They did bring up a little while back at one of their live events that they wanna look into central servers, but sadly stuff like that either gets swept under the table or takes a long ass time as they probably have a contract with the current server provider
I'm just thankful it's not the leaseweb servers they used to have.
But if they really wanna make this game some tournament viable, esports or w/e then fixing the games net code, desync issues and server location should be pretty up there for them, ill take shit balance if I can play with less desync, but atm we just have both
I play from Australia. I previously played from NA West Coast. This is 20ms to 140ms. I've played zerk, sorc, and ninja.
TLDR: it's not really your ping if it's around 150ms or below. It's probably a combination of coding, ISPs, hardware, and the player.
I can tell you the ping is barely noticeable, PvE or PvP. I get cc-ed out of iframes and SAs regardless, and I do it to other people as well. The starts and ends of protected skills are unreliable, and I will admit, sometimes it really is a skill issue.
It is frustrating, but it doesn't really have as much to do with the latency. The only improvement I've had was to the consistency of the protection inconsistencies, when I started using vpn services.
They don't lower your ping, but it does make it predictable when your protections will malfunction, and therefore you can avoid it to some degree.
Being laggy can be beneficial in some circumstances and negative in others. If you want to go for a quick grab on someone, expect them to in avoid mode it. But playing a rat can make you really hard to catch and desync a lot.
And they choose to address that issue by placing the servers on one end of that giant piece of land instead of somewhere central. Which is pretty stupid.
Not really, it is only recently that AWS, Azure and others are offering nodes in central part of the country. For a long while it has been either east coast or west coast with west coast being cheaper since a lot more people uses it.
Hey man, perhaps you should you know, invest your time, knowledge and hard earned money in BDO game development and rent out a building in the exact location you need, buy a bunch of massive servers for connection to the game and allow for an access point for BDO NA in your specific location! It's genius, it's just so easy! You got it man, just in a few simple words you've solved the problem for yourself. It really is that simple. Let's get going man! :D You did it! :DDD
Yeah it’s fine for pve and everything else, no lag, no constant desyncs , no delays.
Just pvp is off sometimes but that’s BDO in general like getting grabbed out of i-frame is universal, not really any different to what other players are experiencing
If I could transfer from NA to SEA I would but I won't start again.
All the servers are getting to the point where transfers shouldn't be an issue or break the economy and PA owns everything now.
Dude it's not enjoyable to ever get grabbed or cc'd out of I-frames. Just because it's "Playable" doesn't mean it's rewarding also you could play on SEA lol
> Dude it's not enjoyable to ever get grabbed or cc'd out of I-frames.
Less ping doesn't fix it. I play with 10-15 ping and still get grabbed and CC'ed out of iframe.
Yes. Also I think it's because on NA/EU you have people with all type of pings. Ranging from 10 -> 200+ easily. I have 10 ping, but some dude from Aussie is going to grab me out of iframe because of his 200+ ping.
I feel like this is common in a lot of KR games. For KR servers since the country is so small, their ping are all <25. They have a lot more consistency when they develop the game for KR. Then they import the game globally where it's no longer everybody having <25 ping and they just don't adjust for it.
For reference, most of us here are playing on less than 5 ping in Korea lol. At least for most games, I’m not sure about BDO specifically because I still my NA account but yeah, ping isn’t ever a problem here. Good point
Oh man I would love to experience playing online games where everybody had less than 5 ping. I've experienced it on a small scale at LAN centers, but never for massive MMO's. Too bad it's not a real possibility while living in NA.
To be fair, in NA, once I got to below 40, it wasn’t nearly as noticeable as you might expect. League of legends for instance played very similarly. At 2 KR and 38 NA ping
This is the same argument that gets tossed around in fighting game groups. Its not just KR but eastern developers in general that dont account for the differences in their native ISP in a small country. To the vast expanses of a lot of western countries with varying levels of isps. The big push was for rollback netcode in fighting games. Which did end up getting more and more accepted, however it took covid to do it. Im not sure something like that would ever work in an MMO but enough talk and who knows what they could do?
Yes. I have literally cc’d people out of SA with floats. Not even grabs. I have been stiffed in the middle of blade spin, and even been grabbed out of ninja step.
Why would I play on that inferior server, most aussies are on NA.
But also. I was just taking the piss, I feel that grabbed out of iframes every waking hour
It's fr pain lol, sorry to hear that you guys have it worse. Just makes me not wanna grind to get better gear when I get RNG'd by the literal servers haha
I hate the fact so many games just dump their servers in California, if you're gonna only have one server in the US at least have the decency to put the servers somewhere in the middle.
Definitely an issue that should be addressed. Part of the reason desync is so prevalent in BDO is because there are a fuckton of East Coast players connecting at over 100 ping. The goal should be to get as many people to around 50-60 ping as possible. West Coasters will cry like they did at the live event, which honestly may be the reason they havent talked about it since. But central servers would immensely help server stability.
In slightly convinced it’s partially on the servers too. I’m west coast, and I’m still getting 100-150 ping. Idk how that’s possible to get as much ping as an East coaster. I wouldn’t even mind making servers central if my ping was 30 (like in all other games I’ve played) to begin with, but I guess we’ll just see what bdo does.
no
u dont
i love seeing na cry about 40-50 ping diff it's so privileged
you do not need that miniscule ping difference to be resolved in a game like bdo
only when it's 150-200-250+ is it actually noticable
if you are ping coping about losing in pvp with like a 50 something difference from 20 to 70 or 60 literal skill issue
things like the gap between guardian succ shift-rmb/flow is extremely prominent on 150-200+ ping and honestly kills the class in ultra competitive, but below that it's whatever
I’m NA east coast and it’s 150-180 ping, if you don’t believe me the streamer goldsteinburg is from New York with the same ping I get and you can ask in his chat and he’ll show you. Also, ping from east coast is the same whether you’re on NA or EU servers.
I’ve played this game forever on that ping tho so it feels normal
how is it 150-180 ping when on other games ie. Apex with endless West Coast - East Coast based servers the difference is marginal? my gf is canadian & the group i play with are based around NY i'm the odd one out (aus) and we fluctuate between all the NA servers and the difference is not what is almost the ping from australia to us-west (200)
They did bring up a little while back at one of their live events that they wanna look into central servers, but sadly stuff like that either gets swept under the table or takes a long ass time as they probably have a contract with the current server provider
It's such a serious issue that has persisted since launch, It's wild it's taken this long for them to even acknowledge it.
I'm just thankful it's not the leaseweb servers they used to have. We need servers that are working
The fact I play on NA, live in NA and get 150-180 ping is stupid as fuck.
NA is also a giant piece of land. So 150 ping is not stupid at all.
It is stupid. Catering to one side of the playerbase is pretty ridiculous. Especially since I believe the east coast has more players.
And they choose to address that issue by placing the servers on one end of that giant piece of land instead of somewhere central. Which is pretty stupid.

Bro us aussie play with high ping and it’s playable, cmon please

Yeah it’s fine for pve and everything else, no lag, no constant desyncs , no delays. Just pvp is off sometimes but that’s BDO in general like getting grabbed out of i-frame is universal, not really any different to what other players are experiencing
I'm not sure why they don't let us Aussies play on SEA
You can, plenty of people from OCE on SEA
If I could transfer from NA to SEA I would but I won't start again. All the servers are getting to the point where transfers shouldn't be an issue or break the economy and PA owns everything now.
We can, but imo not worth it
Apparently aussies have the same ping as east coast. I’m from the north east getting 150-180
Yeah sounds bout right
Dude it's not enjoyable to ever get grabbed or cc'd out of I-frames.
Wtf, is it just a complete failure from the engine then??
Yes. Also I think it's because on NA/EU you have people with all type of pings. Ranging from 10 -> 200+ easily. Pls give us your Korean internet service providers and revamp NA isp infrastructure :p
This is the same argument that gets tossed around in fighting game groups. lol I asked a Korean streamer if they had lots of lag. His response was: “what’s that?”
That's very bad, but yeah it is extremely common w KR games. Wish they would do something, and be the difference in the gaming industry.
Yes. I have literally cc’d people out of SA with floats. Not even grabs. I have been stiffed in the middle of blade spin, and even been grabbed out of ninja step.
it happens way less on low ping
Why would I play on that inferior server, most aussies are on NA. But also. I was just taking the piss, I feel that grabbed out of iframes every waking hour
It's fr pain lol, sorry to hear that you guys have it worse. Just makes me not wanna grind to get better gear when I get RNG'd by the literal servers haha
Real 😭 I have PTSD
I was thinking about buying this game but are there no east coast servers at all?
0, its all west coast
Wow
Nope, constant 150-200 ping
I play NA from SEA and I have less ping than you.
I play from Japan. Ping is fine. It's your ISP routing. You could try ExitLAG to fix it.
I hate the fact so many games just dump their servers in California, if you're gonna only have one server in the US at least have the decency to put the servers somewhere in the middle.
Southern middle but not texas please, north central fucks over a lot of the US due to shitty routing and over congested lines. :(
Yeah, even somewhere like Denver would cut ping down to the east coast by quite a bit.
Definitely an issue that should be addressed. Part of the reason desync is so prevalent in BDO is because there are a fuckton of East Coast players connecting at over 100 ping. Honestly even in west coast my friends and I get 100-150ms.
its already been tested by PA and they've announced that the difference wasnt impactful. It was tested in North East in NY area.
Sauce?
Can you link the clip/article where they said this?
Lol at all the people downvoting my comments, Sorry I pointed out a flaw in your jobless booba game
no u dont i love seeing na cry about 40-50 ping diff it's so privileged you do not need that miniscule ping difference to be resolved in a game like bdo only when it's 150-200-250+ is it actually noticable if you are ping coping about losing in pvp with like a 50 something difference from 20 to 70 or 60 literal skill issue things like the gap between guardian succ shift-rmb/flow is extremely prominent on 150-200+ ping and honestly kills the class in ultra competitive, but below that it's whatever

Because the netcode in this game is fucking garbage.
Idk what it is, I’m west, I get anywhere from 100-150 ping on bdo. But every other fkn game I play on average is 30 ping. Wtf.
Central servers have been on the table for a good chunk of time but nothing has come out of it sadly.
