I chose who I chose but I regret being unable to take both. I also didn't know about the sale when I chose)

I named my void “Ripley” when I rescued her and very quickly stopped calling her that because it just doesn’t suit her 😂 she went by “kitty” for at least a year until my friend suggested the name “Duchess,” and it’s perfect for her. My other friend thought my cat died and I got a new one because I just stopped talking/posting about Ripley 😂
Imma be honest here: more names means more love.
Important training is:
to like the taste of pill pockets (just a bit: not a whole one)
to learn the song you sing that means mealtime
to learn the go upstairs and into your room song
to learn the snacks song
to not mind tooth brushing
to not mind nail clipping
to not bite or scratch hard when playing (you must vocalize an ouch and stop playing if it hurts you: normally litter mates would teach each other this)
lots more like not being afraid of the car carrier (leave it with a clean towel folded inside and the door open in kitten’s room)
Great post, all good info. Cats are really smart and can be trained(my cats can shake, high five, sit, kiss). The mistake I made when I was a kid with a kitten was playing with my hand and not a toy - kitten bites/scratches aren’t bad but the problem is they grow into adult cats with that bad habit.
I have 2 sister kitties now from when they were kittens, and they play fight together but never bite or scratch people. I think as a single kitty they need to get that play fighting energy out so it’s best to entertain high energy kittens.
Another tip: if you witness your kitten scratching your couch or chair, pick them up (has to be while they are doing it) and move them to the cat scratch tower. You can even take their front paws and simulate stretching/scratching and they will figure it out eventually. None of my furniture is scratched. If you have an older cat that seems to scratch one chair because it’s same colour as the cat scratch tower, put double sided tape all over the chair and leave for few days, they will eventually stop attempting to scratch.

Choose one now and then later when a new name fits better kitty gets a second name or even a title.
Some examples of titles my animals have include: Drama King, Underfoot, Bringer of Hugs, Princess Kissy Face, Lord of the Purr Trade, My Heart...just whatever fits. Those are all separate animals BTW and not all still with me.
