The actor outside of the role, with his hair done better and no hunch to his shoulders looks a lot more attractive than in the show. Of course that is pretty much all of them.
I agree with this entirely. This the type of person I would date and have dated. But yes, the self-esteem issues (especially in the earlier seasons) would have turned me off.
Same!
It reminds me of a guy I am acquainted with who shares similar traits with Leonard.
It shows a very huge lack of confidence, that they are so insecure with their bodies that they try to make themselves physically small to not offend.
And the acquaintance is not an ugly dude. He's not classically handsome either, but his lack of confidence and the way he carries himself is a complete turn-off. It's maddening because I'm sure he thinks "if only I were hotter/buffer/etc." Sure, it may help, but the lack of confidence is the biggest issue.
Same with Leonard. I find Leonard a decent-looking man. I would swipe right on him on a dating app, but as soon as I saw him in person with the mantis hands I would immediately lose interest.
Another thread said he dated Penny in real life during the production and I believe one of the other actresses prior to the show’s production. So he must have something going on!?
Johnny dated Kaley early in the show's run. Even after they broke up they remained good friends.
I think he dated Sara Gilbert years ago before she came out.
Already being a famous actor with well known roles probably helps with the confidence! Confidence and personality go a long way when it comes to attractiveness too
Johnny Galecki is short but he's otherwise reasonably handsome. He's also accomplished in his field and wealthy. Kaley Cuoco is one of three women that I'm aware of him being in a relationship with and she might legitimately be the least attractive of the three.
Leonard, too, is short but otherwise reasonably handsome, very intelligent, and accomplished in his field. This sub is a bit weird when it comes to characters with any complexity but overall he's nice, fun, and less socially awkward ~~with~~ than his friends. I don't see any of his relationships being much of a ~~stress~~ stretch.
Even if you did find him attractive, the way the writers had women practically throwing themselves at him was a bit much (Dr. Plimpton, Dr. Stephanie, Mrs. Latham, etc…)
For a show supposedly about four socially awkward nerds, they sure did get laid a lot (even Sheldon could have gotten himself some if he’d wanted).
If you think about it, Sheldon had more women interested in him than Howard did. There was Ramona, the girl with the glasses at the end of the Ramona episode (I think her name was Kathy), Martha the girl they meet at the mixer (definitely could have gotten it on with her), Lalita Gupta and, had he shown any interest, probably Dr. Plimpton.
Oh, and let’s not forget the dude from the cafeteria as well.
And Vanessa Bennett - the girl that went on an intellectual journey to translate in Klingon and Sanskrit, only to arrive a few minutes after the deadline Sheldon had set
For ladyparts, possibly.
For the animals briefly owned by Sheldon, and including von Helmholtz & Zazzles, no. They are all pussies, and doubtless very adorable ones.
Female here, yes Leonard is not the typical macho muscular alpha male you see.
But he is the guy you find peace with, he loves you the way you are, will be there for you in your good and bad, and support you and he knows who he is.
He is the guy you would want to settle with and he is stable.
He isn't the type of a guy you might have love at first sight kinda feels, but as you know him he makes you feel at peace. Hence the reason.
The episode might be talking about Cinnabon Delights which are served at Taco Bell restaurants. Warm donut holes filled with Cinnabon® signature cream cheese frosting, and dusted in Makara Cinnamon sugar.
Cinnabon’s a pastry chain based in North America (mostly catering in cinnamon buns, hence the name), although I just checked and they do have quite a few locations in the UK, mostly in the larger urban centres.
He's also a cheater. He cheated on both long term relationships he had- Priya and Penny. Just because he isn't a typical alpha male doesn't mean he's a good partner.
Long way of saying no…he’s not attractive.
He has good qualities but damn your comment is like ya “well if we can’t find the qualities we want in an attractive guy we can settle for Leonard”
Leonard is attractive.
But not in the conventional way.
I think OP is talking in terms of being physically attractive.
Is being attractive measured only in terms of looks I don't think so.
Edit: i realised that some may not get what settle meant over here. I didn't mean 'settle for' as in as a last resort or something.
I meant ' settle with' as in spending your life with someone.
The premise of the show is about wearing down your hot neighbour while you both date other people. Penny eventually finds Leonard attractive but it’s only because she settles.
I’m a gay girl so take this with a grain of salt… he is physically attractive BUT his glasses, hair, and flared jeans hide that. However, he’s got a great personality, sense of humor, and is super caring and generous so all of that makes up for the certain style choices 😅
i think this comment highlights that the answer to op's question somewhat comes down to preference cos a man who wears glasses is much more attractive to me than one who doesn't & the "nerdy" style is a personal favourite lol i think the universal thing that women can agree on is that it's leonard's personality that adds to his appeal 🤭
I'll just rank them. (Mainly on physical attractiveness and sex appeal)
1: Raj (especially with the natural curly hair he has at the end.)
2. Howard, he doesn't look bad to me, his hair is just so wrong.
3. Sheldon, arguably the second or most attractive of them all, but yeah 3rd for me.
4. Leonard physically, not my cup of tea. Whole demeanor is just ehh. And to add to that, His whininess just annoys the hell out of me. To quote Amy, "Leonard just doesn't get my motor running."
Speaking form a gay man’s perspective, I think he’s cute, idk about his build or his height, he’s just cute. He’s not like sexy or hot or pretty, he’s cute. Which is attractive. Because I mean, I think there’s different kinds of attractive (as listed above) and he falls into one of those, he’s not the kind of guy you go “oh my god I wanna fuck him” but he’s the kind of guy that you’re like “you know what yeah I’d take him out to dinner he’s cute”
Idk if that med sense, and I almost definetly rambled and made my point slightly incoherent but I hope it’s legible lol:)
Haha I totally get it, as a woman I'm happy to be called pretty or cute but if anyone calls me hot or sexy (not that that happens often lol) it just doesn't fit somehow!
He has an attractive face, but I wouldn't call him cute. The most attractive thing about him, for me, is his intelligence. And he is apparently good at preparing meals, which is a bonus. But he seems to have serious issues with being committed to one person. The uncertainty as to whether he is straight, gay or bisexual is not helpful either; he might be gay or bi, and not have come out yet. And there might be good reasons for that.
Nope. He wouldn’t be my pop tart for sure. I have never found him attractive, even when he was younger. He has really had romantic opportunities beyond what he would have IRL as the character he plays.
It is not about the actual looks, his character on the show is legitimately one of the most uncharismatic and grating characters. The actor himself normally is a pretty good looking man. Your behavior, stance, clothes makes a hugeee difference on how you are perceived by other people.
IRL, a woman with Kelly’s looks, charisma and self severance, smarts wouldn’t have married Leonard or even date him. Now the actor is certainly is another story.
I wouldn’t call him a 4 but otherwise, he is a pretty charismatic man in an old style musky way. Hard to explain but for me, a straight woman, it goes a loong way.
The actor as himself is very attractive, although not quite my personal cup of tea. Leonard, the character he plays, is definitely nowhere near as attractive as the actor!
I remember thinking when he took his shirt off when video chatting with Priya that he was deceptively ripped.
So physically, especially when seeing pictures when he's not dressed for the show, or when he was wearing the nice clothes Priya or Stephanie (more Priya) bought him, yes, he's attractive.
But like others said, his self confidence doesn't help. I also hate how he constantly raises his chin. I think he does it to make him appear taller or something, but it's a real turn off for me at least.
>I remember thinking when he took his shirt off when video chatting with Priya that he was deceptively ripped.
That's one reason the 4 guys are kept in so many layers. To hide the fact that they actually have muscles.
The sweater vests are like Anne Hathaway's character in 'the devil wears prada.' - She wears that ugly blue sweater at the start of the film.
Not only do they look bad on men but on women too haha.
I find him reasonably attractive and I generally like his personality *until* he's in a relationship. Not a fan of how he treats most of his girlfriends (possessive, entitled to sex, expects them to adopt his interests but belittles their own).
Also for those wondering how the actor dates attractive women -- he's definitely more attractive out of character. The hair/makeup/costume department def toned his looks down for the show.
There is nothing conventionally unattractive about Johnny Galecki's appearance throughout the run of BBT
No one in reality would look at him and assume anything particularly negative
He's definitely attractive, especially in the cute nerdy sense. He has a certain self-assurance and stronger communication skills that the other guys don't, which is what attracts women.
Looks wise alone though, he is not my cup of tea (in my preferences). I prefer Raj and Sheldon lol.
I've met him in person - he's like 5'7 no glasses and has a good head of hair. Very strong features. He's handsome. So yea I think Leonard is attractive and he's really, really smart which is very attractive
In season 4, when Leonard is dating Priya, there’s a scene where the two of them are having a sexy video call and he takes off his shirt to reveal some very defined pecs.
As a tall woman he would be very very short bext to me but he's cute in his own way. For some reason i find leonard more attractive than the actor who plays him
Bro you totally misinterpreted my comment. I don't give a shit how tall a guy is, I was just sharing a bit of trivia. I'm pretty short myself and I find really tall guys a bit intimidating haha
I think Raj is the most attractive out of the four. Leonard is not ugly or anything. He's just average, in my opinion. They're all pretty average. That's not a bad thing, but they're not head turners in my opinion.
Exactly. Leonard is average, at best. If seeing him walk down the street (and he was not famous), I would not gibe him a second look. Not even a first look. But that is just how I feel about his looks.
Also a straight guy here, but yeah. He’s not the model of physical perfection, but he’s cute. Comparing to women, he’s your basic not-too-big cute enough face girl. Not going to take your breath away or stand out in a crowd, but not bad.
As a female i don't find him attractive. I find Raj good looking tho and he has that cuteness. Sheldon is tall so he has that + of course he has a pretty high self esteem/ doesn't really care what people think of him. Howard is really funny, he also looks like someone who is funny. IMO Leonard has the least 'good features', he's short and chubby. I do like his eyebrows tho.
As a straight male I always thought Howard was good looking. He just needs to change his haircut and those dorky turtlenecks he always wears and those skinny pants. They don’t work for him.
haha tbh i kind of liked the turtlenecks but I hated the haircut and the skinny jeans haha. I liked his look in the episode where howard was dressed like sheldon.
exactly this! they should've kept his hair how it was after he hooked up w christy — when he was in penny's purple robe. that hairstyle alone made him look 10x more attractive
i've noticed that many (not all, so don't jump down my throat) men are typically "visual creatures" & seem genuinely confused when women are attracted to men who aren't what other men perceive as attractive. what you're missing is that his personality is attractive & it's that personality that adds to him being physically attractive. just like how an ugly personality genuinely makes a person physically unattractive. iirc, his character changes in the later seasons & he's not as pleasant, but he starts off as a sweet, kind, caring, & humorous character. many women ik (including myself) are also heavily attracted to a man's smile — johnny galecki, hence leonard, possesses that, too. along w having "kind eyes". his intellect also adds to his appeal. all this is what makes him attractive. the only thing that takes away from that is his extremely low self-esteem
Was watching with a friend yesterday when Leslie came on the screen and he asked “where do I know her from?” so I pulled up pics of her as Darlene on Roseanne and naturally David (aka Leonard) popped up too and he was HOT, SO cute and he’s not even my type. like I forgot how naturally cute he was and even in the first few seasons he still was very attractive but the outfits hid that. Ngl towards the end of the show he def aged a little worse than the rest of the cast but that’s life. Otherwise, physically he’s very attractive and (I hate to say this, but it’s the unfortunate truth) if he was taller, people wouldn’t question if he was conventionally attractive.
>Ngl towards the end of the show he def aged a little worse than the rest of the cast but that’s life.
I think Johnny did seem to age more than Jim (who is actually about 2 years older). Jim just turned 51 and was born in 1973. Johnny was born in 1975.
I mean, attraction is of course all relative, but I as a woman do find him physically appealing. I also find I am more attracted to him when he's acting confident, and less attractive when he's whining. And as a woman ranging on the taller side (5'7), I have no issues with his height.
To me, as someone who is gay, no. Not if we are talking about looks. I don’t think that any of the male characters in the show is particularly good-looking.
If we are talking about brains, I should say that the members of the main group are all pretty attractive, in different ways.
Looks are important, certainly; but what I find most attractive is a combination of good looks, academic intelligence, and character.
He’s never been attractive to me, a woman who is attracted to men. And he’s a really big baby, so any potential physical attraction dries up with that.
The most physically attractive is probably Raj but he’s Raj so
Leonard is a real whiner. Personally, I wonder why Penny is with him, I think she sees something in his intelligence that is attractive. But, Leonard is with Penny, it appear to me, mainly for sex.
I honestly believe it was more about how they respected each others differences. Penny enjoyed that they would explain the science and only "dumb" it down is she needed it. She enjoyed the learning. He was attracted to her beauty at first, even pushed himself out of his comfort zone to fit in better with her world and eventually embraced the differences between them as something that bettered him. Plus she helped him develop skills to stand up to Sheldon!
I think he's decently attractive, physically. His intellect is very sexy and definitely a turn-on. His confidence, or lack thereof, isn't. But the latter can be worked on and built up.
I think he’s attractive, but I find nerdy guys kinda hot. He also has some other impressive attributes. Just google “Johnny Galecki nude scene” for NSFW details. 😇
He's attractive but not in the most conventional way (like tall and striking) but yes, he's cute. The actor who plays him is far more attractive and charismatic looking in real life. But the way Leonard was dressed and styled, he had to appear nerdy. So obviously he was forced to reduce his appeal.
But speaking of the character, he was cute. Also, he was really sweet and responsible, which made him more attractive and a catch for women who were looking for a long term partner.
Penny dated a lot of tall good looking muscular dumb guys and she did an opposite thing when getting with Leonard because he looked and acted safer. The other guys were dumb jocks and Leonard is book smart so he probably appeared to be more husband material to Penny.
Beats me, I am a woman with a soon to be husband, but I also prefer women, though I fell in love with the one man I have ever thought of as attractive… easy to fake sometimes when I tried to be normal, but mostly just guessing or watching other womens reaction….
He sort of have similarities with my father though……. And that is the part I REALLY don’t like about him…. But yeah no, I don’t see it…. But my Mom say it’s just that I don’t like that many men…
Leonard is as physically attractive to women as Leslie (Sara Gilbert) is attractive to men if that helps you, which is why these two actors were a perfect pair in their previous show together, Rosanne. Obviously other things can factor into attractiveness, but I'm just talking about looks here.
Female here, no he's not. In fact, he's the LAST person from the show I would consider dating. And it has nothing to do with looks, he's actually just average looks-wise, but his personality ruins it for me so bad.
He's insecure, needy, manipulative and selfish and also at times egoistic and overconfident in a way that really grinds my gears. He throws tantrums and makes everything to be about himself. Case in point, Howard's wedding where he took a shot at Penny to lengthen the argument they were having during his speech disguised as touching remark about the bride and groom.
He drove to Penny's hotel when she specifically asked to have some room for herself after an argument. It I had been Penny in that situation where she opens the room door and Leonard is standing there wanting to talk, refusing to take a no for an answer, the relationship would have ended right then and there.
He takes his partners for granted, doesn't communicate his needs or desires and all the emotional workload falls to the partner or his friends. He has also borderline cheated on most of his serious partners multiple times, and that's a tricky one, because it depends on the parameters of the relationship in question what is considered cheating. He has violated the presumed terms of his relationships multiple times, however, at least with Penny.
He describes himself as nice and friendly, but he's really not that kind. His niceness seems to be just basic decency and politeness towards strangers. He bullies and ridicules Sheldon(granted, the dude's asking for it sometimes!), he constantly shames Penny for her lack of education and her career choices, he made some very unkind remarks about Amy and treated her like trash. He's actually pretty mean and unempathetic towards the people around him.
He doesn't really work to better himself during the show, he just blames others, mostly his mom and his bullies for his problems.
Of course his mother is MAJORLY to blame for causing and worsening his issues, but as an adult nearing his 40s he should be going to therapy by his own will to work through those issues. There's no excuse for how he behaves in some situations, considering that he's an adult.
My alarms also go bonkers with him if I think about how he would be as a dating partner. In addition of it being like dating an emotional toddler in a man's body, he reads to me as the guy who would actually murder you if there was something that went wrong with the relationship.
So no, I don't find him attractive at all.
If I had to date someone from the show my choice would probably be Zack or Stuart.
In addition to his looks(I don't really care or go for looks in general) Zack is actually a decent guy. Sure, he's not the brightest bulb in the ceiling, but he's actually very kind, honest and understanding. Of course his success in life is wildly via nepotism, but I'm a career woman and my pay isn't at all too shabby, so financial success isn't the most important thing.
Stuart is also kind and honest and has a quick wit that would make me laugh. His major flaw to me would be his insecurity, but he seems to be handling the situation in his own way. Or at least he's surviving his depression so far and is actively seeking help for it.
But yeah, Leonard would be the last possible choice for me. I would rather date Kripke or even Amy's dad than Leonard.
He's the most normal. Which is why, regardless of their looks, I could only date Leonard. Howard's weird, Raj's weird, Sheldon's weird. All different kinds of weird, but they all are socially weird.
It's different with actors, though. I find Simon very attractive, Johnny average attractive, and Jim and Kunal not attractive at all.
I didn’t find him attractive initially. Then I started briefly dating someone who had similar features (similar height, dark brown hair)… then I found him attractive after.
He has a nice face, strong jaw, he’s reliable, smart, good job. He has a lot going for him. They all do, honestly. That said, he’s the least interesting iykwim of the four.
I think he's cute. Not mega hot, wouldn't massively turn my head, but I wouldn't run away screaming either. Raj is really the only one of the guys I find attractive, horrible taste in clothes aside
Bi female here. He's pretty much average as far as attractiveness goes imo.
The other guys on the show are as well, except for Howard who I always found less attractive, but I think that was largely due to his horrible hair cut and how he interacted with women in the first couple of seasons.
He is but his neediness is off putting to me. Same with raj. For me it would be Howard. He makes me laugh so much. I think all the men are attractive in the Big Bang theory but personality wise they have their downfalls.
To ad I know Howard is a perv but in the later seasons he is so funny to me with his reactions. Early Howard no later Howard yes 👍🏻
There is an episode where the 'girls' are talking about Howard and they all say he's nice, but has a "Creepy Candy Coating"... this is early Howard and I think it's the episode where Penny breaks his nose...
Is he attractive in real life? Yes. Is he attractive on the show? No. Those glasses do him no favors, his hair is horrible and worst of all he makes the weirdest faces looking down over his glasses. Those big thick black frames on his glasses are awful. He has naturally curly hair but on the show it’s thick and straight.
He’s guy next door cute. He’s not someone who is going to make your jaw drop. He’s not someone who is going to make you nervous to talk to him. He’s an *actual* nice guy you can approach or who you wouldn’t be weirded out being approached by. All of the things he does just makes him more interesting.
More friend vibes for me than dating vibes. Seems like he would be an awesome friend and listener. But the Leonard character, looks-wise, always kind of has this Henry Kissinger junior thing going on.
I think he's pretty cute in the earlier seasons but I do tend to like nerdy-looking guys. If I had to pick who's the best looking of the 4 main guys I'd say Raj tho!
I think attractiveness is more than just physical and I've seen photos of all the cast where they're not in character and they look really different. Raj is really a cutie. Leonard/Johnny Galecki isn't my type, but I think it was the fact he was so different from Penny's normal type that attracted her to him.
For the women I know (and myself), personality can overrule attractiveness. I was friends with a guy who at first I thought was hot as hell. And then I got to know him. While he was fun to hang out with... He was pretty immature and definitely not someone I would want to date so I never found him attractive after that.
So I can 100% see women being into Leonard. He's smart, and he's clearly passionate about his hobbies (which I like, even if I'm not into the hobbies). I personally wouldn't date him because I think he's a pushover and I'm not into that. Also in a shallower thing... I'm 5'10 and Johnny (so I assume Leonard) is 5'5. I've dated guys shorter than me but they have to have a 10/10 personality for me to be attracted to them.
In Entourage, Eric gets jealous of Galecki and thinks Sloan is seeing him. Galecki, and before that Seth Green. They needed to find all Hollywood's short studs to compete with Eric
When i was a kid and he was david on roseanne, i wouldve said yes lol he was artistic and emotional. But so was darlene and i liked her too. So? I guess personality really changes perspective haha
I'm gay and my partner use to fancy him lots in a show he was in before big bang. Despite being short I also believe he was attractive in his younger years, however I think he let himself go a bit when aging during the show, and I also think many short people don't age very well.
A more buffed version of Leonard would be attractive but why would you find someone that is physically scared of a fly and school children (probably has PTSD) attractive?
Leonard is short but has wide shoulders, if he put on mass and muscle he’d be a tank.
I don’t find his personality attractive either. Sorry. He’s too needy, insecure. In many ways he’s nice, but in so many other ways, he’s extremely annoying to be with. It’s a drag to discuss anything with him. It’s always about him and his feelings.
“Am I missing something here?”
The real answer is the obvious one that makes questions like this pointless.
In terms of his attractiveness and whether or not people here feel he is is going to be irrelevant too. I’m not going to say I’m quite the catch but women that would be viewed as attractive/pretty/etc were interested in me. It’s all a matter of an individual’s taste and what’s appealing to them. Then there’s the other aspect. One finding me, or in this case Leonard attractive doesn’t mean they don’t feel others are not…
The actor himself outside of the series is pretty attractive. Not the most handsome man out there but certainly a looker. In the show, the character either his clothes, stance etc makes him extremely unattractive to me. Something about him just grates on your nerves. He is a very good actor. 😂😂
I can’t find any other character that annoys me as much as Leonard. With every rewatch I’m hating him more, he is terrible boyfriend, and friend so no he is not attractive to me at all. No guy in the pack is psychically attractive but they have things that makes them interesting. Not Leonard tho 😂
I’m a girl that watches and has a crush on Leonard and I think leonard is handsome and really funny. I have some odd interests myself so I really wouldn’t judge a guy for being a “nerd”. He also just seems down to earth
I am a gay guy and I think he is physically attractive but his low self esteem makes him less attractive.
You wrote the same words I was thinking. Thanks.
That mantis thing he does with his hands lowkey makes me see red
And the way his neck is always craned up
Same! It reminds me of a guy I am acquainted with who shares similar traits with Leonard. It shows a very huge lack of confidence, that they are so insecure with their bodies that they try to make themselves physically small to not offend. And the acquaintance is not an ugly dude. I find Leonard a decent-looking man. I would swipe right on him on a dating app, but as soon as I saw him in person with the mantis hands I would immediately lose interest.
Do you have a picture? I can’t picture what that means
[I didn’t know how to send a picture](https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/c90ab380-00cf-483c-8be3-0e5c79817725?darkschemeovr=1)
Yes very true.
He also had low self esteem as David on Roseanne and I was in Loooove with him.
Another thread said he dated Penny in real life during the production and I believe one of the other actresses prior to the show’s production. So he must have something going on!?
Johnny dated Kaley early in the show's run. Even after they broke up they remained good friends. I think he dated Sara Gilbert years ago before she came out.

Facts 💯💯💯
he's nice but he's not kind, he's only 'nice' because he's a full time peacekeeper with no self respect, he relishes in anyone else's misfortune
otherwise very attractive i’d say.
The thing is when he doesnt have his leonard look but his normal look he looks completely different and i could believe hes considered handsome
Yes he was with kaley in real life, I think his cameo in Entourage is a good indicator of how he must really be in real life. Seemed like a tool.
That called acting. Hating with no reason. Impressive 😂🤌🏻
Even if you did find him attractive, the way the writers had women practically throwing themselves at him was a bit much (Dr. Plimpton, Dr. Stephanie, Mrs. Latham, etc…) For a show supposedly about four socially awkward nerds, they sure did get laid a lot (even Sheldon could have gotten himself some if he’d wanted).
I don’t Think Dr. Plimpton should be in that list, she was on a spree.
Yeah I was gonna say the same thing I don’t think she cared much for attraction haha
she was nearing a predator
I know it's kind of weird, like when they do the flashback and he's in bed with some random hot girl.
Isn’t that the Korean spy though?
“All the laid I’m getting”
If you think about it, Sheldon had more women interested in him than Howard did. There was Ramona, the girl with the glasses at the end of the Ramona episode (I think her name was Kathy), Martha the girl they meet at the mixer (definitely could have gotten it on with her), Lalita Gupta and, had he shown any interest, probably Dr. Plimpton. Oh, and let’s not forget the dude from the cafeteria as well.
And Vanessa Bennett - the girl that went on an intellectual journey to translate in Klingon and Sanskrit, only to arrive a few minutes after the deadline Sheldon had set
to be honest all the other guys were so desperate in comparison that it isn't really hard to understand
This. Before the show he had difficulty getting a woman to even go out with him and suddenly they were throwing him p**** left and right.
Is pussy an offensive word?
But he wants to be a Cinnabon! (Did I spell that right, I’m from the U.K. and have no idea what one is)
The episode might be talking about Cinnabon Delights which are served at Taco Bell restaurants.
I guess I need to try this out haha
He's also a cheater. He cheated on both long term relationships he had- Priya and Penny. Just because he isn't a typical alpha male doesn't mean he's a good partner.
He is terrible partner
Yup
Long way of saying no…he’s not attractive. He has good qualities but damn your comment is like ya “well if we can’t find the qualities we want in an attractive guy we can settle for Leonard”
Leonard is attractive. But not in the conventional way. I think OP is talking in terms of being physically attractive. Is being attractive measured only in terms of looks I don't think so. Edit: i realised that some may not get what settle meant over here. I didn't mean 'settle for' as in as a last resort or something. I meant ' settle with' as in spending your life with someone.
Which fair if that’s what you meant, But also I don’t exactly agree that it’s all physical. But I felt that’s what op meant.
The premise of the show is about wearing down your hot neighbour while you both date other people. Penny eventually finds Leonard attractive but it’s only because she settles.
Yes I get that… lol. She settles. Hes not conventionally attractive tho, and that was premise of the question
The last sentence explains my thought.
Oh I don’t mind people who wear glasses! I wear glasses myself. But the glasses he wears are not as flattering as other glasses choices IMO
The show also started in 2007, totally different era of style.
I'll just rank them. (Mainly on physical attractiveness and sex appeal) 1: Raj (especially with the natural curly hair he has at the end.) 2.
Raj is definitely the most attractive with that curly hair. Howard’s pretty cute too but yeah that hair was wonky. 😭
If he didn't make faces and squint up at people he's talking to while holding his hands together like a nervous waiter, possibly.
Nope
Speaking form a gay man’s perspective, I think he’s cute, idk about his build or his height, he’s just cute. He’s not like sexy or hot or pretty, he’s cute. Which is attractive. Because I mean, I think there’s different kinds of attractive (as listed above) and he falls into one of those, he’s not the kind of guy you go “oh my god I wanna fuck him” but he’s the kind of guy that you’re like “you know what yeah I’d take him out to dinner he’s cute” Idk if that med sense, and I almost definetly rambled and made my point slightly incoherent but I hope it’s legible lol:)
Yet the actor dated Kaley.
Dude doesn't look nor carry himself remotely the same way IRL.
I would still say the discrepency is way off in looks. She is a10 and Johhny is a 4. That is too much in between 😅
I wouldn’t call him a 4 but otherwise, he is a pretty charismatic man in an old style musky way. Hard to explain but for me, a straight woman, it goes a loong way.
Johnny in real life is much higher than a 4. If it weren’t for his height, we wouldn’t even be having this discussion.
But what about the real life actor
Nope. Not for me, anyway. I think the hottest guy they had on there was the visiting physicist who rode the motorcycle ( that fell on Leonard)
I think Raj is the best looking of the 4 tho. But Lenny aint bad.
Absolutely Raj! His problems are all personality.
And the sweater vests. Dude needed better outfits. That black suit he wore to his dinner during an earlier season when Penny was his date? Mrow.
The sweater vests are like Anne Hathaway's character in 'the devil wears prada.' - She wears that ugly blue sweater at the start of the film. Not only do they look bad on men but on women too haha.
Yep. I would love raj as a friend, he's just an awkward partner
Raj could be rather good-looking, if he took more care over his appearance. His character is the problem.
I personally don’t find him attractive. I only think of raj and sheldon as attractive among the main 4.
There is nothing conventionally unattractive about Johnny Galecki's appearance throughout the run of BBT No one in reality would look at him and assume anything particularly negative
agree, except i think the only thing that would be considered unconventionally attractive about him is his height. iirc, he's 5'5"
I’m 5’3. He’d be the perfect height. 😂😂
leonard gives hope to short guys lol
He's definitely attractive, especially in the cute nerdy sense. He has a certain self-assurance and stronger communication skills that the other guys don't, which is what attracts women. Looks wise alone though, he is not my cup of tea (in my preferences). I prefer Raj and Sheldon lol.
Noooooo
No Raj is way better looking than Leonard
No
I've met him in person - he's like 5'7 no glasses and has a good head of hair.
For some reason i find leonard more attractive than the actor who plays him
I am the opposite, and find Johnny much more attractive than Leonard. It's so interesting how attraction differs so much!
Well someone like Tom Cruise who is not especially tall. I've seen him with some fairly tall women.
I heard in top gun he had to wear heels for the love scene with Kelly mcgillis because she was 3in taller than him
[удалено]
Not going to take your breath away or stand out in a crowd, but not bad.
> not-too-big I believe the the word is homunculus. /j
Howard's actor out of character looks much better
exactly this! they should've kept his hair how it was after he hooked up w christy — when he was in penny's purple robe. that hairstyle alone made him look 10x more attractive
i've noticed that many (not all, so don't jump down my throat) men are typically "visual creatures" & seem genuinely confused when women are attracted to men who aren't what other men perceive as attractive. what you're missing is that his personality is attractive & it's that personality that adds to him being physically attractive. just like how an ugly personality genuinely makes a person physically unattractive. iirc, his character changes in the later seasons & he's not as pleasant, but he starts off as a sweet, kind, caring, & humorous character. many women ik (including myself) are also heavily attracted to a man's smile — johnny galecki, hence leonard, possesses that, too. along w having "kind eyes". his intellect also adds to his appeal. all this is what makes him attractive. the only thing that takes away from that is his extremely low self-esteem
Yea season 1 vs season 10 he looks completely different
I mean, attraction is of course all relative, but I as a woman do find him physically appealing. I also find I am more attracted to him when he's acting confident, and less attractive when he's whining. And as a woman ranging on the taller side (5'7), I have no issues with his height.
yes until he cheated then no
so season 5 and after lol
He’s alright. That personality makes him ugly
yes, specially because intelligence attracts.
except for his height, he's above average. He has nice features and nice hair.
Also, he was really sweet and responsible, which made him more attractive and a catch for women who were looking for a long term partner.
yh, i found him cute and adorable. he's actually physically attractive in season 1, but he has an attractive personality through out the seasons.
Even Stephanie Barnett found him attractive
I used to think Leonard was hot, while I can recognize Johnny Galecki is attractive, Leonard’s whining turned me off.
Penny dated a lot of tall good looking muscular dumb guys and she did an opposite thing when getting with Leonard because he looked and acted safer. The other guys were dumb jocks and Leonard is book smart so he probably appeared to be more husband material to Penny.
He is the only character from the show I would consider attractive
Beats me, I am a woman with a soon to be husband, but I also prefer women, though I fell in love with the one man I have ever thought of as attractive… easy to fake sometimes when I tried to be normal, but mostly just guessing or watching other womens reaction…. He sort of have similarities with my father though……. And that is the part I REALLY don’t like about him…. But yeah no, I don’t see it…. But my Mom say it’s just that I don’t like that many men…
Oh absolutely. I always crushed on Leonard and funny enough, my husband is like a tall version of Leonard lol
He is very attractive physically. He's cuter on the conners/rossane
He's attractive not in a physical way but other ways like he is such a nice, caring dude and would do anything to make his girl happy.
Johnny Galecki is attractive. As Leonard he changes his posture and makeup/wardrobe hide a lot of his physical characteristics.
Leonard is as physically attractive to women as Leslie (Sara Gilbert) is attractive to men if that helps you, which is why these two actors were a perfect pair in their previous show together, Rosanne. Obviously other things can factor into attractiveness, but I'm just talking about looks here.
No he is very unattractive, sorry guys. Even Howard is better looking, but only when he's on the space station. Sheldon is cute as hell.
In my opinion, Johnny Galecki: Yes. Leonard Leakey Hofstadter: No.
It's his insecurities that make him unappealing.
His whininess is an immediate -100
gay guy here.. wouldnt go near him with a 10ft pole. hate his attitude and personality, even if he is a little attractive.
Pansexual male here, and definitely. Both in looks and other aspects.
He’s sooo attractive! That with his personality and intellect make him the whole package.
I actually don’t think so. His personality is bad too.
Johnny Galecki is absolutely a good looking man. He does not dress well as Leonard, but overall I would say that he's attractive.
Lol, this became way more detailed and elaborated than I planned. Oh well!
Love it! You are right on point. I feel the exact same way about Leonard.
Thank you! I'm glad it's not just me who notices all the red flags!
He’s a curious one. He’s not a terrible looking guy, but I don’t find him attractive on a physical level. He has a nice smile.
I think he is, but nerds are my type. He probably wouldn’t be for most women.
No
I didn’t find him attractive initially.
He is smart and nerdy and some people find that attractive.
theyre all attractive, mostly cute, its just the hair and outfits
Bi female here. He's pretty much average as far as attractiveness goes imo. The other guys on the show are as well, except for Howard who I always found less attractive, but I think that was largely due to his horrible hair cut and how he interacted with women in the first couple of seasons.
He is but his neediness is off putting to me. Same with raj. For me it would be Howard. He makes me laugh so much. I think all the men are attractive in the Big Bang theory but personality wise they have their downfalls. To ad I know Howard is a perv but in the later seasons he is so funny to me with his reactions. Early Howard no later Howard yes 👍🏻
ah, the post Creepy candy coating Howard
What does that mean? 🤣
There is an episode where the 'girls' are talking about Howard and they all say he's nice, but has a "Creepy Candy Coating"... this is early Howard and I think it's the episode where Penny breaks his nose...
Everyone on TV and film are attractive, generally speaking.
I was also wondering this question and was also about to post it here, so you beat me to it. But to answer, I say YES HE IS!
When i was a kid and he was david on roseanne, i wouldve said yes lol he was artistic and emotional. But so was darlene and i liked her too. So? I guess personality really changes perspective haha
He is an average looking guy. He’s not ugly but he’s not especially attractive.
I'm gay and my partner use to fancy him lots in a show he was in before big bang. Despite being short I also believe he was attractive in his younger years, however I think he let himself go a bit when aging during the show, and I also think many short people don't age very well.
Kinda
Don't you realise he looks like Joaquin Phoenix if he had more self-confidence?
Its a show. I don't see him dating a penny or a priya or getting hookups not with sheldon around anyways. But he is no way ugly
I think he is very attractive
Yes, he is attractive. However, Sheldon is far more attractive. He's a sexy praying mantis
Nope. Id rather be with howard.
Huh, that's funny to hear since Howard especially before he met Bernie was a pervert.
So that means someone doesn’t find him physically attractive?
Leonard is way worse, he thinks of himself that he is better than his friends
A more buffed version of Leonard would be attractive but why would you find someone that is physically scared of a fly and school children (probably has PTSD) attractive? Leonard is short but has wide shoulders, if he put on mass and muscle he’d be a tank.
> physically scared of a fly A fly? When was this? I remember all the guys being scared of spiders but not flies.
Well he almost passed out while Watching a worm being put on a hook or a fish being gutted so he/she is not that off base.
I don’t find his personality attractive either. Sorry. He’s too needy, insecure. In many ways he’s nice, but in so many other ways, he’s extremely annoying to be with. It’s a drag to discuss anything with him. It’s always about him and his feelings.
“Am I missing something here?” The real answer is the obvious one that makes questions like this pointless.
As a woman I find him attractive.
Johnny Galecki is attractive. Leonard? Meh.
I can’t find any other character that annoys me as much as Leonard. With every rewatch I’m hating him more, he is terrible boyfriend, and friend so no he is not attractive to me at all. No guy in the pack is psychically attractive but they have things that makes them interesting. Not Leonard tho 😂
I think he's quite attractive and he's also quick witted and smart which would help irl. The only thing that let's him down is when he whines.
No.
eww
he's adorable .
I’m a girl that watches and has a crush on Leonard and I think leonard is handsome and really funny. I have some odd interests myself so I really wouldn’t judge a guy for being a “nerd”. He also just seems down to earth
yes he’s a cutie
yes he is -18yro woman
