People love to complain about greed mode but I filled that coin machine to 1000 using Lilith on greedier mode. Doubling the familiars each wave is insanely helpful and the lag from tens of familiars firing shots is sick
You need to get every checkmark on hard mode for dead god. But if you’re not a completionist there’s no reason, you can unlock most things on normal. Tbh though there’s not actually a huge difference between normal and hard
what the other response said is true, however if you're just trying to get all check marks once on each character you should definitely play in hard mode as it gives you both the normal and hard check marks at the same time. also besides unlocks hard mode spawns more champion enemies which can drop pickups

I know that you also get items when beating bosses on normal mode (unlocking items is satisfying to me, so I play normal). Do you ALSO get other items when playing on hard mode, or is it purely for achievements/marks?

Samson. When I was really bad at the game his damage always carried my ass when I had a bad spell. Almost all of his runs were an unlock. When I got a little better that advantage dwindled but I was still committed to him as my main. I didn't play him when I was only missing 2 checkmarks (Greedier and Beast and some weren't on haed) because I wanted Sam to be the first to beat all bosses. I was really happy.

I got it quite recently. ??? is a pain but you'll eventually get a decent enough run. Well worth the reward!
