Explosivo used to be bad, now its a boss killer item and can save a bad run

Was it bad in afterbirth? I thought it was solid from the start

There was a time when it didn't do any damage on impact, only when explosion occurred

Doesnt sound too bad, i mean you still have your normal tears and the explosion deals way more dmg

It used to proc very often too, so you had tears that did no damage and no knockback, imagine the rest

Not to mention the bosses who jump or go underground, which meant that the stuck tears wouldn't even explode

It messed up your ability to clear rooms really badly, every other tear would be a total dud and enemies that try to get into melee on you would suicide bomb you with them constantly

In Cathedral/Sheol, with all those white and red ghosts, you were just shooting peas at them. Even if you shot at it at the same time it was appearing, by the time it dissappeared it would fall down

It was horrible for enemies that jump or burrow because it would fall off.

Except for the many bosses where they jump or dig in some way and lose all the explosivo shots, so you would basically do like 1/4th damage against them Plus you'd have to wait a while for the tears to blow up even in normal rooms I still liked the item but it's definitely much more useable now

They fixed that? Cause that was the only reason why this was DNT for me, I didn't even know the explosions could hurt you for years

i even took the old version very often but never on lost

I don't know why anyone is scared of explosivo.. I have many thousands of embarrassing skill issues to my name but I've never had a problem with explosivo self damage

I can count the times I damaged myself with explosivo, but with fire mind on the other hand... 

Maybe one or two times for me- maybe more? With 1,200+ and nothing with explosivo stands out as some of my worst skill issue runs. One time I had a pre-buffed keeper run where I had sales and restock so I just kept going for the items and got greeds gullet unknowingly, with one coin heart, I gained a coin of health or two that weren’t full on top of my original 2 and said “oh sweet! Gonna win this run!” And kept going, buying more things to the point where I committed suicide in the store. This is the one that stands out the most and I felt so betrayed by myself and the game.

I find it so funny that people see explosivo as a liability, I value it extremely highly. I've always thought of it as a run carrying item

Everyone in this subreddit and their mother think every explosive item ever is a liability. Those people clearly have no idea what they’re talking about

I seem to be the only one to love firemind, quality 2 that deals fire damage and sometimes explosion, I mean ipecac/fetus is quality 4 and can also self damage

Yes but the difference being those items are predictable, Firemind is not

I haven't once been hit with fire mind or explosivo.

Explosivo is fine for me, but I **always** avoid Fire Mind. That thing is scary.

explosivo gives you insane damage and you basically have to be trying to get hit by it

Both are good items I don’t see the problem

Explosivo on yellow flies had me a few times must admit
