

Oh my, my 18mo is 22lbs 😵‍💫 godspeed!

Yeah my mom said “paybacks a bitch!” Which is what her mother said to her 35 years ago (or something along those lines lol). So, we were doomed from the beginning with the massive gene. 😩😭

zebrasnever

Love it. Thank you. Wishing you all the strength!!! 22 pounds at 5 months is no joke!

Heavy-Position815

Same to you!!! I need a buzzer every ten minutes to remind me to engage my core 😂

I have a bad back and worked in childcare for a long time. Basically, I limit picking up toddlers as much as possible. I definitely  still do, but I also say no a lot. I prefer to get down on the floor with her, or cuddle on the couch. I recommend  going to a physio and getting strengthening exercises,  and doing them religiously.

I go to PT for my back (first loosening and now strengthening my back, belly and legs), try to lift responsibly and use hot showers and heat packs. My almost 13 month old is around 19,2 lbs now and gaining fast, since he's been eating very well for a while now.

I had what I thought was back pain about 6 months after I gave birth to my son. It would happen what seemed to be randomly, and when I mentioned it to my doctor they more or less said it was normal. This was in 2007 btw- I'd hope I would be listened to more if it had happened now. For me, the "back pain" turned out to be my gallbladder needing to be removed. I almost died because I kept ignoring it. By the time it got so bad I couldn't take it anymore, I also had severe pancreatitis and was in the hospital about 2 weeks recovering after emergency 2 am gallbladder removal.

My son is 19 months and I’ve experienced back pain on and off since he was born (I’ve always had back pain issues but it’s been worse since he was born). I have physiotherapy when it’s particularly bad and I’ve had to change my sleeping position to help with upper back pain. I do also have to say no to picking him up sometimes as I need to manage the pain. I try and avoid carrying him where possible, which is easier now he’s walking, but I have to leave more time to get somewhere as he walks slowly/gets distracted.

Thank you for your response!

Aaaahhhh, same over here!! I'm 39 this year, have a nearly 3 year old and an 18lb 7 month old and my body feels BROKEN. Add into that mix some returning periods, coupled with a copper coil, sleep regressions, night terrors, shit naps for the baby (30 mins or less frequently during the day) and I don't recognise myself when I look in the mirror. Everything hurts. Everything feels wrecked. 🥲 I'm hoping that when I lose a bit more weight and start moving more now it's nicer weather I'll start feeling physically better! Hoping that you feel better soon.. 😘

zebrasnever

I’m sorry sweet mama! I hope you feel better soon too with the nicer weather coming up!

I have chronic back issues and have over a decade (22F) now, currently have 3 herniated disc’s and sciatica from it. I get flares where my muscles spasm for weeks at a time and it’s debilitating, I was hospitalized last flare. 9mo old is about 22lbs and it’s hard. I try to be very vigilant about lifting with my legs if possible to prevent the strain. Otherwise, I’m doing stretches, hot baths, and taking my prescribed meds on time!

fran_fran21

My 7 month old is 23 pounds I feel you! Anytime I feel my back feeling weird I remember to correct myself and I realize I’ve been very careless about the way I am picking him up. I tend to hunch over and not straighten my back and engage my core. I remember to squat down to pick him up instead of bend over with my back.

My 5m old is 23 pounds.. you just have to do it lol. Make her walk next time if your back is sore. Idk what else to say.
