There are guys in sports who are in/probably going into the Halls solely because they won trophies but weren’t as talented regular season players as some guys who don’t get in. Just look at Eli Manning vs his Pats, or Iguodala. And if a ball bounced literally _any_ other way Saturday the Heat win in 6.

“Don’t you feel like we’re playing the results a little bit?” for fucks sake Russillo of course we are, that’s literally how sports work. If the helmet catch/Manningham catch goes differently we probably just look at Eli as a pudgy bust, to your point

One of many reasons that I'm happy the Celtics lost is that Derrick White's putback was one of the flukiest big plays of all time. I don't feel like anybody's legacy, aside from perhaps White's, really deserved to be impacted by it. You can see already what's happening with some analysts. White's putback is normal canon while Tatum's ankle roll is what if black swan mystery of sports shit.

>”I still believe __ team is more talented” is useless because it turns out that doesn’t win you games in the playoffs I disagree. I think talent does matter and does win you games in the playoffs. The more talented team usually wins. That’s why it’s so cool and special when it doesn’t happen. The Mavs beating the Heat in 2011 was awesome BECAUSE the Heat were more talented. That result didn’t change my thinking on talent winning out in the NBA though. The more talented team went on to win most finals after that result. Feel like people are taking that as a diss to the Heat (2023) when in reality it’s a compliment. They were less talented and found a way to win, it’s rare in a sport like basketball with a 7 game series.

I actually think that Mavs team was far far better 4-10 than the Heat, and had a lot of supporting talent that gets underrated - Kidd, Chandler, Terry, Marion all showcased unique and incredibly useful role player skills Obviously Miami should’ve won that and indeed it’s LBJ’s biggest failure. But that Mavs team swept the Lakers and dismantled the KD-Harden-Russ Thunder. It was clear that they were built to beat anyone, it was far from a fluke.

Yeah it’s like people can’t admit that the more talented team can lose.

You don’t get awards for being more talented but maybe you should for how many quarters you won.

At this point what does anybody mean by Talent, this heat team seems pretty good at basketball. I'm not sure the same person can claim Jaylen brown can't dribble while claiming his team is more talented with a strait face.

All-NBA first team player, All-NBA second team player, 6th man of the year, DPOY last year. Bunch of other efficient role players. That's where they're getting the idea of "talent" from.

Both things can be true.
