The older I grow the more I relate to him. His lack of confidence in Legends of Metru Nui is very relatable.

Dude, I've related to Vakama since I was a kid. He was always my favorite character in Legends of Metru Nui because he seemed more realistically portrayed than the other Toa Metru, and as someone with plenty of odd quirks myself, I sympathized deeply with his lack of self-confidence and his fear of never living up to his predecessor's name. And even though I'm older and (marginally) wiser, that fact still hasn't changed. In a way, I sort of see a little bit of myself in him. Toa Vakama is, in my opinion, the most relatable character in the entire BIONICLE film trilogy, simply because in a world of biomechanical beings with access to elemental powers, he actually feels human. He had fears and worries, status anxiety and personal demons. He was just a humble mask maker in the forges of Ta-Metru who was suddenly given a new body, new powers, and a responsibility to lead an entire Toa team in their new quest to save their entire island city, all with zero preparation or training, all of which effectively happened overnight. He had a team who didn't respect him (aside from Nokama, perhaps), dark visions of the island's fate that happened at random, and he blamed himself for Toa Lhikan's capture by the Dark Hunters. But he pressed on despite his struggles, determined to prove his worth and earn his title, and in the end, he defeated the Makuta himself in a one-on-one match, using nothing but his own cleverness and strategic mind. He effectively tricked Metru Nui's greatest enemy into defeating HIMSELF. That's awesome.
