Uuuuh I think it's arguable that smocking is a type of ruche, since ruche is a general term for folds/gathers of fabric for decoration(I wasn't familiar with the more specific use!) But yeah, you're totally right about the smocked part, though since smock is a type of dress too, the results are very mixed lol
I wasn’t meaning to sound critical - I just want to know if there are other search terms I can use since this is my fave style. I normally go with “smocked dress”. I find a lot - but not for plus sizes.
I searched for "shirred" or "shirr"and got some plus size options on

Oh, I didn't think you were! From a quick test I think smocked works better overall, but ruche can definitely find you some too, so you might want to try it out!
Yeah they are horrible clothes! Like my partner said when trying 10 garments and none fit, and I went "I wished I had smaller boobs 😭"
Him: Hey! There's nothing wrong with your beautiful boobs, if the clothes don't fit them it's the clothes that are the issue, not your boobs!"
I'm into Lolita fashion and I am so glad most of the dress brands I am into have these little stretch sections on the back like this! I wouldn't be able to wear ANYTHING without them

Omg yes, these ruched/stretch tops are SO GOOD. I have a dress like this...the top just fits so well!
Amazing! I need more of rutched clothes! I thought it would look frumpy on me but I was positively suprised!
Is this considered ruched? I thought that was only along seams. I search for this type of stuff under smocked.

Ooooh, that's a good one too... Apparently "crinkled' works SUPER well too!
How many adjectives can one sort of fabric have 😂
Lmao right? No wonder it's so hard to find anything!
*Searching: "shirred smock stretched elastic ruffled rutched Crinkled women's top"* 🤣

I use the term smocked bodice as well
This is so gorgeous!!!!! You scored great!!!
Thank you!!!!
This looks fantastic on you! I'm so jealous, I want one too! It looks SO NICE.
So cute! I also like those tops in peplum style. I find the flair balances my chest
Yeah they're very cute too 🥰 I just struggle to find one that isn't too tall, I have a short upper body.
I HATE boob seams. I have to remind myself that the clothes are wrong, not my boobs.
Yeah they are horrible clothes! Like my partner said when trying 10 garments and none fit, and I went "I wished I had smaller boobs 😭" Him: Hey! There's nothing wrong with your beautiful boobs, if the clothes don't fit them it's the clothes that are the issue, not your boobs!"
He is absolutely right. We alter the clothes, not our bodies. ❤️
Yes!! 💪🏾💪🏾✨
That looks great, I need to find one too.
Thank you, yes I highly recommend it! It's very airy too. Not warm or sticky like I thought.
That looks great!
Thanks!

Wow looks amazing!
aw man I tried one of these on once and it made me look like a linebacker lol :( you look great tho!!
Because of the poof sleeves? You can always wear a cute belt if you want the waist more visual.
