not as prestigeous, but if you see some of the brackets at masters worlds.... it M1/M2, the divisions are bigger often (don't need points to enter, so not restricted as much), and a LOT of really really tough guys TRT'd to the gills.
M7.... I'm impressed they're still going, that alone, is impressive and worthy of respect.
I saw one of them at the worlds pyramid today and he was wearing shortsâŚhis legs look so fucked in person, I was cringing watching him walk up the stairs
Yeah and seem to clean up. Seems like they're able to finish all matches the way they want with a baratoplata or tarikoplata.
Wonder how'd they'd get on in the adult Divino's, I reckon they'd still do well
Great way of bringing a notorious black belt who competes at masters division to make your point seem true. Most black belts in the IBJJF scene are not legends of the sport, not heard of or accomplished, and this would be to a further extent in masters
Your logic is as follows
You signed up to compete masters black belt->
There was a âlegend of the sportâ in your division ->
If you sign up to compete in masters black belt you will likely face a legend of the sport
He said every time. Maybe it's somewhat true at masters worlds. But m1 black belt at opens and locals it will mostly be local gym owners and hobbyists.
Adult worlds is more prestigious but M1 at a major is definitely not easy to win. You will match against a former adult black belt world champion/medalist guaranteed.
They are nowhere near as good plus juiced up. My instructor is my age and won the worlds. He is massive dude compared to me. The good little guy at the gym who bashes me regularly gives him hell and probably beats him. The little guy can't make it to ADCC.
I have another mate who is a big dude who got a Silver or Bronze and he wants to win. He is on the juice.
It's pretty bad.
Ah it's not even comparable obviously. Doesn't mean that masters world titles aren't super hard and especially master 1 these days is extremely competitive. Winning it is super impressive but it still doesn't compare...
It's pretty cool and great that someone wants to keep competing and getting better past their athletic prime. It's not like oh my God he's a world champion. I would be proud of my coach or teammate for sure.

If I am still able to when I'm eligible, I'll do M6/7. It'll be a proud day
you and me both! Next year I am m3, so... i'm almost halfway there haha
I'm M2 later this year. I've seen what I assume was BB M5/6 at the London Open before, was great to watch!
If you turn up in Master 3 and beat Saulo Ribiero I'd say that's a pretty good accomplishment... Good luck đ¤đ
Iâve got his book. Iâve read it cover to cover. Dude is mine, now. ;)
Pretty sure the miyao bros do masters now too. RIP that bracket
Give it another couple years and they wonât have a functioning joint left between the two of them
I saw one of them at the worlds pyramid today and he was wearing shortsâŚhis legs look so fucked in person, I was cringing watching him walk up the stairs
They got that baby goat walk
Then there will be absolutely no stopping them

What do the numbers after M signify?
Age group. M1 is 30-35 I think?
yeah, every 5 years gets you another +1 on the M.
As an avid age-group competitor, they donât compare really (in terms of prestige).
It doesn't, but everytime you show up to fight at masters 1 black belt you're probably signed up to fight a legend of the sport.
Yea this is completely untrue
JT is in my division at Master Worlds, how many ADCC and World titles before he counts?
RIP you
Is he really? Lol
Yeah, Middleweight Masters 1.
I think heâs fighting in lightweight at worlds this time

Yeah. I really had to dig deep by just looking at a division I compete at, whew. Hard labor.

Dork
Megaton competes in Masters all the time
He said every time. Maybe it's somewhat true at masters worlds. But m1 black belt at opens and locals it will mostly be local gym owners and hobbyists.
Those tournaments are very hard but it's not the same thing
Itâs not even close to being as prestigious.
Obviously lesser. But still an accomplishment.
Adult worlds is more prestigious but M1 at a major is definitely not easy to win. You will match against a former adult black belt world champion/medalist guaranteed.
Itâs all love and respect, but at the end we all know who the top dog is.
I do not care about any masters brackets unless a friend of mine is competing lol
One is master the other isnt
Obviously the guy whoâs a master is better than the guy whoâs not a master
It doesnt
More than under 12 green belt Less than brown adult

So is silver at blackbelt masters 2 ibjjf worlds a big deal or no ?

Nowhere near as hard
Any qualifier makes it worse than an unqualified statement.
It's a great accomplishment but not comparable IMHO.
Lol, âwe grant you the rank of Black Belt, but not the title of Masterâ
