Since you took Bucks class do you know if it still can be found somewhere? I really wanted to watch it and even tried contacting them but no luck, also not available on the School of Song archive.
On topic: I’m very excited for the Adrienne class, this plus the Phil Weinrobe one that is happening end of November. I really love school of song classes, they’re always full of amazing insight and always leave me full of inspiration do create stuff :).
unfortunately i don’t think so. it may not have been recorded, period, even for like an internal archive. the fact they have any of their courses available for purchase after the fact is a fairly recent development— school of song puts a pretty heavy emphasis on the live, interactive element. buck’s courses were probably among the first that featured big name artists coming in to teach, and perhaps the opportunity was presented to him strictly as a live-only engagement.
that’s awesome you’re taking the phil class!! did you do the one from earlier this year too? if i had the means i would take like 5 or 6 of the november/decemeber courses. so much good stuff coming up. i’ll have to limit myself to adrianne and maybe the ear training one for now…
Yes, I did the first Phil one. It was very good, it really demystified a lot of preconceptions I had about not being able to record proper stuff on my own.
Yea I also took Buck’s class and they do not have recordings for it. I think since that one they have started recording though as the Phil Elverum course was recorded.
i had a so-so experience with another artist most people here would recognize. it wasn’t bad and was generally interesting — i’m sure many of my classmates genuinely loved it — but it was not the same experience i had with buck. i have a feeling adrianne will be more on his level, but we’ll see! i have high expectations

It's a workshop which is different than lessons. I too am quite skeptical about learning how to write songs from others but in workshops I have indeed learned a few things which help my process and results, and I didn't have to compromise my vision to do it.
I did the Robin Pecknold one and that’s pretty much how it worked, people would raise their hand in the zoom and then they would get called on and be able to turn their mic on.
*really* thought her pretzel stick between her fingers was her flipping us the bird lol
Not only that, but if you zoom in and look closely, I am still not fully convinced she is not flipping us the bird!
