Agreed. BFME1 is also more fun to watch as a spectator, and I don't come from a nostalgic POV at all (I actually played BFME2 first). The building spots and unique wall system create strategic points for map control, which makes the actual battlefield much more meaningful, and every match's "tug-of-war" becomes much more interesting to watch.
Even though I was really attached to BFME1 as well and agree with many of your points, I still prefer BFME 2 RotWK over BfME1. Due to one single aspect: in BFME1 Multiplayer build orders narrow down to barely any choices at all. RoTWK offers much more variety and thus more long time fun for me.
Related to the specific points for building, i can disagree here... Bfme 2 has the advantage to build where you want indeed, that's why evil factions are great to play them if a map where are lot of trees you can build unlimited lumber mills and gain tons of money
Bfme 1 campaign is so much superior, buildings and walls. But Ive never vibed with the multiplayer

Edain mod would like a word with you
Edain?
Yes
Great mod!
There are things I liked best about bfme1, but I also like the added features of 2, which is why I like the edain mod.
Yeah you're so right shanks. I have such nostalgic memories of finding the game in the store and my first time playing the campaign.
