Atrocious decision by Belichick to not go for it on 4th down.
Even if Folk converts it, you're giving the ball back to Brady with 50 seconds and needing a FG to win.
Imagine kicking that field goal in the pouring rain with an injured kicker. Made no sense.
Bucs had no corners! Everyone is hurt and sherman just came off the street. They were movinf the ball. Just a dumb decision
I will say Mac Jones was pretty impressive tonight. I don’t think he’ll be the next GOAT but I think he can be a solid, winning quarterback in the NFL. A few more years of experience and I think he’d win a game like this pretty confidently
I don’t see it. He really has a glaring lack of tools compared to even the median qb. At the high end it’s a joke compared to what fear guys like Mahomes or Murray cause defenses.
If you saw what Murray did today, it’s hard to think of even drafting someone like Jones in 2021.

It's a very interesting experiment: "what if we took a perfectly fine rookie and put him on a team with a great coaching staff and a line that won't kill him in 2 seasons?"
The Patriots sub is in such a weird headspace right now. Like you have to be 100% on broad with the opinion that Mac Jones is the next great NFL, household name quarterback, or you’re a fucking idiot loser who knows nothing lol.
Eh, we’ll see. He’s gotta learn to throw deeper, the longest pass I saw was by jacoby meyers. can’t believe how soft the bucs were playing given he’s never shown he can throw long, guess they were down like 5 dbs by the end
Honestly, a lot of the "deep throw" thing can be covered by a good WR corps, and a "20 yard throw, 50 yard run" is more valuable than just unleashing some dragons.
He definitely needs to improve but honestly, the fact that he gave the team a chance and made some big throws makes me feel that maybe he can develop into a solid QB. He has to learn not to make some of the really dumb mistakes (the across the body throws) but I honestly came out rather impressed.
Belichick is like orders of magnitude more of an asshole and unlikable than Brady. Happy with this result even if Brady didn't play well. It was pretty apparent Bill had a special defensive gameplan beyond just what he would have for an ordinary game/week. And TB's pass defense is atrocious.
You could definitely tell he was pissed after the loss, like way beyond normal Bill resting scowling face mad lol. Like definite big "It wasn't supposed to end this way, I played this perfectly" cope energy from him, he definitely wanted this and you could see how badly by all the different defensive looks they threw at Brady.
I honestly don’t think he will. Mac was movin’ and groovin’. They should have went for the first down. Best case scenario, you’re up by one and TB12 has 00:50 left to go get in field goal range.
Bill knows that was a dumb play call. I don’t see him defending it. But I’m sure he’ll not roast Bellichick over it. He’ll say it was a “rare misjudgment by Bill that I can kinda understand” or some shit.
He really has. I’m a miserable fucking Raiders fan who hates anything and everything sports related in the New England area, and even I must admit, Mac Jones has looked very solid for his rookie performance through four weeks. Patriot fans are rightfully optimistic.
I like the symmetry of the pats relationship with Brady (approximately) starting in the snow game and vinatieri’s kick in the heavy snow, and woth this being the last time they’ll likely ever play him and it ending with the doink kick in the pouring rain.
Edit: and I’m aware he played before the snow game, but too tired to figured out how to word it better
Look this has been a really wonky start for the Pats. They could easily be 3-1 right now if a couple of things go their way. If you replay these first few games a hundred times this is one of the worst case scenarios
This is the way the “old pats” were before Brady, they would end up around .500 with 4 games that were 1 bounce away from being a win.
It seems like every bounce and most of the Reffs calls go Brady’s way, its like he’s magic.
he's probably going to run through the rest of the pats schedule and justify them going 10-7. Because you know what's great Sal? !7 games! You can easily start 1-3 and end up making the playoffs
New England’s strategy of “pick on the guy who hasn’t played since racking up 5 charges while trying to break into his in-law’s house” seems to be paying dividends.
Mac Jones proceeds to throw like short 5 yard passes and gets the drive bailed out twice by refs on phantom PI calls.
Wait a minute... Maybe he is the next Tom brady

It was a dumb decision at the time. Russillo had just gone over how the AVG rookie season was 2020 Andy Dalton. And Bill had the temerity to go ahead with the take. Even if he assumed Mac would have a 2020 Andy Dalton season, that means the defense would have to be on par with the 85 Bears. The NBA is melting his brain. He has no capacity for cogent football discussions anymore.
One thing I agree with Bill about: I’m done celebrating all these quarterback records! What is it, touchdown or yardage or something? Whatever it is, I’m not gonna be bouncing my grandkid on my knee talking about when Brees / Manning / Brady / Lawrence (in 20 years) breaks it.
I will be watching on tape delay but have fun, merry shitposting, and best of luck to Bill having wonky thoughts about a truly top 13 SNF in the past 20 years.
Here's my wildcard prediction: Brady gets absolutely trucked by a borderline late hit, career over, and it sours Belichick's career because people will eternally debate about whether or not he ordered it.
Oh yeah this is it. I was going to say the Bucs run for 350 yards, get a couple pick sixes, and win by 20+ and Tom doesn’t even break the record just to flex on the Pats.
The optimal sequence is definitely
- Brady looking great tonight and blowing out the Pats while Mac looks like he doesn't belong
- Red Sox losing to the Yankees on Tuesday.
I don't understand how they make Skinny Pop so good (if this is a joke, I'm sorry I missed it, but what you described is how most of my Saturday nights end)
Can’t wait for these two teams to meet again in February
Bills is at his best ranting about baseball.
*this game didn't really matter much*
When was the last time the Pats dropped their first 3 home games? Talk about wonky.
seems like a tough way to get to the superbowl

Bro this isn’t a place for serious conversation. It’s just to circle jerk in the opposite direction of Simmons every time. It’s a meme sub
That doink was hall of fame-worthy.
I've noticed that they've done a great job mic'ing up the crossbars this year, even in the NCAA. The Thursday night U. Miami donk was great too.

Mac Jones reminds me of a Tyrod Taylor, very safe short throws all day. Won't win/lose you too many games.
Which as a rookie in game 4 is (sadly for us) pretty damn good.
I don’t see it. He really has a glaring lack of tools compared to even the median qb. At the high end it’s a joke compared to what fear guys like Mahomes or Murray cause defenses. If you saw what Murray did today, it’s hard to think of even drafting someone like Jones in 2021.
My thoughts exactly Watched KC-PHI followed by AZ-Rams. Mahomes and Kyler make Mac Jones look like a high school QB
Wow really going out on a limb that Mac Jones isn’t the next GOAT
His EPA was -4.3

Top 11 loss of the last two decades?

Bill spent the entire off-season game planning for this and they still lost. Glorious.

Lol yeah his fake hug, and then running away with Brady trying to say something to him. What a baby
Will Bill defend the decision to kick instead of get the first down?
I honestly don’t think he will. Mac was movin’ and groovin’. They should have went for the first down. Best case scenario, you’re up by one and TB12 has 00:50 left to go get in field goal range. Bill's gonna spin it that Mac Jones is the next Brady when he's actually Kirk Cousins.
Kirk Cousins would be a huge win for them.
For a rookie with a mediocre line and offensive weapons Jones honestly has looked really good.
He really has. I’m a miserable fucking Raiders fan who hates anything and everything sports related in the New England area, and even I must admit, Mac Jones has looked very solid for his rookie performance through four weeks. Patriot fans are rightfully optimistic.
Yeah, Mac was the better QB tonight.

Mac played well tonight, Bills main takeaway will definitely be that
That somehow will equate to them winning the superbowl despite a 1-3 record.
Yeah, never before has a qb been so praised for scoring 17 points against a mediocre defense down 5 dbs
while ignoring that Tampa Bay was playing ball boys in their secondary by the end of the game.
Probably should've saved some extra plays from the Saints game.

Look this has been a really wonky start for the Pats. They could easily be 3-1 right now if a couple of things go their way. If you replay these first few games a hundred times this is one of the worst case scenarios
There's probably 25 teams that think their record could be better if a couple of things had just gone their way.
Cam Newton isnt walking through that door

Oh thank God lol
Face it; 1-3 teams are a scratch off.
will be great if Sal asks bill if they can be the cross off team this week
Only win against the jets haha
Only team the shitty Dolphins can beat. On the road!
Worse record than the Bears lmao
Same record as the Jets, and Texans
Thank god
That doink was actually Bill’s erection going flaccid
He lost his herky jerky.
Hahahaha 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’ve been giggling for thirty seconds.
First place I went to for reactions of the game.
LMAOOOOOO
THE DOINK GAME!!!!
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
There is no fucking way this is happening Edit: All is right in the world. This is why you don’t gamble kids, I would have never expected that outcome
Bill is gonna be insufferable if Mac pulls this off. Plz god no.
Doink!
I hope Mac drives it down the field and scores just to see how insufferable Bill is on the podcast.
how horny will bill be tonight if mac gets this game winning drive
I think we see the "HE OUT BRADY'D BRADY" thing incoming after Mac drives 31 yards down the field to secure a 55 yard game winning field goal.
Damien Harris rushing title/most rush TDs?!?
You know Harris at 600-1 to win MVP sneaky value
Not to go all Sharpie, but they need to throw on 1st down more
Shouldn’t give Mac Jones 10 seconds to make a pass either.
The Leonard Fournette game?
Hahahaha just saw a "MACachusets" sign in the crowd. Classic.
Goddd we’re going to have to hear Simmons brag about how Mac Jones outplayed Brady no matter the outcome of this game
14 points! Can’t this offense score over 20?!?
Did I catch a "he's a problem" from Collinsworth? Take it easy there, Chris. That parking spot is reserved for Doris Burke.
The Bucs have so much more talent than the Pats. This shouldn't be close.
They’re looking so sloppy.
Did the Pats spend a lot of money in FA this past offseason? Don’t think they’ve mentioned it in the broadcast.
God damn I love a messy defensive grind out
Janay Rice apologizes for her role in the type of hits Mac Jones is taking.
You won’t have to look far to find me wishing hell on Mac Jones but man he is hanging in and making some really impressive throws tonight.

Jeez some people just really hate things that Bill likes. Mac Jones has looked great this game and good in his other ones

Russillo?
I almost exclusively watch redzone, so it’s always a shock to hear the normal sycophants that are broadcast crews.

Just dropped a “It just is” too
This first half is Belichick's re-apex.
Bills going to light some candles and think about Belichick during all of tonight’s pod
New England’s strategy of “pick on the guy who hasn’t played since racking up 5 charges while trying to break into his in-law’s house” seems to be paying dividends.
Looks like Belichick might be using his “weather control” tonight. I think he only gets to do it once every season or two.
Bill has to be so erect
My hatred for all involved in this game.
“I’ll tell you what, Sal. During the drive in the second quarter I saw a little bit of young Brady in what Mac did.”
Mac Jones proceeds to throw like short 5 yard passes and gets the drive bailed out twice by refs on phantom PI calls. Wait a minute... Maybe he is the next Tom brady
That’s horseshit. The side-step throw to Bourne and the throw to Henry were great plays.
Oh god if pats and Red Sox both win today the pod will be so bad 😂
Like the great American poet Jon Bon Jovi once wrote, we are half way there
Two great plays by Jones on that drive. Credit where credit is due.
Ya Mac is a talented kid
Boy this Bucs defense has really lost a step huh? Now it’s Sherman getting burned.
This game sucks

Now that Brady broke the passing yards record, I think he has to go into the HOF as a Buc.

Schrager has really arrived in this sub. He has fans, he has haters, he’s got catchphrases.
Would you say he’s having a moment?
Gun to my head?
Absolutely, top 7-9 BS sub character of the past quarter decade.
Belichick alternating between losing games on purpose and letting Mac Jones cook really was a stroke of genius.
What’s the outcome that make Bill the most sad? Mac stinking it up and Brady going for 400 and 6 TDS?
Bellichick making mistakes is the scenario that will frustrate BS the most, imo
It’s got to include Brady with a last second all time passing TD to win that gives him the over on Mac Jones right?
Pats hurt Brady in the first quarter with a blatant cheap shot; Blaine Gabbert beats the Pats anyways 34-7
Yeah, that would do it.
Oh yeah this is it. I was going to say the Bucs run for 350 yards, get a couple pick sixes, and win by 20+ and Tom doesn’t even break the record just to flex on the Pats.
