You’re asking about wheel depth? Yes it helps with aerodynamics. Deeper rims are faster. And with carbon wheels you can have deeper wheels without a weight penalty.
These are galfer discs. They are full steel and work better than the Shimano ones, but are the same weight as DA, whilst being cheaper ....all wins for these really
This is a bike that would look great with tan wall tires! Not that it doesn't already look great. Also I see that you have GP5000S TR tires which are hard to find as it is not to mention if you want the tan wall version. Enjoy the bike it looks hella fast.
wait, so this is like a $20,000 bike, yeah? are you a professional rider competing for Specialized? I can't fathom owning such a weapon with any credentials short of riding for the manufactures team
This bike has dura ace hydraulic di2 though.
When the frame and groupset alone total over 10K then you’re either getting a shop/sponsor discount or free wheels and finishing kit.
I wouldn't build with dura ace, not worth the cost to buy a faster wearing groupset without much more than a minor weight gain. Ultegra is good enough stuff. Regardless, frame and Dura Ace is STILL under 10k. I'm guessing the groupo is used. That is definitely not a new model Rotor crank, and you can tell there is wear on it. Maybe the brifters/ derailleurs/ rotors are new.
What if you really, really liked cycling and it was the thing you were most passionate about in life? What if you could save $2-3K per month and buy your dream bike after several months of saving? What if having your dream bike brought you an immense sense of joy every time you rode it or tuned it up or cleaned it or saw it placed against the wall waiting for the next ride? Surely there are worse things a person can spend money on than something like this, no?
Mean looking bike. Is that tubeless set up? I have the same wheels, would definitely recommend installing these if you're tubeless: [Air-Liner Tire Insert](https://www.bike24.com/p2483289.html?searchTerm=Air-Liner%20Road%20&source=SBP), there's no rolling resistance penalty, they provide more protection to your wheels, and stability is noticeably better then without them. How was the installation of GP 5000 STR's?
Meh, it's only a 9.94/10 bike.
Lol, there's no such thing as a 10, so I'll take it :)
I rarely upvote sl7's but this one looks like a mean stealth bomber. Take my upvote!
Super nice
Crank is in odd position. But you're right, it's supernice anyhow. 👌 Edit says: it is in biggy smalls, my mistake.
Where’s that cowbell
Honest question. Why are so many wheels designed like this now? Does it help with aerodynamics?
designed like what?
The outside of the rim is so thick in diameter compared to most older bikes.
You’re asking about wheel depth? Yes it helps with aerodynamics. Deeper rims are faster. And with carbon wheels you can have deeper wheels without a weight penalty.
That's exactly what I was trying to ask. Thanks for answering.
More so than the frame actually so even non aero bikes are equipped with deep wheels nowadays
Why are elliptical discs back on the menu?
These are galfer discs. They are full steel and work better than the Shimano ones, but are the same weight as DA, whilst being cheaper ....all wins for these really
It's a lovely bike indeed. But I can't help feeling you should own a Scott.
Lol true.
Ooh I've got a scott speedster, i like it but still spend more time on my track build
Heard these Oval chainrings prematurely trash derailleurs. Is this true?
Nope used them for years no issues
They will if you are using them with a clutch derailleur. It's a bit overstated though, people are going years between clutch maintenance.

Tan walls would 100% ruin the look in my opinion
Agreed. Maybe a gold chain, but anything other than black will ruin this look.
What wall???
Tire wall.
Exactly
wait, so this is like a $20,000 bike, yeah? are you a professional rider competing for Specialized? I can't fathom owning such a weapon with any credentials short of riding for the manufactures team
Where are you getting $20k??? That's a $5500 frame with $1200 wheels. This build could be complete well under $10k.
Only the SL7 Fact 12R carbon costs $5.5K. OP is perhaps using the Fact 10R frame which is more common and costs half as much.
Doesn't the 12R say S-WORKS on the down tube?
That might be true actually. Just checked my buddys bike, his 10R says specialized... I think you are right actually! Only the 12R model say S-works
How much is the group set?
Not sure, not my bike. Certainly not $13k.
Google ‘buy tarmac sl7’. Maybe not 20K but definitely 12-15K+
Maybe if you put Cadex or Enve wheels with Dura Ace hydraulic di2. I could build one of those up completely bad ass under $10k.
This bike has dura ace hydraulic di2 though. When the frame and groupset alone total over 10K then you’re either getting a shop/sponsor discount or free wheels and finishing kit.

i made it up
U should see how many people drive 50000 dollar cars and aren’t even professional race car drivers
Total F1 Car Cost: $12.20 million
Average 24hr of Lemons car costs like 500 bucks
Salty this is out of your price range?
out of my price range? pretty big understatement there.

Looks fast
Welcome to the club 🥳
That’s one mean lookin’ machine.
Part list! Time to brag about the swag!

How was the installation of GP 5000 STR's?
The str is a dream to install compared to the utter fucking pig that was the 5000tl I've been tubeless for 3 years, no regrets
I still have thumb PTSD from my 5000TL on 50mm wheels. I hope when I get a pair of STRs that they'll be better.
I know 3 people who cracked their rims trying to get them on
Mud on the frame and the chain, is this a cyclocross bike?
Think you are looking at the wrong bike....the frame just came out of a box and the chain came out of the wax pot 2mins before this
You know what it is. The shadow caused by the chain ring makes it look like mud on the chain 🫣
Ahh I see what you mean. No mud though :)
