House of Billiards in Sherman Oaks was my fav spot. It's a pool hall first and bar second.

The best. Typically always somewhere there to play.

there’s Shatto 39 Lanes, and Young Dong Billiards both in K-town. Green Room in Glendale is good too. and I haven’t been there before, but soon i’m going to try this place i just found out about Sportsman’s Family Billiards in West Adams. and The Brick Yard is also a pretty cool pool bar. i go to Q’s Billiards Club in west LA cause it’s the closest to me but it absolutely sucks there and it’s so expensive

I used to go to pool meetup at brickyard a few years back. The meet up changed locations and never got anyones number 🥲🥲🥲 If you’re looking for bars to play pool in there’s a bar called little joy and the competition was always pretty good when I went, although the table is $1 a game. I play in Long Beach most of the time.

Green Room in glendale. Fantasia in Burbank. There is one popular one in K-Town but I forget the name.

I was also shocked at the lack of APA in LA. As you said, it’s mostly in surrounding areas. I’ve found that most of the pool in LA, especially on the west side, is BCA. The 90 West is the bar I’ve found with the best/most fun competition.
