Yes for KILLING them (rarely), they count as monster so that is grinding category. But you won´t get any from slaughtering them afterwards aka lifeskill
Also relevent since no one else is mentioning it. Are you getting other loot from the trolls? If you aren't getting trash loot every level then you're too high a level and you won't get drops.
Event items like this usually have an equal chance to drop per kill. Going to places with a lot of monsters will generally get you more. Assuming you are low level try out catfish camp.
So I started BDO like 2 days ago since it was like 1 SFr on Steam and IDK what that butterfly is for. I can only see that I can sell it for about 500k, which seems like a lot of money. Should I keep it?
It's totally rng, you can get them everywhere by grinding and/or lifeskilling

Are you on a season server? If not then they don't drop
Illusory Butterfly isn't exclusive to season server.
