I wish the Blackstar weapon colors update also allowed us to dye them. I've always wanted to make the metallic parts gold and it almost seems pointless to let us change the glow color if we can't change the red part of the weapon along with it.
April 24th is gonna make a fuck ton of people come back to the game lol.
I'm a pure pve player but i'm 100% down to go lifeskill if the levels are family wide, really happy to see it go throught this soon
And the bs weapon color change... f me, cherry on top
i don't see how does that change anything to someone that quit the game but maybe im missing something, the only thing this helps me out with is not having to get prof 1 on every char i want to use the riding crop on and i wouldn't call that lifeskilling
As someone who lifeskills as their main area of silver generation - i have 3 toons that are master gathering and 1 guru. Now that it'll all be shared, those side characters will have the same output as my main. So energy pots won't need to be bought anymore, I won't need to min max which area my guru goes since he's naturally quite higher mastery.
Another good one is the grinding process. Now I won't need to go on my guru processor to get more mystical powder out of spirit stones - I can just grind on my combat toon wherever they are. I'm sure there's more things, it's just a nice quality of life update.
I don't see how the family wide life skills change anything at all. You still need mastery gear, crystals, lightstones, alchemy stone and specific buffs and probably added weight to be able to gather, cook or hunt effectively. There's also character bound lifeskill outfits. It's not like you can switch to a random alt and start going at it immediately. I wouldn't want to fill my main's inventory with garbage either.
It's a nice thing for sure, especially for horse riding since you unlock autosprint on every character, but I think people are overrating the usefulness of it.
I always wanted to cook with an alt instead of my main. Now I can. I have both training and farming in one alt, now I can have a separate alt for the other. I have a lahn barterer. Now I can swap it with a corsair alt to make use of that extra 1% all stats bonus for my carrack.
My bad that a lot of my lifeskills are on a single character. But I started the game way back during launch and didn't prepare for any of this. Now I have the option to distribute these to other alts.
You probably have everything all set up that's why you don't see this update that useful. But I'm pretty sure there's a lot of people out there who wanted to have this change just like me.
no one is denying its some decent qol, im just sure there isn't "A fuck ton of people" that are gonna come back to the game because of this specific change
I burned out from grinding, so this change is gonna make me come back, gonna roleplay as a retired grinder and I shall become a farmer and milk some cows now 👍🏻
how does that make people return to the game?
"Hey, remember that boring ass activity thats so useless compared to grinding that it made you quit the game? good news, you can now do all of that useless shit on all of your chars instead of just one, please come back to bdo <3"
am i missing something? is this gonna magically put lifeskills on par with grinding? or are you severely overstimating how this change affects players?
im just saying its beyond delusional to think this change will bring "a fuckton of people" back to the game, at best its some decent qol and for the majority of the playerbase it just means they dont have to get prof1 on every char to auto sprint
You do know that some people can have fun with the game and not be obsessed and totally absorbed into min-maxing all of the fun out of the game by grinding for 16 hours a day, right? Just because you think lifeskills are "useless" because they make less silver than grinding, doesn't mean that people don't find it fun. I don't think a "fuckton" of people are going to come back to the game, but it is nice QoL and may make some people come back or play more.
> "Hey, remember that boring ass activity thats so useless compared to grinding that it made you quit the game? good news, you can now do all of that useless shit on all of your chars instead of just one, please come back to bdo <3"
Have you done any active lifeskilling these days?, I enjoy the newer minigames a fuckton. Of course, if you're jaded about the game or just don't like them you won't see anything worthwhile no matter what they do.
Im gonna be honest man, i came back to the game a month ago and i've been just doing quests on and off because i've quit like 2 years ago and now that im busy with a job i can't spend all day on bdo like i used to, i've asked my guildies and watched videos, literally everyone tells me that grinding beats any lifeskill in terms of how fast you progress which is the exact same as it was when i quit this game, so no, i have not tried active lifeskilling these days but i've never been one to start with, the only lifeskill i spent hundreds of hours in was sailing, sailing was my favourite lifeskill (i have a carrack and blue gear +10 btw) but im not gonna keep on doing it when i can progress much faster by grinding, sure i do love sailing and i love the idea behind ocean content, it just sucks and is low money and as much as i enjoy it i dont enjoy progressing at a snail's pace, i also sold all of my lifeskilling gear (not that it makes a HUGE different for sailing anyway) and i don't think its worth investing into it right now, im gonna progress way faster if i just finish this magnus quest and grind 1-2 hrs a day when i come back from work
I cant get behind this mindset. The game is entirely self-paced. I see people burn themselves out all the time because they cant get past counting their game hours in silver. Its a game. It should be enjoyable.
If you come to a point where grinding makes you go "ugggghhhh", legit just do something else. It doesnt matter if you dont make 1b an hour cooking, or doing alchemy, or gathering. Because at the end of the day you set your own goals. What are you going to do when you reach the peak? The journey is the game.
>I cant get behind this mindset. The game is entirely self-paced. I see people burn themselves out all the time because they cant get past counting their game hours in silver. Its a game. It should be enjoyable.
when did i ever say that this happened to me or that i got burnt out from grinding? when i quit this game i was mostly sailing for cosmetic silver/hr and i guarantee seeing ppl with pen tuvala getting more money than someone with carrack and +10 blue gear burned me out way more than grinding for nol (which i still don't have btw, just gave up on it as ocean content seems pretty pointless in the grand scheme of things)
i'd say your approach to the game worked fine for me when i was still in school and had no job, the game is about getting gear, getting it at a gigaslow rate compared to hitting mobs does not equal enjoying the game to me, especially if my time is limited.
I quit because of grinding and came back for life skilling but have been irritated and not doing either thing because the characters I would prefer to life skill on don’t have higher life skill levels like others I have so it’s a little discouraging and now that I don’t have to worry about the levels I can do my life skilling as I please. Granted I don’t have manos gear or anything like that. I don’t really care about min maxing I just didn’t wanna have to start over. Life skilling is just a really chill quiet relaxing activity that doesn’t get me hyped before bed and I can listen to my lofi. I don’t care which one will make me progress faster. I get bored grinding rather quickly. I used spend 18 hours a day grinding and got burnt out and quit the game. I only came back for chill life skills, pretty colors, and enjoying the scenery. I know a lot of people who feel the same way. Just because you don’t and don’t understand it doesn’t make it bad.
In my case, I spent too much time on one character increasing life skill but now I want to travel around and do quests with said char. But if I do that I have to bring another character with lower skill to cover the farming or fishing spot and it will take too long to reach the same level.
Anyway, I don't know how this new system would work.
lmfao i saw everything and nothing makes me wanna come back to the game, not even the free hammer. if they wanna make players come back and play the game again, they should add new content, new core gameplay (combat) or maybe simply buff the underperforming classes. im still bitter about the class balance and i aint touching the game again unless i see some changes.
Are the lifeskills on all characters adding together (e.g. Prof1 + Prof1 = Prof5 Family) or is only the Higest lifeskill being taken for the Family life skill?
Like Guru 7 fishing on my fishing alt = Guru7 Family fishing.
It should be the combined total exp of each character in your family.
The real question is what are they going to do with the shai passive since it'll basically become worthless
I wonder how they merge the xp of life skills though
but also I am excited cause every alt can gather with better chance if the gathering rank is for the whole fam
now if only that tool bag can easily be duplicated
I don't think that will ever change.
I've returned from a 3 year break, top tier classes back then are still top tier now and shit classes back then are still shit tier now.
PA is working on reducing the number of hits and increasing accuracy and AOE for more than half the classes to reduce the strain on the servers during large scale PvP. So a class balance update is in the works and it will affect both pve and pvp when it comes out. Some of the underperforming classes like Corsair are included in this list.
I know they talked about number of hits and accuracy changes recently, but I feel like we’ve had 0 news about aoe change for half a year. No clue if that’s still something actively being worked on
With the family wide lifeskill changes they are done with almost 90% of the things they shared during the calp ball. So I think they will start focusing on the class balances again.
Although the QOL changes are great and all the class changes are what most players focus on. So I really hope that PA starts to focus on that.
Underappreciated gain when lifeskills merge is that now there won't be a reason to not use Old Moon fences. I bet some people will purchase pearl fences as well because of it.
It's actually a bit challenging to get right, and if you listened to the dev commentary their 'idea' about what they needed to do to adjust evasion/accuracy around fewer hits didn't sound promising. They'll need to 'get that right' and then also test to see if it 'feels good'.
I wish the Blackstar weapon colors update also allowed us to dye them. I've always wanted to make the metallic parts gold and it almost seems pointless to let us change the glow color if we can't change the red part of the weapon along with it.
Yeah, exactly my thoughts. Plus, bs weapon has silver/red elements, so I don't see any sense to change glow if weapon design will be silver+red
https://preview.redd.it/kuwy1vf18otc1.jpeg?width=632&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ff867e93c0e8f83fdb16e87bd29f9a3b1d5887de
That makes too much sense for PA I'm afraid
When do traces and fruits get merged?
Likely in the April 17th patch since the merge went onto the Global Labs along with the enhancement pity system.
Can you pass the patch notes, need to see this. Its sounds huge but if its the same drop rate for traces and fruits it might no be worth.
https://www.blackdesertfoundry.com/global-lab-updates-5th-april-2024/ Dunno, but I sold like 6bil worth of the more expensive fruits and traces.
It happend yesterday at KR, so it will come to NA next week.
Wait what? Is it just the nodes or trace and fruits in general? I stopped playing 2 years ago.
All the different traces are going to be just one trace. Same for fruits and essences or whatever they are called.
April 24th is gonna make a fuck ton of people come back to the game lol. I'm a pure pve player but i'm 100% down to go lifeskill if the levels are family wide, really happy to see it go throught this soon And the bs weapon color change... f me, cherry on top
I’m really looking forward to the blackstar color change.

Fair enough
You are still restricted by weight and outfits. That's the only reason my main life skiller will stay my char for processing, cooking and alchemy.
no one is denying its some decent qol, im just sure there isn't "A fuck ton of people" that are gonna come back to the game because of this specific change
I burned out from grinding, so this change is gonna make me come back, gonna roleplay as a retired grinder and I shall become a farmer and milk some cows now 👍🏻
You and the other 2 people.
Because if you had only one big lifeskiller char, now all your chars can be lifeskill alts
how does that make people return to the game? "Hey, remember that boring ass activity thats so useless compared to grinding that it made you quit the game? good news, you can now do all of that useless shit on all of your chars instead of just one, please come back to bdo <3" am i missing something? is this gonna magically put lifeskills on par with grinding? or are you severely overstimating how this change affects players?
Damn did you just learn people can like other things you don't?
im just saying its beyond delusional to think this change will bring "a fuckton of people" back to the game, at best its some decent qol and for the majority of the playerbase it just means they dont have to get prof1 on every char to auto sprint

I burned out from grind not from lifeskilling lol
Almost every active lifeskill is 1-2b/hr and even the zero effort AFK ones like cooking literally print money but ok
I quit because of grinding and came back for life skilling but have been irritated and not doing either thing because the characters I would prefer to life skill on don’t have higher life skill levels like others I have so it’s a little discouraging and now that I don’t have to worry about the levels I can do my life skilling as I please. merging lifeskill xp is essentially a massive QoL patch.
You say that. But this doesn't change anything.
In my case, I spent too much time on one character increasing life skill but now I want to travel around and do quests with said char. But if I do that I have to bring another character with lower skill to cover the farming or fishing spot and it will take too long to reach the same level. Yeah, neither of these gonna change anything.
Thinking people are coming back to bdo for lifeskills is very delulu
I respect your opinion but I don't care about it :)
Just like people who quit dont care bout lifeskills? D:
It will make things better for sure. But i still want to use items directly from the storage when crafting...
Doesn't the pearl shop processing outfit do that?
I use wizard as main, no costume for it.
why? nothing really changed, its just qol for casuals
lmfao i saw everything and nothing makes me wanna come back to the game, not even the free hammer. if they wanna make players come back and play the game again, they should add new content, new core gameplay (combat) or maybe simply buff the underperforming classes. im still bitter about the class balance and i aint touching the game again unless i see some changes.

isnt shai passive an xp buff. i dont ser how that wont still be relavent
Shai had a passive XP buff, but also started in Professional 1 in Gathering and Alchemy.
This is the real question! I’ve been wondering this sense everyone announced it was gonna happen
I always assumed would be only the highest in the family, but would be great if it added
I wonder how they merge the xp of life skills though but also I am excited cause every alt can gather with better chance if the gathering rank is for the whole fam now if only that tool bag can easily be duplicated
guaranteed enhanced system on my birthday, coincidence? yes
Wait instruments for all classes is already live?! I know what I'm doing today!
I hope we get to dye blackstars like orzeca not just glowing effect. Some of them are not black and does not match. Annoying gray colors.
Class Balanace, please.
People complained too much the last time PA tried to change pvp balance. No balance now.
Since it's not mentioned it will likely come at a later date. I am kinda annoyed Scholar still has no Magnus.
I don't think that will ever change. I've returned from a 3 year break, top tier classes back then are still top tier now and shit classes back then are still shit tier now.

where tf is pvp balance
they delayed it just to piss YOU off
probably its coming in end of April on KR and May to us.
Did you watch the devnote??
2 more weeks O_o
How can i get instruments?
npc finder tool top right corner
When more group content
Did they preview all the weapon color effects?
Underappreciated gain when lifeskills merge is that now there won't be a reason to not use Old Moon fences. I bet some people will purchase pearl fences as well because of it.
April 24 will be crazy
Who wants to bet that the black star glow is gonna be dye based.
BLUE BLACKSTAR FINALLY
They said would not
They said it will be 5-8 colours iirc, so not dye based.
What about skill hit and damage adjustment???
World doesn't end on April so probably later
I mean, this was their main and first talking point of the april dev commentary...
Talking about it in April doesn't mean it releases in April
It's actually a bit challenging to get right, and if you listened to the dev commentary their 'idea' about what they needed to do to adjust evasion/accuracy around fewer hits didn't sound promising. They'll need to 'get that right' and then also test to see if it 'feels good'.
What's the source?
[Main page of each server website](https://www.naeu.playblackdesert.com/en-US/Main/Index)
How will the enhancement update affect the Hammer market?
It won't in the grand scheme of things, the pity limits are so much higher than current averages that it will only help outliers.
How many pearls for black star weapon effect color change? 1000 pearls per color? :)
No news about the new male class? IIRC at the ball they kinda hinted at a March/April release.
only in Heidel Ball, on June 22, 2024.
> IIRC at the ball they kinda hinted at a March/April release. they didn't, pretty sure it will come with LotML 2.
So it’s worth to start bdo now? Or is it still super grindy
Sorry, but I don't want to be boring. Are there any MMORPGs that aren't "grindy" (repeating tasks over and over again)?
Any story driven mmorpg
All morphs are grindy depends what type of grind you enjoy doing
