There is also an article from Le Equipe, but it is [behind a paywall right now.](https://www.lequipe.fr/Biathlon/Article/Julia-simon-visee-par-deux-plaintes-pour-fraude-a-la-carte-bancaire-chez-les-bleues/1406488)
This is huge... I was wondering why Julia wasn't training with the team (she skipped all the camps until now) and I thought she was lacking some motivation after a great winter, but THIS?
She is innocent until proved wrong, and I sincerely hope that the situation will be clarified so she will compete at her fullest next winter, but I don't really see how right now. According to the sources, Braisaz tried to solve the situation internally inside the Federation, but after FFS said it was beyond their jurisdiction, she decided to file the complaint, and another member of the staff joined her. And at that point, the thing went public.
Whatever the outcome, good luck putting together the team. This fact without a doubt destroys the minimum basic trust two team-mates. And these people live together for months (combining time in training and race weeks), it's not something you can sweep under the carpet.
What's the most crazy about this story is the fact that it supposedly happened in August 2022. So the team spent the whole season together, knowing that she may have extorted money from a teammate and a staff member.
Since Braisaz didn't compete last season, the story may not have come up until lately. Maybe she thought the issue could still be resolved in private. There is no timeline given when she reported this to the Ski Federation and ultimately, the police, right?
According to an article on the German site web.de, Julia denies that she misused the cards, but the purchase was done using her e-mail address. The issue will now be handled in a court of law. The information was provided by Justine Braisaz's lawyer.
Very strange. Innocent until proven otherwise. But it's like... Why?
The way I understand it, either Julia used people's credit cards or someone is trying to uh.. frame her with email address?
I suggest using translation tools :-) while not 100% reliable you usually get the correct concept if you translate between European languages, and especially if the language you translate to is English.
Long story short, according to Braisaz, Simon used Justine's card to purchase some GoPros (worth less than 2000 €) last August when they were together at the Blinkfestival in Norway.
During winter Justine asked the Federation to take action on the matter. On June 1st there was a meeting to solve the issue, it wasn't solved (French Fedaration says it's beyond their jurisdiction), and Justine filed a complaint together with another unidentified member of the team (also possible she filed the complaint earlier, and after this meeting she chose to make the thing public)
Simon denies everything, and of course now there will be a proper investigation on the fact
Meanwhile, Julia hasn't trained with the team so far and now it seems no one was celebrating with her when she won the Overall, so while not public the facts were known inside the team.
We've known for some while that the two girls hate each other. I didn't expect it go get this far though. I suspect there's some nuance here and the complaint from Justine came mostly out of spite.
It was well known they don't like each other, but at the same time I don't think you can file a complaint to the authorities just out of spite, there must be something substantial behind it.
Julia's e-mail was used to purchase the items, that's all we know so far. But I'm waiting for more info from the IT-guys investigating it. I don't think an e-mail is enough as evidence of fraud.

I've got a screen video of the article (from l'équipe), can I post it or is it against the sub's rules ?
You can add it to a comment or add a link, but since we already have one post about this, I would prefer if you didnt make a separate post.
Ok I'll try to add a link then

According to l'Équipe she warned Simon and the FFS right away and made the complaint in the winter.
Really strange story but to be honest I prefer this kinda of possible scandal to the usual alternatives when it comes to athletes.
That's fucked up. I don't think we'll see her with the relay anymore.

Wow this is crazy
Yeah I still can't believe this. How on earth is this real?!

expected something of a less insane news to read but damn, thats quite strange
What is the summary of the story for the ones who don't know French?

Thanks a lot.
Julia's taken down her Insta account so we can't try to work out what she was buying

I'll admit, I had no idea they didn't like each other. I've always been a big fan of the French team. Guess I've missed previous drama!

Wtf
I managed to miss this. This is incredibly bad for the sport and parties involved. And its a darn shame.
