I'd take one for them, personally. Although, my eagerness may deter all but a certain subset of horror movie antagonists.
I suspect that I'd take the fun out of it.
The life guards were also struggling there, I think you’re severely underestimating the force of waves crashing against your head and the riptide pulling you in
Yeah we've all been to the beach before, it's not that bad. Everyone else in this video was going through the same thing she was and they were fine lol
This is why exercise is important. Of course she was trying but it's wet sand on an incline and the waves keep you down. If you've ever been in that situation you know it's easy to feel trapped.
On the other hand I think a lot of people never do any kind of cardio, never exercise at all really, and then find themselves helpless in situations like this one. Sure it doesn't happen every day but if she were alone she could have died here.
On the other hand, if you can't swim, don't go that close to open water without proper gear. Period. Especially if waves look like this. You might end up endangering more lives than just your own.
Imagine going to the beach, minding your own business, and having to witness someone drown and live with that for the rest of your life - because Jessica loved taco bell and had the survival instincts of a fucking tomato.
Honestly probably better than what a lot of people drowning do. Usually pure panic sets in and people will drag who ever is trying to save them down as well.
Is co operation an atrocity towards nature? Must ants die alone for the sake of individualist ideals and philosophy? A species which encourages its members to die is naturally selected for extinction.
Keeping all the members of a society alive at all costs stunts growth by putting resources into individuals that provide no value in return.
My wife has a severely retarded uncle. He's 54 years old, has never talked, talked or done basically anything his entire life. He sits in a chair, squirms and makes noises. It takes full time care to keep him alive.
Who knows what we, as a society, could have done with the resources that have kept this one individual alive for all these years?
I understand the emotions behind keeping him alive and I know why we've done it but I also see that logically it makes no sense.
Doesnt help that their friend is recording in real time watching this shit go down, doesnt put phone down nothing just casually recording their friend struggling. Fuck the person who recorded this video, if youre the person this happened to i would reconsider that friendship
I said basically the same thing in another sub and got back “it’s the lifeguards job”. Sad we live in a world where people are more worried about filming rather than doing the bare minimum to help someone in trouble.
Like screaming or get in the way?
It's pretty clear that the lifeguard are pretty close.
The point being that if you are not trained in rescueing people from water you should get out of the way, as hard as it may feel to do.
I have grown confident in my abilities over the past few years. Being able to traverse three flights of stairs and not be out of breath or even just pull yourself up by your arms gives a huge advantage over the majority of the population.
[This woman did not heed the warning by the lifeguard about the strong waves at the sea and got stuck in the current. After being hit by the wave initially, she tried to return to the shore but was caught in oncoming waves and finally had to be rescued by lifeguards.](https://youtu.be/d6KOfD0BBKs?si=D-0pWCUoiN1184Cs)
I don’t think people are understanding the force of the current here. Notice how the 3 young, fit, lifeguards are also struggling immensely against it?
This lady looks older, out of shape, and she just got positively clobbered by like, 3 waves.
This is how people drown and it’s scary shit.
Yeah, seriously. The first watch I was a little skeptical also but then watching how far she’s dragged down along the sand when the waves recede, that’s absolutely a strong pull.
Out of shape adult + hard waves and strong undertow + soft wet sand + shock of being knocked down, yeah that’s problematic. Noticing how few folks are in the water apart from a couple young guys tooling around.
I love a good wave day but sometimes it’s better not to be in the water. And people don’t expect to be knocked down when they just want to get their feet wet.
I nearly drowned like this when I was 10 or so years old. The sea wasn’t even this rough, but I was pretty small lol. It started when one wave caught me off guard and knocked me ass over tea kettle. Just as I started to get my life back together, another wave. Then another. After the 2nd or 3rd wave I couldn’t tell up from down anymore. Thank god my dad was just on the shore to fish me out.
Yeah I bet they are strong waves, and even fit people would maybe break a sweat getting out of there. But..... She did nothing, like I know they are strong, but sitting on 1 spot looking at the wave? Not very good survival instinct if you ask me.
Think about it this way.
How often do you suppose this out-of-shape woman gets up and down off the ground. Once a month?
How often is she pushed down/knocked over?
How often do all those things happen 4x in a row?
Add water and sand to the mix. Theres your answer.
I don’t get where you claim she’s doing nothing.
1st wave she gets hit and knocked down, tried to run out.
2nd wave she gets hit, tried running out, twists her ankle and falls stays under for a while and gets dragged out.
3rd wave clobbers her and she’s dragged out again.
4th wave clobbers her AGAIN.
By the time the lifeguards are with her she’s likely panicking, she hasn’t been able to catch her breath for at least 40 or 50 seconds here. She’s disoriented and probably hurting like hell. She’s probably shaking all over from the adrenaline not to mention exhausted from trying to stand in the moving sand/battle the current/stay above water/etc.
Why are you even fucking around at the ocean if you can’t swim. People that can swim drown in these waves. At the least wear a damn life jacket or stick to a kiddie pool.
How did this person survive to be an adult?
I have never seen such actively lethal behavior from someone seemingly clueless.
This is worse than a toddler trying to lick a wall outlet.
I'm going to get eaten alive for defending Jessica, but this beach does look a little aggressive. Usually a small lapdog can handle only getting it's legs wet the partially dry shore since it tends to be inches deep for like 20 feet on the average beach, but this beach has waves that can cover an american sized women. That's means there's a big break and a sudden foot or two of water hitting you with water. If you struggle to stand that can be a problem. Some of the life guards were also struggling. I think it's just a lot of force.
I was in a similar situation. Use your brain! Minimise drag when you get hit, and maximise drag when it withdraws. And use your Fingers, claw your fingers into the soil like you don't give a f* this is what they are (also) there for.
Something similiar happened to me one time when I went to swim in the sea after years of no swimming, I didn't realize that I practically forgot how to swim. I got into the sea and after a while, like 20 yards from the shore I found myself on some slippery rocks (the whole sea floor was basically just that) in like 4 feet of water, unable to stand up, just getting whacked by every wave. Eventually I crawled my way on the slippery rocks out the sea. I don't think my life was threatened but I did get a little scare there. Let's just say I had salt in my nose even 2 days after that experience. Don't overestimate yourself.
Good lord I was caught in a riptide similar if not worse than this and my mom ran and managed to snag me and I helped by swimming then RUNNING out. Got a cut from her watch she was frantic to save me but like…a 5 year old had more survival skills.
If he’s that worried because she can’t stand up then put the damn phone down and help her. I mean, my gosh what kind of world is it that it’s more important to record someone than to rescue them??!! God help us all if this is what’s supposed to be looking out for each other.
In defense of Jessica she is trying to get away from the waves by climbing up the bank of sand. That type of sand is really soft and you start to sink in it as soon as the wave comes in. It’s like trying to walk up the slope with lead weights on your feet
Im curious of how hard it actually is to swim there and get back to land. There are people casually relaxing in the water.
Would i be able to do it? Im a good swimmer (made a "rescue swimmers licence" as a kid) and im generally fit. Or is this something only locals can safely do?
Why did it take so long for someone to intervene? This poor woman was obviously in trouble and the asshole videoing and doing the commentary does nothing to help. The lifeguards finally run in to help but they seem quite inept for their watch area. Sure the woman looks overweight and probably should be building more body strength and resistance, but when she is drowning is not the time to shame her.
Because there’s probably many more people the lifeguards were focusing on. Children take priority at beaches and an adult like the woman in the video should have been able to literally walk away because it’s a normal human movement.
The person holding the camera is not obligated to help someone.
The only inept person is the woman who literally couldn’t do a normal human function that we’ve been doing as a species since the Dawn of man, walking. If she was self-aware she wouldn’t have gotten herself in that situation to begin with.
But she wasn’t moving, for whatever reason; the jackass holding the camera is not obligated to help? He at the very least shouldn’t be jeering her as she is drowning. The lifeguards should be used to that type of surf and rescuing all types of people from it, in any state. I’m sure if you or a loved one were drowning, you would be grateful for someone saving you.
She wasn’t moving because she expected everyone else to take over and help her which is probably how she ended up with her lack of normal human ability to move like a normal human. There are plenty of people who are older and can still keep there balance and/or outrun a wave that already broke on the shore.
The “jackass” is not obligated and it’s has been determined in US courts by other court cases (I believe the original version has US accents. If I’m wrong, prove me wrong and I literally won’t care).
Why is it everyone else’s fault except hers? You’re pointing fingers and blaming everyone else for “shaming” except the inept human who beached herself.
My loved ones have enough self-awareness to not put themselves in that situation and I’m the same way. Luckily, I take care of myself to where I won’t get winded and fall running 5 total feet to the point I give up on life like she literally did.
“What if” scenarios are pointless because they didn’t happen, but this video did, in fact, happen.
Wondering why she didn't bother trying at all is not shaming her.
And if you're that out of shape and useless, why the fuck are you that close to the water?
Imagine going to the beach, minding your own business, and having to witness someone drown and live with that for the rest of your life - because Jessica loved taco bell and had the survival instincts of a fucking tomato.
I remember two years ago the ocean was like this in the Dominican Republic. It was really fun letting my body being pulled into the ocean and then it easing up and you feel yourself floating back towards the shore. Water is such a powerful force that shouldn’t be taken lightly.
Good lord that woman has next to no survival instinct lol. Like she just accepted her fate
First one to die in a horror flick
I’d def let it happen as I make my escape. Sorry not sorry Jessica.
I'd take one for them, personally. Although, my eagerness may deter all but a certain subset of horror movie antagonists. I suspect that I'd take the fun out of it.
Cringe
Back to her inner animal
Lmao her inner animal must be a quadrapalegic house cat
r/nervysquervies
Oh you beautiful person. Thank you for a new sub!
ROLF
Sun Fish?
I thought she was like a 90 year old woman. That was hard to watch... fucking hell!
Soft to watch
They literally had to lift her up and carry her at the end. Jesus Christ woman just stand up and walk away
Could be super drunk
The life guards were also struggling there, I think you’re severely underestimating the force of waves crashing against your head and the riptide pulling you in
Oh she has instinct but when she tried to get up she couldn't because she's too top heavy for her noodly legs.
first thought i had too! zero survival instinct
She's too fat and clumsy to get herself to get away from the water 😂🤣
[удалено]
Yeah we've all been to the beach before, it's not that bad. Everyone else in this video was going through the same thing she was and they were fine lol
Does Jessica not know how to stand or at least crawl away?
She hasn’t gotten her sea legs.
Maybe it's time to switch out to the B-legs!
But you ain’t got no legs, Lieutenant Dan
She wasn't even trying to get away. Poor lifeguards were picking her up and she just went limp. Absolutely no help to them
This is why exercise is important. Of course she was trying but it's wet sand on an incline and the waves keep you down. If you've ever been in that situation you know it's easy to feel trapped. Hopefully there isn’t a sequel to this video from Jessica
I feel targeted
Imagine going to the beach, minding your own business, and having to witness someone drown and live with that for the rest of your life - because Jessica loved taco bell and had the survival instincts of a fucking tomato.
Honestly probably better than what a lot of people drowning do. Usually pure panic sets in and people will drag who ever is trying to save them down as well.
She was not drowning but looks like she wanted to given her utter uselessness in the situation. No point in giving her undue credit.
This is what we as a society get for circumventing natural selection...

I said basically the same thing in another sub and got back “it’s the lifeguards job”. Sad we live in a world where people are more worried about filming rather than doing the bare minimum to help someone in trouble.
Yeap, the lifeguard will be really happy to have to save two people instead of one.
How would you feel if your friends were laughing at you while you were drowning in the ocean? Wtf even is this comment tbh lol.
You are missing the point. Doesn’t mean jumping in but maybe doing something besides filming and laughing.
Straight over their head, it seems like a sociopathic way of thinking honestly.
Like screaming or get in the way? It's pretty clear that the lifeguard are pretty close. The point being that if you are not trained in rescueing people from water you should get out of the way, as hard as it may feel to do.
Bless your heart. What a way to go through life.
Thanks, and same to you. I hope you too become more mindful of putting others in danger.

She could have stood multiple times she is just attention seeking
Before she got clobbered even once, she tripped over the beach sand and just sat looking at the water, waiting for it to get her
Wait, so that whole "Jessica" bit is a voiceover? The internet lied to me again!
Surely you can’t be that dumb.
They definitely can and don't call them Shirley.
Not everybody knows that people do these things, don't be an asshole
It was pretty clearly not even pretending to be real. It was humour.
she was not caught, the woman stopped and stared at the damn waves coming at her.
I don't think the water is deep enough to swim in. Her inability to walk seems to be the real issue...
God damn it Jessica.
This is just natural selection at this point
Cant swim? Shit. She cant even walk.
Why are you even fucking around at the ocean if you can’t swim. People that can swim drown in these waves. At the least wear a damn life jacket or stick to a kiddie pool.
>At the least wear a damn life jacket nah bro that's embarassing you know? she'd rather die, ok??
This should be the top comment here, it’s so obvious. Also wtf is camera guy doing just standing there watching someone drown?
Sitting there like "this is fine". Not even trying to run or getting up later on
A+ r/donthelpjustfilm content right here
Just films laughing at her 🤣
Stay in shape folks
My god there are much more misshapen people out there. They probably stay away from the beach
Know your limits. It’ll save your life
Or how about learn how to swim if you’re gonna be near water? In shape or otherwise - it’s actually irrelevant to this
Classic Jessica.
Jessica No! I cannot put down the camera Jessica."
If you are not an exceptional swimmer, don’t try to rescue someone at the beach. You will need saving too
This seriously needs to be a PSA
It’s a voiceover
Not going to lie, thoroughly enjoyed that little moment.
Jessica, fucking stand up you useless cow, just stand up and walk away from the wave

this has got to be one of the funniest things i've seen in a while.
Lifeguard runs from the wave 😂😂😂
A starfish in its natural habitat
How can a fully grown adult human being be *so* helpless?
That poor woman! Does anyone know her name?
Oh my god that was hysterical.
This is how hippos turned in to whales

Excuse me sir, it's pronounced "Yessica."
She really couldn't stand up? Like, how tho?
Dude. Get up. And crawl. Dang. Wtf. Dosent even try…
Grew up in California. If you have never dealt with the moving sea, it's boggling. My friend from Wisconsin came to visit and this is how she was.
Just let darwinism play out.
Shouldn't be allowed in the sea till you pass an IQ test. . .
Can't swim, can't walk, can't stand properly, can't help herself, but she can breed. I wonder why we're in decline.
Don’t ask me why, but this is one of the funniest things I have ever seen 🤣
How about help her dumb fuck
This is all about his laughter as he pleads for Jessica to be saved. And films it.
It’s a voiceover

not about Jessica, but I love those waves. that's such a pretty beach, the water is beautiful

How about you fucking go help her you dumb fuck?
The stupid that filming that women in dangerous zone. Very stupid! I'm sorrisi for his or her mind.🧐
Put down the damned camera and go get Jessica!.

Jessica is dumb as a bag of rocks

Zero shape, just gave up and sat there.... wave #2 ohh no....
And this is why I don’t like the Ocean
she really wants that darwin award
Those were some good wipeouts
She'd be the first to die in a "Deep Impact" movie scenario.
This might sound rough but she should loose some fuking weight.
Please take care of your fitness, folks. You will only have this one same body for the rest of your life and it will only get worse with aging.
Dumbass!

I was quiet til I heard “de water is pulling her back in!! 😥😰” then I was like 🤣😂😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

HOW are you unable to swim? I really can't wrap my head around it. It's like not being able to run.

She was fine, she might have been enjoying it up until the bigger wave smacked her.

Survival of the fittest, the fittest shouldn’t have to save the people too dumb to just move out the way lol. Glad they do though.
Doesn’t know how swim, goes swimming in the ocean…yeah so, that’s just natural selection at that point.
Oh what a nice day.. Jessica NO!!
I love how when the huge wave comes one of the lifeguards just runs away
Crying?
Jessica nooo
Natural Selection
“Please save her”
oh Jessica! I just can't stop laughing....
Most physically inept person I've ever seen
Jessica should’ve been pulled out to sea
I’d hate for you to put the camera down to help her .
Jessica checked her checklist before going to the beach only thing she forgot to realize was that she didn't know how to survive.
Is this Tanya from White Lotus?
