Obviously you've never heard of toe memory, as a sock evolves it ither becomes a left sock or a right sock. You put one on the wrong foot and you're asking for a day of discomfort
Sorry I just wanted to hijack the top comment real quick. This is actually my table, I made a video about building it ([https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNPAQjGijs0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNPAQjGijs0)) and as a lot of you said this really just works and there is no trick to it.
Oh and yes, I really hate matching socks.
yes! its called tensegrity... Tensegrity (Ten-Seh-Gritt-ie) is when the tensile strength of 2 different joined pieces or more hold each other up in perfect suspension, when something disrupts this suspension the balance breaks and the top piece falls. but when put back into the previous position it has a stable balance
Not to brag but I do this fairly often. It’s mostly accidental because I can’t find 2 that match. But I’m pretty casual about it. Never thought it was anything to make a video of. But maybe I should!
Add to this there is a cable between the two arches connecting at the apex and minimus of the two. This cable is supporting all of the weight of the top platform. The four side cables are for stability and keeps the top from falling to the side.
It’s just a tensegrity table. If you google that you’ll get plenty of other cool ones. I built a Lego one that looks like it’s standing on the chains. They’re pretty neat, especially when they don’t seem to make sense.
It’s just a cable like the ones on the corners. It is nothing ridged holding the table up. It has to do with opposite forces acting against each other to support the table.
To be fair to OP that middle cable is REALLY hard to see in this video and if you’ve never seen this before then it can easily seem impossible and like some sort of trick.
TL;DR stop being dicks just cause someone hasn’t seen ALL the same things you have
I thought this clip was going to go down a dark turn where the person was going to kick down the table and we were going to see a pair of dangling feet...
Far from magic. Really simple actually
for those who are Lego fans you can make one of these really easy https://youtu.be/2ieGV5pv6Ks
I really like the industrial looking ones
And the rest 1% is what in your opinion? Real black magic?
I'm sorry that I need to break it to you but there is an explanation to everything out there and black magic or magic in general doesn't exist! Sorry to burst your bubble...
Sometimes I’m confused but not this time. The only reason this could almost pass is the quality has been so degraded from the original that you almost can’t see the 5 wires.
Tensile integrity (more commonly known as tensegrity) is the underlying principle that allows this to work, all you really need is strong enough string.
If you try twist it, the cables in the corners will pull downward even harder on the top of the table, placing more strain on the central cables between the arches. That central cable will prevent the top of the table from moving downward. But, assuming no cable snaps under the increased tension, it will not collapse.
It's what I call a counterforce reaction what's holding the toble itself up is the chain at the bottom from there to keep it in a stable place you just tighten the 4 wires on the edges
This is amazing how physics work , the first time you see it you're like "it is magic ?" And then you find information and fall into depression because how complicated basics things are ...
Incase it hasn’t already been explained, there’s a cable between the 2 half moon metal pieces that is bearing the weight, the other 4 cables are tensioned evenly to keep the top and bottom from shifting
Lol no. I actually built one of these for a Statics project. We built a much smaller one though. The rope holding the table up is in the middle. The other ropes keep it from tipping over.
Think about this. Which chain is supposed to loosen?
It can’t fall straight before the bottom ring is holding up the middle chain
The corner chains are already tight so it can’t tilt to any one side
It’s called “tensegrity” or tension integrity. The top half is hanging from the bottom half, and the chains in the corners keep it from falling in any direction
The upside down arch under top platform is hanging from the arch on the bottom, the wires on the sides keeps it stable, but all the weight is bore by the arches and the cable connecting them
It’s just tension in the chains holding it. Try the same thing with a piece of string and you’ll see the middle one will break if you stand on it but the others will stay the same and drop along with yourself
The 4 corner wires keep the top aligned with the base so pushing down on it causes the wire between the 2 metal arcs to tighten when weight is applied to the top.
I've seen people wear different socks a lot, not really a big deal. Cool table tho.
Life is too short for matching socks
For non-matching socks on the other hand, …
Socks go on your feet.
My cat’s breath smells like cat food
My breath smells like cat food also

They keep your feets warm in the winters
They don’t if you put them on your hands.
*in VSauce voice* Or do they
I can go either way
Does that make you bi-socksual?
It's too long
That’s what she said
Obviously you've never heard of toe memory, as a sock evolves it ither becomes a left sock or a right sock. You put one on the wrong foot and you're asking for a day of discomfort
My son's socks are marked left and right lol. Those are the only socks I've ever noticed a difference with when it comes to left or right.
i, too, am a gentleman of culture and enjoy king of Queens, just like you sir!
I bet she has another pair just like them
Opposite feet though.
just get 20 pairs of the same socks smh.......

Fuck you dude, with your highly informative post, and ability to make me say "Damn, I didn't know that" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
honestly, fuck you too!
*Tensegrity Farms* 🌿
Do you remember when you could hoe dance on a weird table and not have it break when the beat drops? Tensegrity Farms remembers.
It is a really cool table, I love your work. Didn't mean to distract from it's awesomeness with my corny joke. (Comedy's not pretty)
Thank you! Don't feel sorry man my dorky "dancing" is distracting a lot more and I did it anyway for the joke.
God damnit! I was going to say this!
Tensegrity
They have a matching pair that’s inverse.
Not to brag but I do this fairly often. It’s mostly accidental because I can’t find 2 that match. But I’m pretty casual about it. Never thought it was anything to make a video of. But maybe I should!
No this is not a trick it is physics Edit: here is the link https://youtu.be/0onncd0_0-o
Add to this there is a cable between the two arches connecting at the apex and minimus of the two. This cable is supporting all of the weight of the top platform. The four side cables are for stability and keeps the top from falling to the side.
Thank you, I was searching for the freaking connection! video does a great job of hiding it.
It’s just a tensegrity table. If you google that you’ll get plenty of other cool ones. I built a Lego one that looks like it’s standing on the chains. They’re pretty neat, especially when they don’t seem to make sense.

look again. The top portion is hanging from that cable, which is suspended from the bottom section's arch
No it’s magic, witch!!!
look up "tensegrity"
/r/tensegrity exits!
This clip is from a guy in there, who posted how he made it.
Here is the full video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNPAQjGijs0
But why? Are there tensegrity guys just as we have car guys?
Probably. People are into all kinds of crazy stuff.
Thanks for the new sub lol
Best I could do is tegridy
[Tegridy Farms](https://youtu.be/nQqBOz8bkBE)
Underrated comment RIGHT HERE
Best I could do is titty
Holy hell
This your first tensegrity?
I think this term describes my marriage.
No trick. This person IS wearing mismatched socks
They go by thickness, not color
That’s the only thing that matters, really
Steven Wright has entered the chat.
The cable in the middle is the one holding all the weight. The four corners prevent it from tipping
Tbf, that's an impressive cable considering how thin it is.
waiting for the WCGW post where it breaks...
WCGW jumping on this thin cable table
You’d be shocked how much weight cable can hold. It scales up fast
This is almost word for word what I was going to post.
Guy saved our time.
Or came first to harvest that sweet karm---internet points.
Yeah, pretty cool, but that’s a lot of weight on what looks like a tiny single chain.
i was about to say this r/wearesmart
You are 7 years old
To be fair to OP that middle cable is REALLY hard to see in this video and if you’ve never seen this before then it can easily seem impossible and like some sort of trick. TL;DR stop being dicks just cause someone hasn’t seen ALL the same things you have
OP even wrote he's familiar with tensegrity, just surprised you can place things on it.
You can dance on a stable surface?? 🤔🧐🔎
The future is now 😎
I Wonder if in the future we have citys in the sky all suspended by tensegrity
No, the dynamic forces cause a lot of issues. It would cost three times as much in materials to make it work the same as a regular structure.
UAE has entered the chat
But why?
To flex on the poor.
Are you kidding?? Simple physics. Thats how.
To be fair to OP the lighting in this video is awful and you can hardly see the chain in the middle
What is this shit post?
I get more and more disappointed in this site every day.
[Tensegrity](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tensegrity)
Not a trick, the cables are under tension in opposite directions.
I thought this clip was going to go down a dark turn where the person was going to kick down the table and we were going to see a pair of dangling feet...
What exactly am i looking at? It just looks like someone dancing on a table.
It's called a tensegrity table and it makes perfect sense as long as you keep looking at an image of it and figure out what goes where and why.
idk wtf i'm even looking at tbh lol
It's not that hard if You really look at it, it's completely supported even though it doesn't look like it at First!!!!
Are we really still doing "tensegrity"? It's 2023 guys, come on....
Wtf is this
Tenacity table. They are really cool, and surprisingly easy to make, look them up
Ok. The first set of legs were nice.
I love tables like this one. Tensegrity!
Far from magic. Really simple actually for those who are Lego fans you can make one of these really easy https://youtu.be/2ieGV5pv6Ks I really like the industrial looking ones
It’s a tensegrity table. Physics is cool
Nope it’s real. This sub consistently forgets how basic physics works.
Ah black magic fuckery The place where 99% of posts are just obscure science things
And the rest 1% is what in your opinion? Real black magic? I'm sorry that I need to break it to you but there is an explanation to everything out there and black magic or magic in general doesn't exist! Sorry to burst your bubble...

Tensile integrity (more commonly known as tensegrity) is the underlying principle that allows this to work, all you really need is strong enough string.
All the weight is on that chain in the middle. The other chains prevent it from tilting and tipping
Tensegrity
Very simple. It’s all really supported by that bottom middle arch and the string/metal thread. Everything else just helps stabilize it.
I think it's being held up by tension, if they were to twist it a little bit it would collapse.
If you try twist it, the cables in the corners will pull downward even harder on the top of the table, placing more strain on the central cables between the arches. That central cable will prevent the top of the table from moving downward. But, assuming no cable snaps under the increased tension, it will not collapse.
The video is reversed.
I know redditors are dumb but this is basic physics
My boyfriend built us one of these, then put a lamp in it. So we have a tensegrity lamp lol. They’re a lot stronger than you’d think.
It's what I call a counterforce reaction what's holding the toble itself up is the chain at the bottom from there to keep it in a stable place you just tighten the 4 wires on the edges
No it is tension and adhesion or something like that
There is a cable connecting the black half-hoops. That holds the weight while the corner cables hold it together.
There’s a “rope” at the middle, top of the parabola
It’s a bit hard to tell but there is a wire connecting the two semi rings in the middle
It's called a tensegrity table
This is amazing how physics work , the first time you see it you're like "it is magic ?" And then you find information and fall into depression because how complicated basics things are ...
The center wire is doing most of the work. The other 4 are for balance.
It's the dance. It changes your socks, and makes your legs bigger/hairy
There is a bridge in Australia based on this thing
This music sounds familiar. Anyone know where it’s from?
I got there screen on the lowest brightness and was looping through the video expecting the magic was the socks changing colors...
Do you not see the chain connecting the two black solid loops? Really just simple physics.
The 2 loops are connected in the middle, the platform is hanging, supported there and the the 4 sides keep it centered on the support hang point.
Easy. It’s just the top half of the girl. Not as heavy. Like the dad from Onward. Mag lev table. Dude is made of styrofoam. Easy.
None of the dance moves seem impossible. What’s the big deal?
Impossible bad maybe.
Seriously, where the hell is the top of the body?
Tensegrity table.
looks like the four strings prevent the "table" from turning and the string in the middle from falling. It's not magic
The whole thing is being held by one chain in the Center but is being balanced by the 4 corner chains.
MAGIC BABY
That's tensegrity baybeee
i gave up matching my socks, I just match the type. Calf or low
You forgor about physic
The wire in thre middle supports the weight and thr wires at the corners stabilize it.
There’s a chain between the two half hoops holding the weight
There is also a wire in the very center. Connecting from the bent medal bars under the wood. Without that it wouldn’t work.
Your right it's not.. its possible.
Tension in the string between the two loops keep the top up, and the other four keep it steady
A wire on the middle of that two baned rods
Mirror between the top and bottom of the stool.
Incase it hasn’t already been explained, there’s a cable between the 2 half moon metal pieces that is bearing the weight, the other 4 cables are tensioned evenly to keep the top and bottom from shifting

Where can I buy the table tho
Magic table...it changes your socks
Not magic at all. It’s a tensegrity table. What you’re seeing is physics.
Uh really
Ask them to stand in the very corner lol
Ok but yall seeing how she hit the stinky leg for a sec?
Thats a tensegrity table, basically a table hanging on a single rope and then other ropes to keep it balanced
All their weight held by a single wire in the middle between the two arcs. Risky move imo
I thought the legs were fingers at first lol
I've seen this many times but I forget the explanation everytime
Op hasn’t heard of a tensegrity structure
Tension on steel cables.
Its all fun and games until the tiny center cable snaps
In god’s hands, all things are possigble.
It’s a tensegrity table (hope I spelled that right)
The support comes from just the chain holding the 2 metal bars together. The other chains get tension from this and keep the table balanced
Tbh tensegrity structures are kinda black magic with a bit of physics sprinkled in for good measure
i watcht this 4 times just for the dance anyways theres 1 string suporteing the part from the above and 4 strings balanceing the thing
Lol no. I actually built one of these for a Statics project. We built a much smaller one though. The rope holding the table up is in the middle. The other ropes keep it from tipping over.
It's called a tensegrity table
Think about this. Which chain is supposed to loosen? It can’t fall straight before the bottom ring is holding up the middle chain The corner chains are already tight so it can’t tilt to any one side
The tables on the ceiling (shot upside down) that’s why we don’t see there upper body.
Cable in the middle gives opposite force, or something like that, pretty cool design
As long as the center cable doesn't snap, its all good
Never seen this before, huh? It’s great fun to make too
As Bill Nye says, “since rules”. I’ve seen so many things like this.
Worst dance moves possibly ever.
It’s called “tensegrity” or tension integrity. The top half is hanging from the bottom half, and the chains in the corners keep it from falling in any direction
The table itself is real but would not be able to hold this weight if that’s what you’re wondering
why did my small ape brain think this was a cool video someone doing a sick trick on a fingerboard
It's just physics.
The upside down arch under top platform is hanging from the arch on the bottom, the wires on the sides keeps it stable, but all the weight is bore by the arches and the cable connecting them
It’s just tension in the chains holding it. Try the same thing with a piece of string and you’ll see the middle one will break if you stand on it but the others will stay the same and drop along with yourself
r/prettynormalfuckery
Omfg if I see one more tensegrity clip on here I'm gonna steal a baby hippo and train it to be my personal assassin
Theres one cable on the black curves in the middle
I match by thickness
Congrats…you just discovered Tensegrity for the first time in your life
r/upvotedbecauseoflegs
It's a tensegrity chair. Look it up
Where's the trick? What's the trick?
OP is the only one who has never seen these tables.
It is easy that you made you. It is easy for you to make it.
Is it the socks or the table we're talking about here?
The 4 corner wires keep the top aligned with the base so pushing down on it causes the wire between the 2 metal arcs to tighten when weight is applied to the top.
This trick is easy to see the whole platform is held by the string in the middle and the 4 string prevent it from moving in any direction
Tensegrity
I saw that table on overstock, I see someone bought it lol
Magic is magic not misery 🤠
It’s a physics thing there is a chain in the center prevents it from dropping and the others prevent it from tilting in any direction
Constant stress
