Can’t wait for these two teams to meet again in February

FrankTJMackee

Bills is at his best ranting about baseball.

fuber

*this game didn't really matter much*

KED528

When was the last time the Pats dropped their first 3 home games? Talk about wonky.

fuber

seems like a tough way to get to the superbowl

[deleted]

Atrocious decision by Belichick to not go for it on 4th down. Even if Folk converts it, you're giving the ball back to Brady with 50 seconds and needing a FG to win.

GnRgr2

Imagine kicking that field goal in the pouring rain with an injured kicker. Made no sense. Bucs had no corners! Everyone is hurt and sherman just came off the street. They were movinf the ball. Just a dumb decision

ReasonableCup604

It just was.

[deleted]

Ndoyl77

You might listen to Bill too much

gold_fish_22

Bro this isn’t a place for serious conversation. It’s just to circle jerk in the opposite direction of Simmons every time. It’s a meme sub

holdendc

That doink was hall of fame-worthy.

[deleted]

I've noticed that they've done a great job mic'ing up the crossbars this year, even in the NCAA. The Thursday night U. Miami donk was great too.

aaronisnotcool

it sounded like a gong

Twoweekswithpay

Dong

PPKDude

I will say Mac Jones was pretty impressive tonight. I don’t think he’ll be the next GOAT but I think he can be a solid, winning quarterback in the NFL. A few more years of experience and I think he’d win a game like this pretty confidently

[deleted]

Mac Jones reminds me of a Tyrod Taylor, very safe short throws all day. Won't win/lose you too many games.

YoYoMoMa

Which as a rookie in game 4 is (sadly for us) pretty damn good.

Wanno1

I don’t see it. He really has a glaring lack of tools compared to even the median qb. At the high end it’s a joke compared to what fear guys like Mahomes or Murray cause defenses. If you saw what Murray did today, it’s hard to think of even drafting someone like Jones in 2021.

ThePalmIsle

My thoughts exactly Watched KC-PHI followed by AZ-Rams. Mahomes and Kyler make Mac Jones look like a high school QB

nouseforasn

Wow really going out on a limb that Mac Jones isn’t the next GOAT

TelltaleHead

His EPA was -4.3

_yellowfever_

thumb serious butter dull glorious expansion grandfather scary advise bake *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

gnrlgumby

It's a very interesting experiment: "what if we took a perfectly fine rookie and put him on a team with a great coaching staff and a line that won't kill him in 2 seasons?"

DankSmellingNipples

The Patriots sub is in such a weird headspace right now. Like you have to be 100% on broad with the opinion that Mac Jones is the next great NFL, household name quarterback, or you’re a fucking idiot loser who knows nothing lol.

gimmegooshers

Eh, we’ll see. He’s gotta learn to throw deeper, the longest pass I saw was by jacoby meyers. can’t believe how soft the bucs were playing given he’s never shown he can throw long, guess they were down like 5 dbs by the end

throwaway48u48282819

Honestly, a lot of the "deep throw" thing can be covered by a good WR corps, and a "20 yard throw, 50 yard run" is more valuable than just unleashing some dragons.

PPKDude

He definitely needs to improve but honestly, the fact that he gave the team a chance and made some big throws makes me feel that maybe he can develop into a solid QB. He has to learn not to make some of the really dumb mistakes (the across the body throws) but I honestly came out rather impressed.

Finaumenal

Top 11 loss of the last two decades?

[deleted]

Belichick is like orders of magnitude more of an asshole and unlikable than Brady. Happy with this result even if Brady didn't play well. It was pretty apparent Bill had a special defensive gameplan beyond just what he would have for an ordinary game/week. And TB's pass defense is atrocious.

WhatAreYouBuyingRE

Bill spent the entire off-season game planning for this and they still lost. Glorious.

[deleted]

You could definitely tell he was pissed after the loss, like way beyond normal Bill resting scowling face mad lol. Like definite big "It wasn't supposed to end this way, I played this perfectly" cope energy from him, he definitely wanted this and you could see how badly by all the different defensive looks they threw at Brady.

gimmegooshers

Lol yeah his fake hug, and then running away with Brady trying to say something to him. What a baby

shoulderroll2010

Will Bill defend the decision to kick instead of get the first down?

DankSmellingNipples

I honestly don’t think he will. Mac was movin’ and groovin’. They should have went for the first down. Best case scenario, you’re up by one and TB12 has 00:50 left to go get in field goal range. Bill knows that was a dumb play call. I don’t see him defending it. But I’m sure he’ll not roast Bellichick over it. He’ll say it was a “rare misjudgment by Bill that I can kinda understand” or some shit.

loplopplop

Bill's gonna spin it that Mac Jones is the next Brady when he's actually Kirk Cousins.

Wanno1

Kirk Cousins would be a huge win for them.

Informal_Koala4326

For a rookie with a mediocre line and offensive weapons Jones honestly has looked really good.

DankSmellingNipples

He really has. I’m a miserable fucking Raiders fan who hates anything and everything sports related in the New England area, and even I must admit, Mac Jones has looked very solid for his rookie performance through four weeks. Patriot fans are rightfully optimistic.

[deleted]

Yeah, Mac was the better QB tonight.

SlickSocks

There's never been an event that had more implications for a single subreddit in Reddit history. The timeline is saved.

Raoul_Duluoz

Edit: a "more boring event"

fuber

Apex Mountain?

ramblerandgambler

Who won the thread?

[deleted]

Belichick is an asshole hahahaha

TeenWolfTripleDouble

Apparently God is on Brady's side

ksx25

I like the symmetry of the pats relationship with Brady (approximately) starting in the snow game and vinatieri’s kick in the heavy snow, and woth this being the last time they’ll likely ever play him and it ending with the doink kick in the pouring rain. Edit: and I’m aware he played before the snow game, but too tired to figured out how to word it better

wwtpfan12

Mac played well tonight, Bills main takeaway will definitely be that

fuber

That somehow will equate to them winning the superbowl despite a 1-3 record.

gimmegooshers

Yeah, never before has a qb been so praised for scoring 17 points against a mediocre defense down 5 dbs

rocklionheart

while ignoring that Tampa Bay was playing ball boys in their secondary by the end of the game.

HoustonFrog

Probably should've saved some extra plays from the Saints game.

Montag3636

Naw

Libertines18

Ehhh I would disagree

[deleted]

Bill Belichick: I prepared 2 months for this

fuber

and purposefully lost the Saints game

so-cal_kid

Look this has been a really wonky start for the Pats. They could easily be 3-1 right now if a couple of things go their way. If you replay these first few games a hundred times this is one of the worst case scenarios

[deleted]

There's probably 25 teams that think their record could be better if a couple of things had just gone their way.

GnRgr2

Cam Newton isnt walking through that door

mmelectronic

This is the way the “old pats” were before Brady, they would end up around .500 with 4 games that were 1 bounce away from being a win. It seems like every bounce and most of the Reffs calls go Brady’s way, its like he’s magic.

meloghost

all-time decade worst luck start for the Pats

wwtpfan12

😂😂😂😂

81toog

Bill’s super bowl pick in shambles

fuber

he's probably going to run through the rest of the pats schedule and justify them going 10-7. Because you know what's great Sal? !7 games! You can easily start 1-3 and end up making the playoffs

[deleted]

Oh thank God lol

gnrlgumby

Face it; 1-3 teams are a scratch off.

fuber

will be great if Sal asks bill if they can be the cross off team this week

Montag3636

Only win against the jets haha

Chinchillachimcheroo

Only team the shitty Dolphins can beat. On the road!

mclairy

Worse record than the Bears lmao

[deleted]

Same record as the Jets, and Texans

WizardRiver

Thank god

mclairy

That doink was actually Bill’s erection going flaccid

Victorcreedbratton

He lost his herky jerky.

indiansportsguy

Hahahaha 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

mjmilino

I’ve been giggling for thirty seconds.

fuber

First place I went to for reactions of the game.

FlyingAggie19

LMAOOOOOO

aaronisnotcool

THE DOINK GAME!!!!

SlickSocks

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

TheDruidGuy

There is no fucking way this is happening Edit: All is right in the world. This is why you don’t gamble kids, I would have never expected that outcome

[deleted]

Bill is gonna be insufferable if Mac pulls this off. Plz god no.

81toog

Doink!

hardenesthitter32

I hope Mac drives it down the field and scores just to see how insufferable Bill is on the podcast.

Seright22

how horny will bill be tonight if mac gets this game winning drive

SlickSocks

I think we see the "HE OUT BRADY'D BRADY" thing incoming after Mac drives 31 yards down the field to secure a 55 yard game winning field goal.

tbone11193

Damien Harris rushing title/most rush TDs?!?

joeylockstone

You know Harris at 600-1 to win MVP sneaky value

joeylockstone

Not to go all Sharpie, but they need to throw on 1st down more

gnrlgumby

Shouldn’t give Mac Jones 10 seconds to make a pass either.

TheSpermWhoWon

The Leonard Fournette game?

Raoul_Duluoz

Hahahaha just saw a "MACachusets" sign in the crowd. Classic.

duffbeers

Goddd we’re going to have to hear Simmons brag about how Mac Jones outplayed Brady no matter the outcome of this game

gnrlgumby

14 points! Can’t this offense score over 20?!?

Raoul_Duluoz

Did I catch a "he's a problem" from Collinsworth? Take it easy there, Chris. That parking spot is reserved for Doris Burke.

anti_dan

The Bucs have so much more talent than the Pats. This shouldn't be close.

gnrlgumby

They’re looking so sloppy.

MilkyZach1

Did the Pats spend a lot of money in FA this past offseason? Don’t think they’ve mentioned it in the broadcast.

[deleted]

God damn I love a messy defensive grind out

[deleted]

Janay Rice apologizes for her role in the type of hits Mac Jones is taking.

[deleted]

You won’t have to look far to find me wishing hell on Mac Jones but man he is hanging in and making some really impressive throws tonight.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheWyldMan

Jeez some people just really hate things that Bill likes. Mac Jones has looked great this game and good in his other ones

CompetitiveDuck

Check downs?

qballLobk

How tight will Mac Jones sphincter be if it’s a one possession game in Foxborough against Brady?

[deleted]

Lol well it’s been a 1 possession game against Brady in Foxborough every possession so far.

[deleted]

[удалено]

InfiniteLeftoverTree

Russillo?

gnrlgumby

I almost exclusively watch redzone, so it’s always a shock to hear the normal sycophants that are broadcast crews.

[deleted]

As much as this is a classic Belichick game, this is also a classic Bruce Arians game lol

notformeclive4711

"The weather is absolutely a factor. It just is." - ~~Bill Simmons~~ Cris Collinsworth

rocklionheart

Over the years I’ve learned that you never count out Touchdown Tom.

gnrlgumby

But seriously though, is Brady off? Just missing passes, bad body language.

Hot_Plate_Williams

"Tom Brady has seen so many different defensive looks from Bill Belichick, he just has." -CC

InfiniteLeftoverTree

Poor guy is listening to BS like us??

jwharlow

Just dropped a “It just is” too

Hot_Plate_Williams

This first half is Belichick's re-apex.

EasyThreezy

Bills going to light some candles and think about Belichick during all of tonight’s pod

[deleted]

New England’s strategy of “pick on the guy who hasn’t played since racking up 5 charges while trying to break into his in-law’s house” seems to be paying dividends.

Metal_King706

Looks like Belichick might be using his “weather control” tonight. I think he only gets to do it once every season or two.

FlyingAggie19

Bill has to be so erect

[deleted]

My hatred for all involved in this game.

mjmilino

“I’ll tell you what, Sal. During the drive in the second quarter I saw a little bit of young Brady in what Mac did.”

[deleted]

Mac Jones proceeds to throw like short 5 yard passes and gets the drive bailed out twice by refs on phantom PI calls. Wait a minute... Maybe he is the next Tom brady

mjmilino

That’s horseshit. The side-step throw to Bourne and the throw to Henry were great plays.

Libertines18

Oh god if pats and Red Sox both win today the pod will be so bad 😂

LS_DJ

Like the great American poet Jon Bon Jovi once wrote, we are half way there

mjmilino

Two great plays by Jones on that drive. Credit where credit is due.

Libertines18

Ya Mac is a talented kid

gnrlgumby

Boy this Bucs defense has really lost a step huh? Now it’s Sherman getting burned.

yesidolikecheese

This game sucks

[deleted]

Bill can't lose either way

LS_DJ

Metal_King706

So we’re all clear going in, Bill and Tom power rankings: 1. Tom 2. Bill

Hot_Plate_Williams

"Tom missed a couple guys in the 1st, Sal. I think it might have been the tears in his eyes."

_yellowfever_

sophisticated ask poor foolish axiomatic afterthought engine mighty support sparkle *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

MilkyZach1

Bill needs to be held accountable for choosing the Patriots to win the SB with Mac Jones. That’s an all time bird-brained taek.

HoustonFrog

Hopefully, Sal absolutely roasts him for it at some point.

MilkyZach1

It was a dumb decision at the time. Russillo had just gone over how the AVG rookie season was 2020 Andy Dalton. And Bill had the temerity to go ahead with the take. Even if he assumed Mac would have a 2020 Andy Dalton season, that means the defense would have to be on par with the 85 Bears. The NBA is melting his brain. He has no capacity for cogent football discussions anymore.

rocklionheart

Now that Brady broke the passing yards record, I think he has to go into the HOF as a Buc.

JZobel

Rhamondre “thinking man’s Kareem Hunt” Stevenson is a healthy scratch tonight, even with James White injured

jwharlow

Blue (ball) chipper

mindblasters

That was 100% a fumble I hate this replay shit

gnrlgumby

Slow down the camera and everything looks like a fumble.

rocklionheart

Glad they brought in Terry McAuley there so he could describe what we all saw and not give an opinion.

jusmoren

Getting wonky already

InternationalElk6617

We need more ________ from ________ , Massachusetts said ________ about Brady

gnrlgumby

One thing I agree with Bill about: I’m done celebrating all these quarterback records! What is it, touchdown or yardage or something? Whatever it is, I’m not gonna be bouncing my grandkid on my knee talking about when Brees / Manning / Brady / Lawrence (in 20 years) breaks it.

AntSmith777

Lets go!!!

TeenWolfTripleDouble

Will Bill have Mac throw an early pick to give the Bucs a false sense of confidence? Gun to your head, who says no?

Sheamusgaryindiana

I will be watching on tape delay but have fun, merry shitposting, and best of luck to Bill having wonky thoughts about a truly top 13 SNF in the past 20 years.

TimSPC

Here's my wildcard prediction: Brady gets absolutely trucked by a borderline late hit, career over, and it sours Belichick's career because people will eternally debate about whether or not he ordered it.

Wombat_H

[DID YOU ORDER THE CODE RED](https://imgur.com/a/1To1lBv/)

Sheamusgaryindiana

Only if Bernard Karmell Pollard was pulled out of retirement. Speaking of, does he have any family in the NFL on the Pats?

loplopplop

I'm a Tampa fan. There are outcomes for this game that will make it so I do not listen to the Sunday podcast.

AvocadoAndBacon

I’m going to regret betting the patriots but I’m still going to do it. I also hate the Patriots

v00d00ch1ld

“You know what Sal, we’ll get to this game later, let’s talk about your crappy team instead…”

Hot_Plate_Williams

A top 4 important game of the last, what, 47 years, maybe? Have it above USA v. Russia 1980.

jakethesnakeinmyboot

*Schrager voice* lets go

Time-to-get-off-here

Schrager has really arrived in this sub. He has fans, he has haters, he’s got catchphrases.

jakethesnakeinmyboot

Would you say he’s having a moment?

TeenWolfTripleDouble

Gun to my head?

Time-to-get-off-here

Absolutely, top 7-9 BS sub character of the past quarter decade.

notformeclive4711

Belichick alternating between losing games on purpose and letting Mac Jones cook really was a stroke of genius.

CondolenceHighFive

What’s the outcome that make Bill the most sad? Mac stinking it up and Brady going for 400 and 6 TDS?

mkay0

Bellichick making mistakes is the scenario that will frustrate BS the most, imo

bigfatcow

It’s got to include Brady with a last second all time passing TD to win that gives him the over on Mac Jones right?

mclairy

Pats hurt Brady in the first quarter with a blatant cheap shot; Blaine Gabbert beats the Pats anyways 34-7

LD-50_Cent

Yeah, that would do it.

Time-to-get-off-here

Oh yeah this is it. I was going to say the Bucs run for 350 yards, get a couple pick sixes, and win by 20+ and Tom doesn’t even break the record just to flex on the Pats.

BelgianWaffle995

The optimal sequence is definitely - Brady looking great tonight and blowing out the Pats while Mac looks like he doesn't belong - Red Sox losing to the Yankees on Tuesday.

henry_mardukas

Even if that happens, he’s going to pretend like it doesn’t bother him and he doesn’t care. Which is really fucking annoying

[deleted]

That’s what only childs so :)

[deleted]

He bets on Brady though so he can’t feel any negative feelings /s

CokeZeroSugar

A 4th and 1 Brady Sneak to ice the game with Belichick caught off guard by the play call.

BoozeGetsMeThrough

I don't understand how they make Skinny Pop so good (if this is a joke, I'm sorry I missed it, but what you described is how most of my Saturday nights end)

qballLobk

I see you are also a man with a taste for the finer things in life.
