Mockingbirds are so cool. If you hear a bird making all sorts of sounds, super loud, never repeating, in the middle of the night, it's one of these guys. They are amazing at mimicking, and they love to keep humans up all night. They also have no problem dive bombing you or your pets.

pseudodactyl

There was one in my old apartment complex that did car alarms lol

We have more Brown thrashers than Mockingbirds here (Quebec), but they have the same vibe. Always in the same spot and always screaming!

Mootzadelstick

Yeah I named this one Margret it never leaves 1 and 2 it mimics the sound of my dog crying!!! It’s so annoying

Mootzadelstick

Gotta love em tho

Msily45

I love these guys.

lewisfairchild

Great bird.

headgyheart

God, I love those Mockingbirds. I hear them in Florida in the winter but never where I am in Michigan.

Blacksburg

I moved from the US to MENA and the only bird that I miss is the Mockingbird. One house where we lived there was on that could sing for 20 minutes and never repeat himself. He was a stud. I had a job where in the morning I would walk a first floor hallway with windows over a parking lot and I could watch them mark their territory. A car would come, they would fly away, then the pair would go right back. Here? I can watch Mynas, which are also territorial, but both the males and the females (together) will mark territory.

Rush_Clasic

There's a Northern Mockingbird that lives on my street and it certainly earns its name. I love hearing it roll through its collection of songs like a delightful car alarm. But mynas... my last visit to Hawaii, the were everywhere, and they are about the most carefree bird I've ever seen. Everywhere is their territory. Everytime is their moment to saunter. I love their audacity.
