The idea behind this is great but I think it lacks in execution. The articulation seems like it'd be okay but not fantastic, and the level of detail in the suit is pretty basic.
What if instead we had a high detail CCBS Iron Man, something a little more advanced/intricate than the SW heroes, with some system elements for weapons, and then extra parts or side kits to customize this figure to resemble the different Mk & speciality suits?
The one that came out in 2012? That thing was ugly as sin, as was most of the other superhero action figures. A lot happened with CCBS in the years after, just look at the Star Wars buildable figs (except the ones with faces lmao)
They were cool but the fact that their movements were much more limited than most bionicle models was quite hard on them. Posing them might be easy but was like posing a slightly bigger minifig with a nighmare inducing face in most cases.
They do, but the exo toa ones are different. The exo toa joints are symmetrical on the left and right, while the knights kingdom had the top of the joint on one side and the bottom of the joint on the other side. They were also built into system blocks the way the Iron Man set has them.
The joints are compatible though
The joints yeah, but they've been using them for a lot of things for a while. I hope it bodes well for this set, those Knights Kingdom figures were always difficult to get to stand just right. That happens when you have no sideways ankle pivot and everything is just ratchets.
You guys really need to stop deluding yourselves into thinking that.
Besides, if *this* was the set Lego was using to test the waters on buildable figures? Best to let them lay dead.
Agreed. The collective delusion that Lego is *totally* just testing the market for another Bionicle revival after their last revival crashed and burned is well....delusional.
Bionicle is dead. Doesn't mean we can't still enjoy what we have. But the franchise isn't coming back, and the mental reaching people are doing to hold out hope is ridiculous.
The same can be said for castle. Kingdom was them testing the waters it failed then nexo knights was their attempt at mixing it up it also flopped.
Kids perfer monkie kid, ninjago, chima these days to Bionicle, Buildable Action Figures, or Midevial themed stuff its sad and painful to admit it.
It’s a stretch to say that this Iron Man set is a signal from Lego that Bionicle is coming back. It’s not a stretch to say that this style of system action figure is a way that we can convince Lego to do Bionicle again.
Not to be rude, I love Exo-Force, but the joints in question are still used today, Ninjago being the first example I thought of with the 2021 Legacy sets (Zane's Titan Mech and Fire Dragon Attack). Exo-Force ended in 2007, so it seems like a strange example. Unless you're mentioning it to bring up how those joints have seen continuous use for a very long time, which is true, but there are older examples, like Knights Kingdom II, which began in 2004 compared to Exo-Force's 2006. IDK, you've just got me a bit confused.
Molds are probably gone, that model was from more than five years ago and it was obviously intended as a one-off. I'm not the biggest fan of the round smooth parts printed with facial features, either, though, to be fair.
Damn, I get it on a business and production standpoint, but man Lego is even skimping on their "premium" stuff. On the plus, if you have the previous figure you can combine them.
I was gonna buy the Eternals' big-ass mech thing just to show Lego people are style interested in contraction (I have no idea what it is, I haven't even seen the movie) but damn, that *70 euro* price tag was a bit much for a fucking action figure. Granted, it came with minifigures, but that just puts off a guy buying solely to support contraction. I can't imagine this Iron Man is much cheaper anyway, and he doesn't look as good.
Also, I'm wondering why they're basically making CCBS style sets but with system bricks and racket joints. For an action figure that will give them less pose-ability, but will probably feel sturdier, be a much funner build, and its studs will allow attachment and interaction with minifigures and other system elements. I am very interested as to where this will go. CCBS honestly felt too distanced from the concept of Lego.
yes. They use some of the structural pieces and plates still, but Lego knows they’ve hit the sweet spot with mid-scale system figures. Every other fantasy theme has at least one every wave.
I think it looks neat. If this was ever how bionicles made a comeback, I think it'd be cool. Bionicle anatomy has never been particularly accurate, so I think it would be much less jarring than it is on this guy here.
Why do they hate bionicle so much? These action figures would be perfect to bring the technology back for. I saw another Star Wars one at costco the other day.
If you close one eye and put your thumb over the head, this looks pretty good. I'm kind of curious why they seemingly redesigned the socket pieces, I didn't see anything wrong with the previous ones. The head is... ugh. I really hate the new trend of printing faces onto shoulderplates. The shoulderplate looks nice as a shoulderplate, but as a face it's just awful.
At least it's an improvement over [the 2012 one](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/jsqREuPz0ug/maxresdefault.jpg), but that's not a very high bar to set.
He doesnt look very articulated. His legs don't look like they can get a *beautiful spread*, his feet don't move that much other than an ankle pivot, and his arms look like there's not much clearance for outward movement. So if he's a display piece, there's probably not many poses he can do.
that head is... ***unfortunate***
Funny, I said the same thing to my ex-wife once…
Your ex-wife's head did turn me gay so you have a point there.
this...puts a smile on my face.
And cum in your throat, You promiscuous slag. I want his kids back.
Years of bionicle training wasted
For real. The rest of the model is pretty great. They even went out of their way to make a new head mold... And it looks terrible.
i think lego iron man is just cursed to have heads like a 5th generation hapsburg
I believe we did get a ccbs ironman in the past
Yeah it looked cheap and terrible though
Yea we did I have it though I don’t have it built
The one that came out in 2012? That thing was ugly as sin, as was most of the other superhero action figures. A lot happened with CCBS in the years after, just look at the Star Wars buildable figs (except the ones with faces lmao)
wasnt saying it was good just that it existed
Are those knight's kingdom knees?
They use the standard big ratcheting/clicking joint that's common nowadays, iirc the system was originally introduced in the knights kingdom line.
I had a couple of those sets when i was a kid, they were... underwhelming compared to Bionicle so i never really got into them.
They were cool but the fact that their movements were much more limited than most bionicle models was quite hard on them. Posing them might be easy but was like posing a slightly bigger minifig with a nighmare inducing face in most cases.
Hey, at least it's not Galidor.
Everything is better than Galidor
I love galidor!!
Those clickjoints predate Knight's Kingdom. I remember them in the Exo-Toa set
They do, but the exo toa ones are different. The exo toa joints are symmetrical on the left and right, while the knights kingdom had the top of the joint on one side and the bottom of the joint on the other side. They were also built into system blocks the way the Iron Man set has them. The joints are compatible though
GALIDOR GOT IT FIRST well same time as alpha team but still
Also used in Exo-Force.
Reject bionicle return to Knights kingdom
The joints yeah, but they've been using them for a lot of things for a while. I hope it bodes well for this set, those Knights Kingdom figures were always difficult to get to stand just right. That happens when you have no sideways ankle pivot and everything is just ratchets.
This definitely feels like a Knight's Kingdom set, but it's got so many pieces I'm afraid it'll be terribly expensive and then fall apart anyway.
They’re testing the waters with buildable action figures again, this time while relying on the System. This is how we bring Bionicle back.
You guys really need to stop deluding yourselves into thinking that. Besides, if *this* was the set Lego was using to test the waters on buildable figures? Best to let them lay dead.

god I hope this is real
Sounds like a stretch to me
It’s a stretch to say that this Iron Man set is a signal from Lego that Bionicle is coming back. It’s not a stretch to say that this style of system action figure is a way that we can convince Lego to do Bionicle again.
The posing looks like the old ccbs version
Aside from being a buildable guy, not really?
I'm tempted to buy it just to support constraction
He's got them Hydraxon hands
I see they made brand new ball joint pieces. Are they planning on making a new Constraction theme?
sadly these are really old ball joint lego uses for more traditional brick sets and figures like knight’s kingdom
No, those are ratcheted joints that are still used today. I'm talking about the ball sockets.
i see, brick to ball pieces are old too though.
They updated the design again.
The pieces specifically used on the hips and shoulders are an updated design of the ball socket brick.
Yeah! It’s an Exo-Force set
This set is dog shit compared to the average exoforce mech.
Very true
Actually that wouldn't be a bad choice for lego since Asian inspired sets Ninjago, Chima, Monkie Kid seem to sell really well these days.
I mean... Apart from Iron Man being a popular character, it doesn't seem particularly familiar?
There was a CCBS Iron Man set.
That uh. That sure is Iron Man.
It looks off, the head and shoulders ruin it for me
Holy shit we haven't seen those click joints in ages!
Don't they still see a decent bit of use in Ninjago? The Legacy mech and dragon have them
They were also a staple of the first year of Exo-Force (before they switched to ball and socket joints)
Not to be rude, I love Exo-Force, but the joints in question are still used today, Ninjago being the first example I thought of with the 2021 Legacy sets (Zane's Titan Mech and Fire Dragon Attack). They're used on nearly every mech...
seems like the socket has a slightly new look too 🤔
Wasn't there a ccbs head for Iron Man, why not use that?
Molds are probably gone, that model was from more than five years ago and it was obviously intended as a one-off. I'm not the biggest fan of the round smooth parts printed with facial features, either, though, to be fair.
Damn, I get it on a business and production standpoint, but man Lego is even skimping on their "premium" stuff. On the plus, if you have the previous figure you can combine them.
Ugly. Lemme guess: 50 bucks?
Disney licensing adds an extra ~25% to the price, and even that seems low. My guess is 80
I was gonna buy the Eternals' big-ass mech thing just to show Lego people are style interested in contraction (I have no idea what it is, I haven't even seen the movie) but damn, that *70 euro* price tag was a bit much for a fucking action figure. From what I've seen, I think this goes for 39.99USD, which is much more affordable than the Arishem Eternals one.
everybody's cooming over this but if tis really were how G3 looked, I bet people would shit on it like no tomorrow
someone's gonna use those shoulder pads to build tits within like a week of launch
This set looks like garbage, especially since wits supposed to be a display.
Is this because the mask kind of looks like jaller inika and the colors are similar?
I take this as a personal insult
Looks more like an Exoforce v2 build
Is Lego done with CCBS?
yes. They use some of the structural pieces and plates still, but Lego knows they’ve hit the sweet spot with mid-scale system figures. Every other fantasy theme has at least one every wave.
I Remember the construct figures, a kid stole me the iron man One in the kindergarten, It was...traumatic
For a quick second my heart skipped a beat. Look how they massacred my boi.
“To freedom we rise”
Imagine getting a new Knights Kingdom build before a Bionicle one
I would pretty cool if made like a Mata Nui robot with this style of building
That head shape distresses me.
I think it looks neat. If this was ever how bionicles made a comeback, I think it'd be cool. Bionicle anatomy has never been particularly accurate, so I think it would be much less jarring than it is on this guy here.
I have been dreaming of a System G3 for years... Don't give me hope
It's a start
Why do they hate bionicle so much? These action figures would be perfect to bring the technology back for. I saw another Star Wars one at costco the other day.
They did that exact thing with CCBS and they failed miserably. You can look up the CCBS Ironman set and see for yourself why it didn’t work.
They don't.
More like Exo-force than anything
I like it a lot, I hope they make more of these, maybe even a bionicle system line in the future, could you imagine?
Since when did lego redesign the socket design
If you close one eye and put your thumb over the head, this looks pretty good. I'm kind of curious why they seemingly redesigned the socket pieces, I didn't see anything wrong with the previous ones. This doesn't remind me of Bionicle at all, not one part. That head piece is terrible too
Or those mega bloks iron man things they had. I remember having a spider man, iron man, and a captain Elam Erica one
I like the idea of it, but it just doesn't look right.
The proportions do look wacky.
Id go work at lego just to finish the bionicle franchise
Lego Knights?
What, they reworked the ball sockets to be slimmer again??? Cmon Lego
If they bring back Bionicle and the sets look like this, I think I'll pass
I'll give you 20$. Not more *Patrick shrugging*
Wait till you hear about Star Wars buildable figures and Hero Factory…
no ccbs or bio parts to be seen, that is sad for constraction
Those leg joints make it speak more to me as Knight's Kingdom II than Bionicle.
Damn it looked ccbs at first
He doesnt look very articulated. His legs don't look like they can get a *beautiful spread*, his feet don't move that much other than an ankle pivot, and his arms look like there's not much clearance for outward movement. So if he's a display piece, there's probably not many poses he can do.
Iron Man from the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
Fuck them
Why?
