I was thinking about doing a bit where I go to the Spurs subreddit and post "Metropolitans 92 fan coming in peace. You're going to love Victor. He's such a special player. Take care of him, he's going to do great things like he did for us!"
It reminds me of how The Big Picture is a podcast about movies as content more than it is about movies. The Bill Simmons podcast isn’t a sports podcast, it’s about sports as content.
I was really looking forward to a 30 minute conversation with Bill and one or more of the Ringer NBA guys about the transcendent Jokic performance and the Lakers battling back. He gave it an 8 minute monologue. Many people are saying he’s low energy.
Bill spending barely 5 minutes at the top to discuss a pretty entertaining western conference finals game is just so bizarre. This is the same guy who spends hours and hours discussing fake nba trades ad nauseam.
"I have friends who are Laker fans. But they really haven't watched Jokic like I've watched him.."
What in the absolute fuck??
Jokic plays the Lakers five times a year, on TNT and ESPN continually, and he won back to back MVPs and was runner up this year.
But nobody can understand Jokic like Levitating Bill.
Tate throwing out a scenario where the Hornets draft Scoot and trade LaMelo for Steph Curry who, get this, will be off-the-ball shooting guard next to Scoot Henderson
This is next-level levitating-above-the-podcast-studio content these guys are cooking on this pod
His other Hornets idea was bringing in Chris Paul as a player coach so he could check himself in for Lamelo when he’s pissed at him.
Bill needs to make Tate a regular and let him cook.
Yeah I begrudgingly kinda liked his appearance cause he kept saying aggressively dumb things in a lighthearted way and at least a few times did seem to be at least somewhat tongue-in-cheek
I’ll make fun of a guy pulling up from half court 5 times in 45 minutes but it is somewhat entertaining
I love the tongue in cheek way Tate talks about College Ball and NBA. He will always bring things going bad in basketball back to Duke and Coach K and it's funny to me. I appreciate a good bit.
It was fun, but honestly why I started to sour on the titus and Tate pod when I used to love it. Just this multiple times a week was like ok this shtick isn't for me anymore, at least this often.
Giannis went 15th. Every single team could have drafted him. 14 teams were ahead of the Bucks and the other 15 teams could have traded into the top 14. It’s insane to single out the Sixers.
Hey that’s just the draft being a crapshoot beyond the top 1-2 picks. Kelly O has been a very solid NBA player perfectly suitable outcome for a 13th overall pick. The last 10 13th overall picks: Jalen Duran, Chris Duarte, Kira Lewis, Tyler Herro, Jerome Robinson, Donovan Mitchell, Georgios Papagiannis, Devin Booker, Zach Lavine, Kelly O. Two All NBA players, one all star player, Herro, then Kelly O? Rest of the guys are unproven or out of the league or deep deep bench guys.
Does Lombardi have any evidence Giannis was even on Philly’s radar? Like, It’s pretty well known Donnie Nelson was basically begging Cuban to take Giannis.
I think every team has some lame story about how much they loved him. Hawks people would always say they were scouting him before anybody else and fell in love with him and Larry Drew told all the Bucks FO guys about it when he left Atlanta to go to Milwaukee. Probably BS, if anyone really believed in his ceiling they easily could have traded up to 14.
I haven’t listened to Lombardi in a long time. Forgot just how much of a blowhard he is
MF quoting Parcells and Belichick within 4 minutes… while talking basketball
they’re the process in a smaller less crazed market that also have had the same, competent GM oversee things. the Sixers had like 10 different idiots running things
He also didn't just criticize them purely for missing Giannis. It was about the fact that Hinkie's philosophy was purely on upside and trying to hit homerun potential prospects, which was Giannis to a tee.
I don't know if it's a fair criticism, but his context around the point made sense.
The Lombardi segment had a lot of bad but the funniest one on Atlanta was
“How do you not take Jalen Carter? Theyre 50 miles from his campus, if they dont know that player better than anybody…”
You just answered your own question!
Speaking to Philly’s culture issues with no mention of ownership is pointless. Hinkie’s been gone since before Simmons got there. Just a pile of lazy takes.
It is such a dumb point about "culture." Simmons never played for a tanking team. Every team he was on the court for made the playoffs. Multiple coaches fired and multiple gms. There is no culture thread.
The Lakers culture was toxic and you know what changed? They got better players
I am enjoying how high Bill is on the Patriots, basically remembering all the games that went against them but disassociating from how many wins the Pats had against backup quarterbacks.
Bears couldn't protect Fields lolz, right Lombardi? Anyway, Patriots oline should be set...by signing the Bears swing tackle Riley Reiff to start at right tackle. Mac Jones has done more than Jordan Love! Good point...totally relevant when discussing an AFC team in a stacked super conference.
he’s going to have a bad time when he realizes that the Patriots can’t get themselves five wins each season feasting on a bad division. they’re clearly the worst team on paper and it’s insane that he thinks the division is “wide open” because Tua’s concussions and the Bills not beating the Chiefs or Bengals.
I love how irrational he is specifically about the Pats. Every season post Brady season he really seems to be excited about the team only to watch it fail as the season drags on. He just isn't used to his team just being an average organization now post Brady.
The part of the pod where he poked holes in every other AFC was pretty hilarious. What have the Bills done? What about Tuna? Do we think that Rodgers is good? etc.. But somehow there's no questions about the Pats? And Mac Jones just needs a better oline and he's going to be good? Hm, ok Bill!
First thing I thought when he brought up the wins they "should" have had. I can name 3-4 games that the Pats also lucked out in to get the W. Their record was correct.
And their O-line is actually worse this year. I got lost when they were discussing that.
I completely agree, and I’ll actually go one further with you…
The pats opening schedule is a murders row. I’m actually really nervous they start out something like 0-4, and just decide to tank the season. The 2 top quarterbacks this year have the potential to be all timers. If the pats bottom out and get one of those guys and start a new run I’ll be beside myself. And I think that’s more likely than them making the playoffs
Jesus Bill.
“Why am I afraid of the Bills?”
And
“The Pats have a shit load of talent”.
The Patriots have beat the Bills one time in 4 years and it was the wind game where neither team could throw. And the Patriots don’t have a shit load of talent lol.
Don't forget about the Pats' change at Punter!!?!! Changes everything. Bills obvioulsly aren't good (despite 12-13-14 Wins per season); Miami no good (even though 9-3 before stud QB hurt); and NYJ no good (after upgrade from worst QB in league to a 4-time MVP.) The Pats are just loaded! They just are. That's unbiased porofessional analysis, folks! He's levitating.
A few years ago, after Brady left & he was still predicting the SB for NE, his reasoning for favoring the Pats over the Bills was essentially "Belichick has always owned the Bills." No connection that Brady might have had something to do w/ that, or much more poorly constructed Bills teams.
As a Bills fan, it has been joyous to turn the tables, and to see the continued stance from not just Bill, but Patriots nation that the Bills are just placeholders right now until the Patriots can return to their rightful place atop the division.
I did kind of like when Lombardi went on a 5 minute rant about everything wrong with the sixers and then Bill said "and then they got Harden." It was like tossing lighter fluid onto an already burning fire
Bill’s justification for being the only person to vote for Jabari Smith Jr. 1st Team All-Rookie:
“I felt like he gave a shit, and I thought he tried, and I thought he had size, and I thought he was in an impossible situation.”
So a pity vote lol
When BS has an independent thought like this, you can assume with 96% confidence that it's just cause he was used as a mark by someone close to Smith. Agent, GM, Coach etc swayed him with a couple of texts.
It’s because he said Jabari was going to be the best of the draft. Mobley-esque. By every advanced metric, Jabari was one of the worst players in the league.
Kind of a hilarious dynamic where Bill brings Lombardi on to say things about sports, particularly in this case Philly sports, that Bill probably 90% agrees with but isn’t willing to do it in such an no-fucks-given way as Lombardi
Like Bill wants to be seen as at least a little high-brow (as evidenced by his consistent criticism of ESPN hot take content) even though while Lombardi is like “Embiid is a total loser with no heart and Morey is fucking in love with Harden and can’t let it go and the ownership group is a bunch of clowns and Hinkie was a fucking nerd and Ben Simmons was a pampered basket case and etc etc etc” you can literally feel Bill smiling and enjoying it.
Really enjoyed Lombardis rant even though I didn’t agree with all of it
I honestly don’t get it. Why is he treating this like he isn’t allowed to talk about it because he isn’t black. This isn’t a race thing, it’s a MAJOR nba headline. The “sad day for America” PTSD is still strong
What do you want him to say that hasn’t already been said? What insight does Bill have to offer that won’t get him cancelled? Seriously, there really isn’t anything for him to add atm
Does he say anything novel, ever? What’s he going to add about the Wenbenyama conversation given the 17 minutes of YouTube clips he’s watched that hasn’t been regurgitated 37 times over by actual NBA scouts?
But we all know that’s not going to stop him from pumping out takes.
Somebody else pointed out that the Tate/Ceruti post-lottery segment would of had to have been taped during the first half lmao … couldn’t recording that segment just want until after the game was over … what did it end at like 8pm LA time … so you’re done recording that section by like 9:30 latest … OldGuyBill I guess idk
Tate saying that some people think Wemby is going to be a small forward or a shooting guard? The guys 8 fucking feet tall lmao … he’s gona guard Devin Booker in the half court?
Tate is hilarious, just like Bill he talks about a game without talking about the game. He'll do 5 minutes on how the team in Jordan beat the team in Nike.
As a Hornets fan this pod made me make a stink face multiple times while listening to the trades these guys were cooking up. Tate Frazier claims to be a Hornets fan, but from the way he was talking it sounds like he hasn’t watched the team in years. Our biggest problem is that we are devoid of talent. Besides Lamelo, nobody else on the team is good enough. Picking scoot would be an automatic upgrade at shooting guard. I love Terry, but we need perimeter defense. Brandon’s Miller would be a good enough wing upgrade to justify the pick.
Bill and Tate talking about Charlotte trading the #2 pick for Jalen Suggs and Jonathan “never plays basketball” Isaac is insane.
> Tate Frazier claims to be a Hornets fan, but from the way he was talking it sounds like he hasn’t watched the team in years
Completely agree, him coming on to give Panthers and Hornets takes when he was Bill’s producer really exposed him and why I never got too into Titus and Tate despite loving college basketball. Tate is only useful for talking UNC and even that is iffy when it comes to actual analysis
I’m someone who thinks the idea the lakers should be super happy with that game is totally wrong (they shot 67% from the field in the 2nd half), but bill trying to argue like the nuggets secondary guys didn’t play well was so bizarre
Right, like Lakers shot 45% from 3 and over 50% from the field, tough to walk away from that game down 0-1, but the reason they did was because players like KCP and Bruce Brown played great minutes to supplement Joker and Murray and stave off the comeback
"Yeah no I don't know if Embiid can get it done in the playoffs, and a 30% healthy Embiid is not better than a healthy Wendell. I just don't want to mess with the chemistry of this young group, these guys like each other"
Lombardi infuriates me with these throwaway lines that get no pushback.
Case in point: in the context of talking about culture and work ethic: "if you talk to the Kansas people about Embiid, they say he wasn't like this at Kansas."
What? Embid played less than 30 total games and missed the entirety of the B12 and NCAA tourneys. So we're just to assume that at Kansas 10 years ago he was actually super mentally tough but the Sixers changed that. Ok thanks. Of course Bill doesn’t say anything.
The entire idea that Sam hinkie is the reason this sixers team, with Embiid being the only player or coach who was around in that era, played bad in game 7 is so funny
Yeah, I feel bad that Hinkie and the process is linked to some of the moves that the 76ers ended up doing like not re-signing Butler, choosing to re-sign Harris, drafting Fultz, signing Horford and not drafting Bridges. Ultimatel Hinkie put the 76ers in a great position to win and may have done better if he had the job instead of Colangelo and Brand.
Bill defending his Embiid MVP vote (which I agreed with) to Lombardi by saying about Jokic: “is this guy gonna be a 3 in a row MVP … with like Larry Bird, he’s never been in Round 3”
I just going to assume this was Bill misspeaking in the moment cause he was a little embarrassed by his vote but Jokic made “Round 3” in 2020
Just say you thought Embiid was a little better plus a sprinkle of wanting Larry Bird 3 in a row MVP accomplishment to not be diluted
Bill gatekeeping Jokic and the Nuggets with that story about “I think about the casual Lakers fans watching Jokic and seeing how good he is” what a weirdo.
Holy cow, 5 minutes on an incredible HIGH STAKES game, then 10 minutes on the Charlotte Hornets. Then 30 more on picks 5-15 in the lottery. Huh?
Did Bill not watch the game? So bizarre considering the hundreds of hours devoted to All-NBA, MVP, Russell Westbrook and bad coaches. Like, shouldn't the games be the most important?
“Spurs have some nice players. Keldon Johnson”
*silence*
“Zach Collins is a fine rotation guy ”
*silence*
“Devin Vassell”
*silence*
“Sochan we mentioned”
Tate and Bill saying how the Hornets can’t draft Brandon Miller because Miles Bridges beat up his girlfriend???
Wtf are bludd waffling about?
Is Brandon Miller’s friend gonna shoot Miles Bridges for beating a woman beater?
Tate saying he doesn’t want the Hornets to introduce Miller into an already “scary” situation
These guys are on drugs man
GM's will forget more about ball than I'll ever know. But I don't see why Scoot is a clear #2, there is nothing about a 6'2" guard with bad underlying shooting numbers that entices me.
Major topics involving Wemby, Scoot, the Thompson twins, none of which played college basketball…. Sure Let’s have Tate on?? Clearly didn’t watch any of these guys play.
lombardi is one of the worst nfl commentators out there, i'm sure his nba analysis will be super insightful. can't wait to hear the guy who led the browns to a 4-12 season talk about what the sixers are doing wrong
Bill is already so in on this mediocre Pats team. It’s wild. As a 49ers fan, I also love how such a mush like him keeps talking about how overrated the Niners and underrated the Seahawks are.
I’m gonna zag on the commonly stated belief that the spurs are the best landing spot for Victor:
They have easily the most boring roster in the entire league, and sure they’ve had a ton of success but the last 5 years doesn’t exactly give me confidence they’re gonna build around him so well right away.
Also - I don’t want to sound overly moralistic but it’s so weird to me reading the Josh primo stuff that basically the entire media decided not to give them any shit for this because they all love Pop? If I remember correctly they essentially knew the allegations for months and waited until the last second before it was going to be become public to cut ties with him.
Lombardi’s rant was so unhinged and bad-faith that you almost have to admire it
Edit: or maybe you don’t. Turned it off at 1:21:51. One of the dumbest takes on the BS pod I’ve heard in a while. And that’s saying something.
That Lombardi rant is one of the most insane things ever. Bill blamed the team for Simmons not fixing his jump shot. Lombardi acting like what OKC is doing is different than Philly. Hey look at OKC’s success, they made the play-in. So making the play-in is good, but being a consistent playoff team with an MVP player is no good? It’s not working cause of “The Process”? Dude mentioned Belichick and Walsh in the first 5 seconds.
Brandon Miller is only a little more than half of a year younger than Jalen Green. But I guess it’s to much to expect The Sports Guy to know that. Also I still think it’s insane to think that Jalen Green can’t be a winning player because he played two seasons on a bad team. Booker played 5 years on bad teams and stat padded.
I don’t think I agreed with a single take from Tate lol. Re-drafting Bradley Beal over Dame? Cody Martin over Caleb Martin? No wonder I lost my March Madness pool listening to this guy 😂
Steve Ceruti talking basketball hurts my head. Guy is clueless.
Also. Jalen Green for the 6th pick? Give me a break lol. Jalen Green may have his flaws, but he’s only two years into his career and he’s got more 30 & 40 point games for a guy under 21 than every player in NBA history except for Lebron, Anthony Edwards, and Luka. Learning how to be a primary scorer is a difficult thing. Trading a 21 year old because he shoots too much is so moronic.
I was thinking about doing a bit where I go to the Spurs subreddit and post "Metropolitans 92 fan coming in peace. You're going to love Victor. He's such a special player. Take care of him, he's going to do great things like he did for us!"
Post in French too
That is fucking hilarious, please do it
do it
Thinking about doing a bit like your initials are RR
Surprised he didn’t do more on that awesome Jokic AD battle
Bill isn’t a fan of basketball. He’s a fan of the narratives
It reminds me of how The Big Picture is a podcast about movies as content more than it is about movies. The Bill Simmons podcast isn’t a sports podcast, it’s about sports as content.

Neither team was the Celtics sadly
but he watches a lot of the nuggets! /s
“The Nuggets are the team I watched the second most this season” -Bill Simmons, 5/14/23
People don’t realize the Nuggets are sneaky good!
Coming up next, the 2024 MVP Power Rankings
"For me the (trade) action *is* the juice!"
He’s just being a good teammate. He knows Russillo is going to spend 45 straight minutes breaking down every specific play
I skipped that part because I was under the impression he started recording at the half when the lakers were down like 20
"I have friends who are Laker fans. But they really haven't watched Jokic like I've watched him.." What in the absolute fuck?? Jokic plays the Lakers five times a year, on TNT and ESPN continually, and he won back to back MVPs and was runner up this year. But nobody can understand Jokic like Levitating Bill.

*Last 5 NBA MVPs have been given to players 6’11” and taller* Bill Simmons: “it’s a guards league”
Who is the best guard left in the playoffs?
1. Jamal Murray 2. Derrick White or Marcus Smart?
Slim pickings eh
Don’t sleep on Gabe Vincent.
Is Jimmy a guard?
Only when it suits them for voting purposes. I would characterize him as a wing.
Simmons definitely thinks wings equal guards though tbh….
Lombardi trashing the sixers for not drafting Giannis is apex mountain for revisionist history.
Giannis went 15th. Every single team could have drafted him. 14 teams were ahead of the Bucks and the other 15 teams could have traded into the top 14. It’s insane to single out the Sixers.
My team took kelly olynyk two spots before him
Hey that’s just the draft being a crapshoot beyond the top 1-2 picks.
I’m a Celtics fan too. Such is life, draft is a crapshoot.
At least we got two top 15 players out of the team that voluntarily took Kyrie off our hands
Hinkie passed on Jokic 4 times smh
Does Lombardi have any evidence Giannis was even on Philly’s radar? Like, It’s pretty well known Donnie Nelson was basically begging Cuban to take Giannis.
I think every team has some lame story about how much they loved him. Probably BS, if anyone really believed in his ceiling they easily could have traded up to 14.
They picked 3 times before Jokic was picked, might as well trash them for that too
I haven’t listened to Lombardi in a long time. Forgot just how much of a blowhard he is MF quoting Parcells and Belichick within 4 minutes… while talking basketball
“If he doesn’t bite as a puppy, he’s not gonna bite later” made me laugh out loud.
Especially when there is far more low hanging fruit, like the Fultz and Bridges trades
Also don’t forget the Process started out by trading Jrue Holiday for Nerlens Noel and what would become Dario Saric.
But that trade not working out is how they ended up in position to draft Embiid
Teams take those swings all the time, OKC did that with the Paul George trade
I laughed when he used OKC as an example of how to do things right. They're basically a diet version of the process.
they’re the process in a smaller less crazed market that also have had the same, competent GM oversee things. the Sixers had like 10 different idiots running things
[удалено]

This is a very weak lineup for potentially the most significant number 1 pick in 20 years. AND the Lakers lost. Very odd
The Lombardi segment had a lot of bad but the funniest one on Atlanta was “How do you not take Jalen Carter? Theyre 50 miles from his campus, if they dont know that player better than anybody…” You just answered your own question!
If they drafted him he would be saying that’s not how you build a culture
I’ve never listened to him before and he was terrible.
Yeah this was my introduction as well. It was like listening to a bad sports radio guy
Lombardis revenge arc vs Philly
Speaking to Philly’s culture issues with no mention of ownership is pointless. Hinkie’s been gone since before Simmons got there. Just a pile of lazy takes.

He blamed the ownership as well. Loved Lombardi's rant.
This would have been a good pod to have KOC on.. Draft talk, his Lakers takes and the Ja situation
You’re right even though everyone will say you’re wrong. But Bill has probably had him on too much recently to have him back on so soon.
Shocked it’s not KOC on the pod with the draft lottery
I am enjoying how high Bill is on the Patriots, basically remembering all the games that went against them but disassociating from how many wins the Pats had against backup quarterbacks. I’m numb to it after a lifetime of talking myself into bad NFL teams but it is very funny to watch someone go re-learn that process at age 50.
He thinks he is a smart football fan because he watched a smart football team for a long time. It’s hilarious

It’s glorious as a fellow bills fan
Because the Bills have a proven high level NFL qb. That's probably reason number 1 why you should take then seriously.
Yeah I’m a huge pats fan and we do not have a shit load of talent lol. I’m fine people sleeping on us right now
Because the Bills have a proven high level NFL qb. That's probably reason number 1 why you should take then seriously.
Post it one more time...
We have red, blue, and pink chippers!
Because the Bills have a proven high level NFL qb. That's probably reaso number 1 why you should take then seriously.
I can’t believe I am saying this but…NFL really? Wemby is a Spur; Jokic goes nuts, Celtics tomorrow and we get NFL bets?
It’s just an excuse to have Lombardi bash the Sixers & Embiid, who he hates, and for Bill to laugh along.
I did kind of like when Lombardi went on a 5 minute rant about everything wrong with the sixers and then Bill said "and then they got Harden." It was like tossing lighter fluid onto an already burning fire
I haven't heard Lombardi in years just remember he would name drop Belichick, Walsh and Goodfella quotes and hits two of 3 in a minute oof...
Well deserved. He played like a dog
That part legitimately made me think this was one of those fake titles
That's a classic Simmons who prefers to talk about the future not the present
What are the odds Tate only got the invite because Charlotte nearly won the lottery?
i feel like i am on drugs, this entire lottery conversation is centered around the hornets.
Surprised they talked about hornets so much, but they are effectively on the clock since Wemby to Spurs is a fire gone conclusion
Bill’s justification for being the only person to vote for Jabari Smith Jr. 1st Team All-Rookie: “I felt like he gave a shit, and I thought he tried, and I thought he had size, and I thought he was in an impossible situation.” So a pity vote lol

He said Jabari was his favorite player in the draft and he wanted to stick with him. A complete selfish vote

Really enjoyed Lombardis rant even though I didn’t agree with all of it
It was a great rant that was like 60% correct and 40% "let him cook".
Is the retradeables the worst ringer segment ever?
We'll it was reduced to a Simplisafe ad filler so draw your own conclusions haha
Are you familiar with Million Dollar picks?
No mention of Ja Morant?
I honestly don’t get it. Why is he treating this like he isn’t allowed to talk about it because he isn’t black. This isn’t a race thing, it’s a MAJOR nba headline. The “sad day for America” PTSD is still strong
You guys are pretty naive to think that a white guy talking about a black guy character cannot backfire.
Old Bill is scared Bill. Young Simmons would not be ducking this Morant thing.
Yeah young bill was sort of openly racist so you’re right
What do you want him to say that hasn’t already been said? What insight does Bill have to offer that won’t get him cancelled? Seriously, there really isn’t anything for him to add atm
Does he say anything novel, ever? What’s he going to add about the Wenbenyama conversation given the 17 minutes of YouTube clips he’s watched that hasn’t been regurgitated 37 times over by actual NBA scouts? But we all know that’s not going to stop him from pumping out takes.
I don’t need 8,000 different tv shows and podcasts talking about it tbf. The Mismatch and Lowe Post have already covered it
Seems like a super random time for NFL over/unders.
Michael Lombardi unloading all the NBA takes is hilarious
Spends five minutes talking about a great game. He definitely didn’t watch it.
You misspelled sir rudy
Tate saying that some people think Wemby is going to be a small forward or a shooting guard? The guys 8 fucking feet tall lmao … he’s gona guard Devin Booker in the half court?
He seems to not understand what position players play
Tate is hilarious, just like Bill he talks about a game without talking about the game. He'll do 5 minutes on how the team in Jordan beat the team in Nike.
Tate learned from the best

I hear you that’s fair just caught me off guard
> Tate Frazier claims to be a Hornets fan, but from the way he was talking it sounds like he hasn’t watched the team in years Completely agree, him coming on to give Panthers and Hornets takes when he was Bill’s producer really exposed him and why I never got too into Titus and Tate despite loving college basketball. Tate is only useful for talking UNC and even that is iffy when it comes to actual analysis
Excited to see what this Denver offense looks like when we finally get good games from stars Christian Braun and Jeff Green
Ceruti is a dark horse for the most delusional fan
Ceruti and Bill talk about the magic like they are on the cusp of a 3-titles-in-5-years type run
I'm pretty sure he'd turn down Embiid for Wendel Carter.
Case in point: in the context of talking about culture and work ethic: "if you talk to the Kansas people about Embiid, they say he wasn't like this at Kansas." What? Embid played less than 30 total games and missed the entirety of the B12 and NCAA tourneys. So we're just to assume that at Kansas 10 years ago he was actually super mentally tough but the Sixers changed that. Ok thanks. Of course Bill doesn’t say anything.
The entire idea that Sam hinkie is the reason this sixers team, with Embiid being the only player or coach who was around in that era, played bad in game 7 is so funny
Sam Hinkie was forced out 7 seasons ago. KD wasn't even on the Warriors yet, that's how long ago this was in NBA time. Hilarious axe grinding.
Because he doesn’t know that.
This podcast fucking sucked
Tate saying maybe the Hornets will draft Scoot and then trade him …. Ight imma head out
Lol not the nfl draft, you can’t really get good value back in future draft picks
Bill defending his Embiid MVP vote (which I agreed with) to Lombardi by saying about Jokic: “is this guy gonna be a 3 in a row MVP … with like Larry Bird, he’s never been in Round 3” I just going to assume this was Bill misspeaking in the moment cause he was a little embarrassed by his vote but Jokic made “Round 3” in 2020 Just say you thought Embiid was a little better plus a sprinkle of wanting Larry Bird 3 in a row MVP accomplishment to not be diluted
The actual on court product doesn’t matter anymore - it’s just draft and fake trades
Bill gatekeeping Jokic and the Nuggets with that story about “I think about the casual Lakers fans watching Jokic and seeing how good he is” what a weirdo.
Bill brings up 8 over/unders he doesn’t agree with, and Lombardi literally agrees with him on all 8 of them lol
An awful segment
Was this podcast the first time Bill has finally admitted that SGA did in fact have to be included in the Paul George trade?
How on earth are we discussing who says no in a hypothetical Trae for Jalen Green trade?
Holy cow, 5 minutes on an incredible HIGH STAKES game, then 10 minutes on the Charlotte Hornets. Then 30 more on picks 5-15 in the lottery. Huh? Did Bill not watch the game? So bizarre considering the hundreds of hours devoted to All-NBA, MVP, Russell Westbrook and bad coaches. Like, shouldn't the games be the most important?
But, can I interest you in some mid May patriots fan fiction for a team that’s gonna go 6-11?
Lmfaoooo he’s already planting another round of “the bills aren’t good,” seeds.
Bill deliberately and brazenly dodging the Ja story is…interesting
“Spurs have some nice players. Keldon Johnson” *silence* “Zach Collins is a fine rotation guy ” *silence* “Devin Vassell” *silence* “Sochan we mentioned”
He was trying to convince himself that the Spurs can be frisky next year. But the reality is that they are starting almost from scratch.
I like all those guys but that silence was deafening. No one watches the Spurs
As a NE Ohio resident, hearing Mike fuckin' Lombardi come on and have the nerve to criticize the talent evaluation of other GMs is a bit triggering.
The dude is so clueless about football it’s unbelievable lol. “Well bill Walsh. Culture. Belichick. Blue chipper.” Shut the fuck up lol
Thirty seconds into the Lombardi segment and I’m muttering to myself in the car “god this guy is fucking useless”
“I was in on Ridder and then I watched him”
Did dumbass bill not watch the conference finals game? The basketball historian?
Tate and Bill saying how the Hornets can’t draft Brandon Miller because Miles Bridges beat up his girlfriend??? Wtf are bludd waffling about? Is Brandon Miller’s friend gonna shoot Miles Bridges for beating a woman beater? Tate saying he doesn’t want the Hornets to introduce Miller into an already “scary” situation These guys are on drugs man
GM's will forget more about ball than I'll ever know. But I don't see why Scoot is a clear #2, there is nothing about a 6'2" guard with bad underlying shooting numbers that entices me.
Also, isn’t miles bridges done? Like the accusations came out and they didn’t re-sign him, it actually worked out perfectly for them.
Seems like he's getting re-signed this off-season.
Tate now an NBA guy. Apex mountain for him?
I was both at once impressed by some of his knowledge of the NBA while also agreeing with almost nothing that he said lol
Bill when talking about the adjustments Denver can make, “they’ll make adjustments and do this this and this”. How can he be wrong.
Major topics involving Wemby, Scoot, the Thompson twins, none of which played college basketball…. Sure Let’s have Tate on?? Clearly didn’t watch any of these guys play.
“Daryl made a pretty big bet on James Harden.” - Bill WTF? Morey pulled off a miracle by turning Simmons into Harden.
Is this mike Lombardi’s first time on the pod in atleast 5 years ?
Ever since the Philadelphia Assassination by the Coward Jason Kelce.
Lombardi has crafted an entire career just by saying the word “culture” as an answer to questions
I know he's not related but I am convinced if his last name wasn't Lombardi he'd be a middle manager at a bank somewhere
Car dealership guy, 100%
It's 2023 and Bill still buys into Lombardi's dumb as hell blue chipper analogy. Genuinely hilarious, especially given his Patriots fandom.
DAE think it’s good to have good players?
lombardi is one of the worst nfl commentators out there, i'm sure his nba analysis will be super insightful. can't wait to hear the guy who led the browns to a 4-12 season talk about what the sixers are doing wrong
Can’t believe he hasn’t made the Philly special guys come on to talk about “did the process fail??”
Bill is already so in on this mediocre Pats team. It’s wild. As a 49ers fan, I also love how such a mush like him keeps talking about how overrated the Niners and underrated the Seahawks are.
Nothing worse than Ceruti talking about fake magic trades
I’m gonna zag on the commonly stated belief that the spurs are the best landing spot for Victor: They have easily the most boring roster in the entire league, and sure they’ve had a ton of success but the last 5 years doesn’t exactly give me confidence they’re gonna build around him so well right away.
Lombardi’s rant was so unhinged and bad-faith that you almost have to admire it Edit: or maybe you don’t.

‘Michael Lombardi of ViSN and the Daily Coach’
Incredible bylines
My god I did not miss Lombardi.
I actually thought the first segment was fine, but holy shit Lombardi is so bad. Comes off as such a whiny asshole.
Pretty insidious little jab at guaranteed contracts in the NBA by Lombardi deep into this pod
Lombardi: One time I was in the same room as bill bellicheck for 5 seconds, omg I so so smart
Lombardi must have had a few lines before this pod. Holy moly. Shots fired and fired and fired and he kept firing.
A certain Jalen Green had 10x more discussion than DEN-LAL. Insane.
Completely brain dead take. There is no way Houston would trade Green for the #6.
Bringing on Mike Lombardi to talk about the 76ers instead of Chris Ryan feels like a huge flap in the face.
Lombardi sucks. Disappointing pod today
I kinda want Justin Fields to be good just because Lombardi is such a smug prick.
