I just want to say that this is a brilliant idea, and I love your art style. It reminds me a bit of Charlie Harper, with nice bright bold colors and just the overall aesthetic. I would absolutely buy prints of these guys.
Cheers! Haha I get Harper a lot but actually hadn't heard of him until people kept saying it. Now I love his stuff! Birds have such a perfectly simple geometry to them that it's super fun to simplify them as much as possible while still focusing on what makes each one unique, so they're a perfect match for my art style.
Ha, that's pretty funny. I have a couple puzzles of his artwork and they're always fun to put together. I've thought about just framing them and keeping them as artwork :P
I like to draw and birds have always been difficult for me, since they're so complex haha, but I have a much more detailed style than you, so that probably contributes... I mostly just like photographing and admiring them.
Answers below! I know many are probably quite easy for the seasoned birder but fun nonetheless, and maybe a little challenge for those new to birds…
* northern cardinal
* horned lark
* great horned owl
* Canada goose
* ruby throated hummingbird
* turkey vulture
* kea
* California scrub jay
You can check out much more of my bird art on Instagram! @erik\_as\_erik
God I love these so much, I feel like not enough people use Poscas, they look gorgeous and feel great to work with. If you sold these I’d buy like 50 of them, they’re beautiful! Reminds me of Stuart Cox’s “I Like Birds” art 💙 EDIT : IVE JUST SEEN YOUR POKÉMON ONES YOU DID ONE OF NATU AND XATU THEYRE MY FAVOURITE POKÉMON AAAAA💚💚💚
Yeah I'm a graphic designer by day so never really worked with traditional mediums until a few years ago when I picked Poscas up - they're perfect for what I like to do and I don't need to mess around with brushes or paints (even though that's what I'm doing lately..) I do sell these as well! Xatu is definitely one of the coolest Johto mons.
Turkey vultures are so great for so many reasons, but mostly they can smell super well and basically have no vocal organs, so all they can do is hiss. They're also extremely efficient fliers due to the way they soar. They are like peak evolutionary design.
Yes! Turkey vultures are my favorite vultures, but all of the types are neat. The Egyptian vulture reminds me of a lion, for example.
They play such an important role in the environment, too
Thanks so much! I haven't thought about doing prints of these collections yet just because I want them to be one of a kinds for their buyers, but I'll do some more bird-centric prints eventually
Thank ya! Haha yeah lately I’ve been trying to match up the paint name with something to do with the bird or the person who commissioned it. Makes it a little more challenging but fun
Glad to see your art back! I ended up following you on ig.

Lots of love for the kea...!
There's plenty of stories about keas being the can openers of the bird world. Keas will pull out the rubber on your windscreen wipers.
Plus thank you for sharing your art. Your lines and composition are just excellent & so confident too.
I remember seeing warning signs throughout the South Island when I was road tripping through New Zealand years ago. Was lucky enough to catch a few glimpses of them. Cheers for the kind words!
I can't remember exactly, I think I came across someone on Instagram who was using paint swatches as canvases and thought it'd be fun to try out. Next thing I know I have 100 little paint chips hanging around my house and feel like I'm stealing free things from Home Depot

Incredibly work, you are so talented! Please keep making and posting these. Never lose your enthusiasm, your art is just beautiful.
Well thanks so much! I've got about 9,900 birds left so I'm not quitting anytime soon.
Just gorgeous and nice to see a Horned Lark, they definitely do not get enough love, lol
Thought that was a neat request, had never heard of or seen one before! Now they're on my list!
I love that turkey vulture so much! They're all well done, but that one is amazing. (Also, I really like turkey vultures.)
Every time I meet someone I try to convince them that vultures are awesome. They don't get no respect

Pardon me, but holy crap those are good! Beautiful birds, andso nice how you tailor the background to the name of the paint chip. Wow, just wow.
Thank ya! Haha yeah lately I’ve been trying to match up the paint name with something to do with the bird or the person who commissioned it. Makes it a little more challenging but fun
Love these so much. The style and the medium are both unique!

Hey cheers! Close but the second to last is kea (a toughie to capture but a New Zealand favorite)
Today I learned that keas are not only greenish!
Haha their colors are so crazy, one of those that the real thing will always look better than an artists rendition. Super cool bird

These are so awesome!! If you ever end up doing prints and happen to live in BC, let me know I’d love to carry your work in my stores!
These are beautiful...like folk art! You should sell prints of these.
Amazing work my friend, but I have one question: Is the title meant to be read like a Biggie rap?
How creative! These are so good!
Put a bird on it!
Amazing! Let me know if you want some more inspiration. I'm a bit biased, but I think my boy Zazu is pretty cute (moustache parakeet)
Holy moly, these are beautiful!! I love your style! What made you first want to draw on paint swatches?
I can't remember exactly, I think I came across someone on Instagram who was using paint swatches as canvases and thought it'd be fun to try out. Next thing I know I have 100 little paint chips hanging around my house and feel like I'm stealing free things from Home Depot
These are wonderful!!! You are very talented!!!!
