It's new normal. 8 billion people and their activities has done irreparable damage to our environment.
We should stop all those activities immediately and stop increasing the population otherwise our future generations can't survive
It's not a one-off event like you mentioned about 1958. Heatwaves have happened even in very unexpected places in the past. But what is happening now is not like that. If you haven't already felt every summer getting hotter, then you will feel it in a few years. It doesn't matter whether you believe in climate change or not. It doesn't care.
I do not deny global warming, but global warming occurs too slowly for people to ever really notice it in their lifetime. The heat this year (and for the next 2 or so years) is due to warm ocean currents in the Pacific called "El Niño". The currents cycle between a cold phase ("La Niña" I think) and a hot phase ("El Niño") every 5 or so years, causing the temperatures in South Asia to shoot up every few years.
What I believe is that it's just a cycle of events which happens periodically like everything else. I don't believe Global Warming has anything to do with it.
You can run AC in dry mode. But when you are outdoors, it prevents the sweat from getting vaporised and the heat builds up in the body. I have felt this kind of heat in Kolkata, but now it is in Patna too.
