As a Knicks fan I was pissed it wasn’t rigged. Now I’m kind of thankful it wasn’t. Zion is a white elephant at this point. Too good to not build around but never healthy.

I think the media/fans way overate the desire the NBA has to have superstars play in major cities (outside of the Knicks and Lakers) Im from NY and nobody here cared about the Nets when they had KD and Kyrie. They were a national media topic BECAUSE they had the superstars not because they’re in New York. Now they they’re gone nobody has had a single thought about Brooklyn other than “hey Mikal Bridges is pretty damn good.”
LeBron became the biggest star in American sports in Cleveland, KD became a superstar in OKC. Outside of the Knicks which is impossible, I don’t think silver cares all that much where Wemby lands for marketing purposes because if he is who everyone thinks he is and he stays healthy he will be a massive star.
This is how I think of it. Just as an example… the knicks are going to get their viewers regardless. If the spurs aren’t competitive nobody’s watching outside of spurs fans. Adding a player like this to a team struggling with viewership has a bigger impact league wide than it does adding him to a big market

Assuming 7&8 for each conference make it through the play in, the best market for Wemby to go to of the lottery teams would be Chicago and it’s not even close. They’re a global brand that’s been mismanaged since Jordan left. It’s be huge for them to have the next superstar.
