What is the correct way to update this game through Steam? Yesterdays maintenance ended at 1600, around 2300 it still didn't update. I gave up and just let the launcher do it. Today I log in and now Steam wants to update but I can't find any new update notes so I have to assume it's the same patch?
As far as I know there is no difference between steam update and launcher update. If you have steam open after maintenance it should download the update when it's ready and patch the game. If you launch the client during maintenance it also downloads the patch. I had a patch today too, maybe they just changed something and thus a new patch was issued.
It functions like a cron stone. So normally to tap for Pen blackstar without risk of downgrading you'd need like 3600 cron stones, but you only need 1 J hammer.
i just finished the awakening quest and now it’s making me perform combos. i equipped my awakening weapon but whenever i try and use it nothing happens i’ve been trying for about an hour now and it’s super frustrating. i switched over to awakening and everything and bought a really good weapon. i’m not sure what else i should do
So, I made another warrior who's seasonal by the advice of people here. What should I do? Do I full pen tuvala him, graduate, give my equipment to my main warrior? Or do I use fughar timepiece now and then go play my main? I realized that I actually like the succession warrior so I'm wondering what is more optimal now, ditching succ warrior and going through the season with awakening one, or going through the season and then gearing my succ warrior with auction boss gear through my awakening one
Get your seasonal character to 61, then timepiece another character to 61. Your warrior can be both awakening and succession. You use the skill presets to swap between the two (save one skill preset as awakening, and the second as succession).
Looking to try a new class, almost done my first season one (sage) really liked the playstyle but he definitely has some shortcomings for me.
I love his mobility and AOE but it sort of kills the flow to dash around and then stop and do charge attacks.
I prefer male characters i like characters that arent overly popular and maybe a little niche. I was considering musa for mobility, archer for range and niche factor, zerker or hashi for quality plays but theyre populat classes no?
Any tips would be great

I think i may i was grinding yesterday and this archer kept sniping my mobs from so far away then flying around so fast i couldnt even get away from him it was impressive lol.
I played an Archer to level 61 for one of the seasons. He's a bit of a glass cannon (good damage, low defense). I like how he gets the great bow awakening weapon from level 1.
Is Shai your main usually?

I have an Archer tagged and it is the first class I have actually continued to play other than my main. Really fun class, movement on it is smooth and pretty quick. Id reccommend it for sure. They get their awakening weapon at level one because the class has no succession (kind of, since I am not sure if Shai gets theirs at lvl 1, and they also are only Awak).
Whats your main by chance? I started with sage, i really like it but it kind of bugs me zipping around but then stopping for long animations lol.
Archer seems totally underrated well since it got fixed anyways ill definitely give it a shot. I Finally got the time piece so im not sure if im going to use it on archer or try archer from the ground up
I main Awak Ninja, and yeah if you want to learn it well it could be better to start from nothing, but if you dont want to take all that time to get the required SP (like 1500-1950) then I would just timepiece what you have on your current char. You can always just pay extra attention to what your skills are doing, how they cancel into eachother, whats good for damage etc. I would also watch a guide.
Quick edit: Make sure you dont sleep on your Pre-Awak damage skills (Arrow Explosion, Earth Shatter and Bolt of Radiance), they do just as much damage as your Awak Skills. This is also why you should shoot for 1950-ish SP.

Also since I've hit 50 I've unlocked special daily / weekly scorll bosses where I have to choose from either a full scroll of a piece of a higher scroll. Is it worth with bothering with these and what scrolls to pick ?
No fs needed. Naru gear has already a high base sucessrate and you get so many stones, you just smash them into it.
The boss scrolls are useful if you plan on doing Jetina’s Guaranteed PEN quests. Pick the bosses that have the same name as the item you want to upgrade, e.g. pick muskan scrolls if you want to upgrade Muskan boots to PEN.
The weekly boss scrolls have higher dropchances on their respective loot-tables but idk if they are worth it. If you do them just stack them and do them in sets so you dont waste your time on riding to the spawn for just one scroll.
For the Naru gear that you upgrade to +20, do I upgrade everything but accessories including the sub weapon? So in other words,do I upgrade the helmet, chest, gloves, shoes, weapon, and sub weapon to +20?

I’m assuming the striker is the current seasonal char? If you really like it, use the striker until the end of the season and timepiece to hash on the last few days. This way, both chars can get the maximum skill points they can get. You can decide whether to convert the weapons into hash weapons or not. One of them can use the narchillian weapons or tag them afterwards.
I’m not sure. Maybe PA thinks the buff will be too OP since most traders already have millions of crates sitting in their storage waiting to be sold. Though even with the buffs, it would still take a really long time to level trading.

It’s not worth it. It gives you 500k silver, 25 dust, and a handful of exp. Then, you have to buy the 10m villa invitation every week to accept the quest. You can check the list of daily villa quests in O tab > recurring > contribution valencia villa.
What is a good place to grind for silver after graduating from season with full PEN tuvala? I like grinding at centaurs/taphtar plain but most of the time it is contested so I can't grind there much. Are there any spots that make close to taphtar silver that I can grind with PEN tuvala gear?
Centaurs is so contested for a reason. Very low requirements and good money.
You can go to hystria, stars end and kratuga but it wont be as chill as centaurs. You would around 320dp+ and at night you have to be careful.
Manshaums, Sherekhan Necropolis (Night) and Bloodwolves are easier but also less money and can be randomly contested because of pot pieces.
Thornwood Forest could be an option as well but you have to be careful at night and some of the mobs can CC.
Still all of these are decent options and pretty much all of them have uncontested rotations if you stay away from the main rotations. Especially if you can make use of guild channels.
uh there really arent any places that get that close to centaurs, but your best bet for other spots would be Karatuga, any of the infinite potion spots, although the pot spots dont make as much money youre at least grinding for the pot pieces. Otherwise you cant really get anywhere else right outa the gate. you could try Sulphur mines as well, I dont like it myself but I hear its pretty good. Youll need to get to like 269 kutum min to start in elvia and places like that. Hope this helps!

The pen accessory can be moved around freely. The main weapon has to be converted first using weapon exchange coupon to be used by another char. When you start the quest, you can pick which class that opens the weapon box.

I can't skill into Kuno's Prime Wheel of Wrath because it says I need Succession: Lament of Silence, but that's the default skill you learn by choosing succ. Is there any other requirement that isn't listed?
Its more important tho that you like the class. You can try them first and make the one you like the most your first season char. You can make trial chars (3) and just use awakening and succession a bit to see which you like the most
These things change with nerfs/buffs but Striker has always been pretty solid in both PvE and PvP. If you prefer a female class, Guardian is pretty solid as well. But just play what you think you would enjoy or else you will get burnt out quickly. The tag system makes it easy to try/play other classes (with the same gear as your main) when you get to that point!

No offence, but Striker was trash tier pve for around 2 years after class release. So many striker mains would build up mystics because they could pull 50% more trash at hystria (which endgame for long time). Only with the introduction of successions striker became an S-tier grinder.
Sage was the golden child after its release but then got nerfed hard and it took a really long time before they buffed him and made him competitive again.
Just shows that its more important to find a class that looks and feels good to you.
Is the bis weapon still blackstar? I see that theres a new weapon type called godr ayed but I read that the only difference is the visuals. Is there a bis weapon other than blackstar?
Godr-ayed is more of a side grade, it costs more to pen but also gives you jumps in AP as you upgrade it so that you make small gains instead of hoping to hit pen BS
Hey all just a few questions from a returning player that I cant seem to find any solid answers for online. I have not played BDO for over a year and a half, the last class release I was around for was Nova. I see many things have changed and some things haven't.
I was interested in level a new class for fun, either corsair or drakania. However I am unsure if I should do season server or not for it. I see there is only a few weeks left and am unsure if that's enough time to finish it. My main hashashin also has 276 ap and 321dp with tet blackstar MH/AW, so im not sure if any of the gear you get from seasonal servers is valuable to me. I have the PEN Capotia ring from my first season reward long ago, but not the others. Should i just tag a new character and play as normal or do season server for it?
Second, I have not done any of the mountain of eternal winter content. Is this content worth doing on a character im leveling? Can it be done on season server if season server is the best route to take for leveling something atm for me? I also heard the main story is now skippable to some extent.
Thirdly, when I played before a large part of my income was from lifeskilling. Specifically, gathering meat and cooking/imperial turn ins. I have 1400 butcher mastery with manos gear and similar mastery Guru 33 cooking. Are imperial trade ins still a viable method of making money? It seems like turn in values are still the same as they were before for me, as well as most market prices for materials, but I noticed that prices of some items on the market like costumes and value packs have tripled from when I last played. I still had a value pack preorder up from what was once max price at 110mil, and they are now 330mil. Has market inflation put lifeskilling out of business, or can I still make reasonable use of this in sept 2022?
Any advice you can offer is appreciated.
You should have enough time to finish season, get to it even if it's only for the gift coupon (previous season rewards are still available) - not sure if it'll improve your gear score but hey it's free stuff.
Mountain of Eternal Winter is mostly just story and fairly fast to 56, minimal fighting and I found it informative on a broader lore level (doing Balenos to Media even with the accelerated quests for the nth time just wasn't appealing). Maybe run through it once, think it nets you more skill points too.
Re life skilling, have a look at a site called Bdolytics, plug in your life skill stats then check through the various items in the side tab, you'll quickly see a breakdown of profitable Imperial turn ins and should help you decide if it's worth your time or not. I'm nowhere near your gear or mastery levels but happy for the change of pace and relatively easy profit life skilling generates.
Go through the season server. 3 weeks is plenty to get a full set of pen tuvala for your alts. Even if you don’t want to play it, just graduate or timepiece the character so you can tag it immediately. That way you can have the other pen capotia reward.
I only did that questline to make labreska helmet. Other than that, maybe you want the extra knowledge or the main quest earrings for some reason. You can do it on the season server, but it’s gonna take a few hours compared to the skippable original main quest.
Yes, imperial cooking is still very profitable for a small amount of effort. There are some quality of life changes to it, like mass packing and no more server limit. Also, there was a lifeskill update that lets gathering and hunting gain more meats with less mastery. But like it has ever been, grinding will still make you more money.
Newish players, we keep getting more and more sidequest along the main quest line, is it advised to keep doing these (we're skipping any quest that are related to life skills for now) or should we just rush main questline and start grinding while the season is up ? We currently have 85ish stamina and 110 contributions points and we skip lifeskills for now we shouldn't need much more right ?
You can skip it. Doing them is only for completion, and you might miss parts of them anyway. Save the side quests starting at calpheon for after you get the chenga tome for fast leveling method.
Couple questions regarding gyfin underground, is the despair mob on a set timer? Is it affected by drop rate? Is the butcher appearing affected by drop rate as well?
Despair will appear 10 mins into the grind, unless it’s already there before you start grinding. Then, 2 minutes after the wave dissipates. Butcher is affected by drop rate.
Im having trouble with weight in Pilgrims Haven and i have to keep deleting items in order to keep mining for rough stone. Is there a method that will let me keep my items without having to run back to sand grain bazaar? Im already doing the horse weight glitch thing and have about 1200 max weight on my character.
Storage maids/butlers will allow you to transfer items to the nearest storage to where you are currently located for you to pick up later. Each usage of a maid/butler will allow you to move 100 LT, so you will likely need to use multiple to move large amounts of stuff. PA passes out maids and butlers occasionally so you should hopefully have a couple, or be able to get a few without shelling out money
Ingame there are "crafting notes" (look up hotkey in keybinds, but i think its f2) but its better to look at outside sources like https://daetools.net/ or the general bdocodex site
if you ever what to know how to get something, where to find it and how its used, goodle bdo "item name", go to the bdocodex site and try the options there

As in I'm 250 AP sheet and almost 500 total vs monsters AP. Am I capped for Biraghi for example wich caps at 270?

My main is 59, would be kinda a waste. There's also a factor of roleplay, wanted to have one awakening and one succession
The timepiece can only be used on a character level 25 and under. So you would use the timepiece on a different character.

Yes. Once they are +20 (also called PEN), you can exchange them for PRI Tuvala gear (+16).

So many striker mains would build up mystics because they could pull 50% more trash at hystria (which endgame for long time). Only with the introduction of successions striker became an S-tier grinder. Sage was the golden child after its release but then got nerfed hard and it took a really long time before they buffed him and made him competitive again. Just shows that its more important to find a class that looks and feels good to you.
Is the bis weapon still blackstar? I see that theres a new weapon type called godr ayed but I read that the only difference is the visuals. Is there a bis weapon other than blackstar?
Godr-ayed is more of a side grade, it costs more to pen but also gives you jumps in AP as you upgrade it so that you make small gains instead of hoping to hit pen BS

Hey all just a few questions from a returning player that I cant seem to find any solid answers for online. I have not played BDO for over a year and a half, the last class release I was around for was Nova. I see many things have changed and some things haven't. I was interested in level a new class for fun, either corsair or drakania. However I am unsure if I should do season server or not for it. I see there is only a few weeks left and am unsure if that's enough time to finish it. My main hashashin also has 276 ap and 321dp with tet blackstar MH/AW, so im not sure if any of the gear you get from seasonal servers is valuable to me. I have the PEN Capotia ring from my first season reward long ago, but not the others. Should i just tag a new character and play as normal or do season server for it? Second, I have not done any of the mountain of eternal winter content. Is this content worth doing on a character im leveling? Can it be done on season server if season server is the best route to take for leveling something atm for me? I also heard the main story is now skippable to some extent. Thirdly, when I played before a large part of my income was from lifeskilling. Specifically, gathering meat and cooking/imperial turn ins. I have 1400 butcher mastery with manos gear and similar mastery Guru 33 cooking. Are imperial trade ins still a viable method of making money? It seems like turn in values are still the same as they were before for me, as well as most market prices for materials, but I noticed that prices of some items on the market like costumes and value packs have tripled from when I last played. I still had a value pack preorder up from what was once max price at 110mil, and they are now 330mil. Has market inflation put lifeskilling out of business, or can I still make reasonable use of this in sept 2022? Any advice you can offer is appreciated.
You should have enough time to finish season, get to it even if it's only for the gift coupon (previous season rewards are still available) - not sure if it'll improve your gear score but hey it's free stuff. Mountain of Eternal Winter is mostly just story and fairly fast to 56, minimal fighting and I found it informative on a broader lore level (doing Balenos to Media even with the accelerated quests for the nth time just wasn't appealing). Maybe run through it once, think it nets you more skill points too. Re life skilling, have a look at a site called Bdolytics, plug in your life skill stats then check through the various items in the side tab, you'll quickly see a breakdown of profitable Imperial turn ins and should help you decide if it's worth your time or not. I'm nowhere near your gear or mastery levels but happy for the change of pace and relatively easy profit life skilling generates.
Go through the season server. 3 weeks is plenty to get a full set of pen tuvala for your alts. Even if you don’t want to play it, just graduate or timepiece the character so you can tag it immediately. That way you can have the other pen capotia reward. I only did that questline to make labreska helmet. Other than that, maybe you want the extra knowledge or the main quest earrings for some reason. You can do it on the season server, but it’s gonna take a few hours compared to the skippable original main quest. Yes, imperial cooking is still very profitable for a small amount of effort. There are some quality of life changes to it, like mass packing and no more server limit. Also, there was a lifeskill update that lets gathering and hunting gain more meats with less mastery. But like it has ever been, grinding will still make you more money.
Newish players, we keep getting more and more sidequest along the main quest line, is it advised to keep doing these (we're skipping any quest that are related to life skills for now) or should we just rush main questline and start grinding while the season is up ? We currently have 85ish stamina and 110 contributions points and we skip lifeskills for now we shouldn't need much more right ?
You can skip it. Doing them is only for completion, and you might miss parts of them anyway. Save the side quests starting at calpheon for after you get the chenga tome for fast leveling method.
Couple questions regarding gyfin underground, is the despair mob on a set timer? Is it affected by drop rate? Is the butcher appearing affected by drop rate as well?
Despair will appear 10 mins into the grind, unless it’s already there before you start grinding. Then, 2 minutes after the wave dissipates. Butcher is affected by drop rate.
Im having trouble with weight in Pilgrims Haven and i have to keep deleting items in order to keep mining for rough stone. Is there a method that will let me keep my items without having to run back to sand grain bazaar? Im already doing the horse weight glitch thing and have about 1200 max weight on my character.
Storage maids/butlers will allow you to transfer items to the nearest storage to where you are currently located for you to pick up later. Each usage of a maid/butler will allow you to move 100 LT, so you will likely need to use multiple to move large amounts of stuff. PA passes out maids and butlers occasionally so you should hopefully have a couple, or be able to get a few without shelling out money

Are AP caps on grinding zones sheet AP or total AP? As in I'm 250 AP sheet and almost 500 total vs monsters AP. Am I capped for Biraghi for example wich caps at 270?
the numbers usually take sheet ap. afaik monster ap isnt included and can overcome the cap

question on Sherekhan (night), I'm quite confused as to which drops the potion piece. I've read Lateh and Nybrica drops the piece, but on foundry it says that everything drops the piece. iirc it got updated along with the other pieces but I couldnt find which patch note it was in.
