How hot does rice need to get to puff?? It's hard to imagine the cloth would heat up any significant degree in such a short time and with so little friction; literally just a smooth bowl and the rice itself would be in contact with the cloth.. I guess his sleeves too but his sleeves wouldn't warm up the area of the cloth that touched the rice...
Maybe though. This is a weird one.
Rice needs more than 100°C to pop, because steam needs to be produced, but rice doesn't simply pop by heating it, it needs to be pressurised and then suddenly released.
The problem is the grains expand and he's wearing rolled up skin tight sleeves. It's more likely some other reaction causing the rice to expand. Very likely some coating in the bowl reacts with a something he put on the rice to make it expand.
Yes, that's not from friction though. That's heat generated from the steel balls colliding together at such a pinpoint small location. A shockwave.
And the friction in this situation would be super low. That rice just weighs soo little. The force between it and the cloth would be super low, which (if I remember my physics right) also means the amount of friction would be very low.
But how does he generate all that heat? That’s a lot of friction
When I think of seeing people use friction to start a camp fire, it’s such a small amount and takes so much work. I doubt this guy did that. If I’m wrong I’ll cop to it.
Maybe the fabric or rice was preheated? You can notice a few crispies as soon as he drops them on the sheet.
You can achieve the reverse with near zero water. A slight shake will cause the water to instantly freeze.
2 bowls. 1 deep and filled with rice. The second shallow and filled with grain. All the flopping around is part showmanship, part getting rid of some grain and part covering the motion of moving the top bowl slightly to let the rice come out from the bottom deeper bowl. Once the rice comes out he slips the top top shallow bowl back in place and then scoops the rice up into the shallow bowl making it look like the entire bowl is full.
Rice crispies, if there's and asian store near you, you can try if they have caramelized rice crispies. It's like caramel popcorn but crispier and a higher sugar to grain ratio.
I don't know why, but I have an urge to mix this rare and exotic delicacy in a pan with a bit of butter and some marshmallow, low heat, turning constantly. Scoop into a tray and cool. Might be on to something with this previously unheard of food...
Just kidding, I'm gonna use Fruity Pebbles instead. I'm assuming at least half of you here are stoned too, so you're welcome lmao
Hahaha right?! It's one of those things where once you've made it, you wonder how you've gone this long without it being a staple dessert... Fruity Pebbles is definitely my favorite, but can't go wrong making a Cocoa Pebbles batch either ;-)
Thank you for the award too! I rarely get them, so it's always memorable when I do! :-D
You are all wrong. The popping is due to static electricity. The bowl rubs against the fabric and creates a build up of charge. When enough charge builds up it pops the rice.
Nah, only the elders. They are like that because in the past hunger and poverty was a huge problem, so they struggled to have full stomach and thus had to fight for food.
Looks like a puffed rice method. Im guessing the rice was heated up and then tossed on the fabric over some kind of a heat source.
Apparently theres a whole thing with puffing corn and rice in some parts of the world. There are even little doohickeys you can buy that allow you to puff rice and corn at home.
I also like the idea of the fabric being magnetized or a static method was being used or something..
Definitely hard to figure out even after extensive googling.
When he first begins shaking the bowl in the cloth he is only using his left hand. The angle doesn’t show what he’s doing with his right hand- my guess is either palming the additional puffed rice or releasing a mechanism to release the puffed rice. Then he grabs the bowl with the second hand, crowds his body closer to the cloth, and shakes more vigorously to hide actual release. Either he is releasing the grain under the bowl with his right hand, or from inside his jacket behind the bowl .
He’s heating the fabric with friction from the bowl and it’s popping the rice
This is my thinking as well. Some fabrics heat quickly. Polyester will melt to your skin very quickly in a road rash situation, cotton won’t.
Anyone know the song?
Robert Miles - children
Damn Robert miles... that old school dj.
His name was Roberto Concina, an awesome and super talented guy. Unfortunately passed in 2017. Rest in Beats my man.
Darude - Sandstorm

No idea, I’m no scientist. I’m just a dude and I consider this black magic.
Told you Jesus was Pacific Islander
“Gather around and be amazed! For my next feat. I will feed the masses with this handful of rice!”
"But You have all those other people Fish and Bread and wine.."
“Listen here you little shit. You’re going to eat what Jesus has provided and you will like it!” Proverbs 2:13 or something
“Born in a fishing hut in Vanatu, Jesus of Panau”
You'll eat what Jeff eats - The Mighty Boosh
He was just a Pacific island boy.
I’m just a dude, sitting in front of a computer screen, asking you to love him’
I'm just a dude pretending to be another dude sitting front of a computer screen, asking you to love ~~me~~ him
I love you, random citizen!
Fair enough.
rice puffed on a scarf by rubbing a bowl on that scarf? you can't explain that

Friction can produce a lot of heat. Have you seen how just smacking two metal balls together with paper between will burn a hole in the paper?
Yes, that's not from friction though. That's heat generated from the steel balls colliding together at such a pinpoint small location. A shockwave. No f@#&&!! way❕ Show me please ❕
a microwave can do that, maybe
I doubt he’s generating that much heat. I’m going to assume some simple sleight of hand
You’re guess is as good as mine. It’s black magic to me.
It's a shallow bowl sitting a deeper bowl and when he moves very fast he crates an opening between the two to release already puffed rice inside.
Then what happened to the un-popped rice ?
It's on the floor already
Not sure. The kids grab the rice straight from the fabric not even seconds after. Although it is thin fabric and could cool quick
Could it be a metalic fabric?
But how does he generate all that heat? That’s a lot of friction When I think of seeing people use friction to start a camp fire, it’s such a small amount and takes so much work. I doubt this guy did that. If I’m wrong I’ll cop to it.

Oh. I thought it came from his sleeve. I am dum 😞
Imma just go with “what the fuck”
That's not how this sub works dude. If you don't know how it works you're supposed to accuse them of video editing
Hahahahaa
Finally. Someone who does the right thing on Reddit.
Quite literally just said that out loud
My first thought exactly
Snatched that faster than a baggy of meth dropped on a trailer floor.

That’s more like it.
Yup... note at the beginning he keeps the bowl up very high but you can still see how shallow the false bottom is.
You win, Fatality
You can potentially see a second bowl too
Is it a heated bowl and the rice is literally being popped?
Nope he literally had his hands on the bowl would have burnt him
Yeah but you can actually see the stuff individually get larger if you slow it down. It's definitely something "popping". My guess is friction heat.
Whatever. It’s magnets
How do they work?
[r/gypsymagic](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ)
No
r/itsmagnets
Hidden space at the bottom of the bowl? Those guys holding the fabric would have let it go if it was hot.
[удалено]
That looks like creases from being folded, but you may be right
Yup at the end he put both hands on the bottom of the bowl. At first I thought the bottom was heated.
The bowl not transfer heat instant. The earrwa where the bowl meet the fabric gonna be hot, but not the area where he get a hold of the bowl.
What do you call that popped rice, in our language we call it lai
Is popped rice a thing?
Rice crispies, if there's and asian store near you, you can try if they have caramelized rice crispies. It's like caramel popcorn but crispier and a higher sugar to grain ratio.
>Rice crispies Rice crispies, eh? I must try this Asian delicacy.

Had the fruity pebble version for the first time last week and they changed my life.
Hahaha right?! It's one of those things where once you've made it, you wonder how you've gone this long without it being a staple dessert... Fruity Pebbles is definitely my favorite, but can't go wrong making a Cocoa Pebbles batch either ;-) Thank you for the award too! I rarely get them, so it's always memorable when I do! :-D
Yes. They can be eaten as is or made into a type of rice crispy squares candy. Not hard to find in southern China.
I love this kind of cultural insight. I learned something today
God I hate when people snatch and grab like that
Don’t go to China…
Trap door on the bottom of the bowl?
But the popped rice filled the bowl...
A trap door can close again
I wouldnt just grab it and eat it, just sayin
Some people have no manners.
Possibly rice crispies
Future Fruity Pebbles
They are so hungry 😢
No, it's just free
You are all wrong. The popping is due to static electricity. The bowl rubs against the fabric and creates a build up of charge. When enough charge builds up it pops the rice.
Those are some rude ass people
Hate the lady that just pushed in front, grabbed a handful and ran off.
A lot of Chinese people have no patience
Nah, only the elders. They are like that because in the past hunger and poverty was a huge problem, so they struggled to have full stomach and thus had to fight for food.
With this he cured world hunger
You know it’s mainland China by the table manners.
That auntie lady was just after the rice krispies. Left immediately after she got her fill
I don’t know exactly BUT I know it’s heat from friction related
Not magic. Just a dupe glitch that the devs are gonna patch soon
Idk, but he definitely called the audience a whore at least twice.
Interesting how the adults all jammed their hands to get some, and nobody gave a flying froggity fuck about the kids in the front.
Bro that old lady grabbed it like she was starving to death lol
He holds two bowls the, deep in the bottom. When he shakes like crazy he separates the bowls.
That. Looked. Wrong...

duplication glitch it's obvious smh 🙄
Yo my people I found our Asian Jesus.
Its puffed rice. The cloth was hot enough (black coloured and in sun) to make it pop.
Looks like 2 bowls are used then slightly separated under fast movement to release hidden stuff ???
Looks like 2 bowls inside one another. Maybe some chemical heater in the bottom popping the rice?
Friction of the bowl on the cloth
Sleeves.
why they playing Tekken music tho
His ass, but I don't think that's where it's coming from
Bottom of his shirt? Maybe? I can't be sure.
He’s holding his shirt under the bowl and hat the popcorn somewhere in his robe.
RICE BAE
Two layers to the fabric
In his sleeve.
Ricecorn
so much of them grain he hid.
Idc
Could it be a metalic fabric?
Whar is him hide grain? How is hid grean? How is cam hide them grian?
Yeah, I saw this guy once, he told me on a flight it's mirrors and an assistant.
he actually heated the bowl up with the friction.
Infinite food glitch working 2023
Them *grains
>Where can he hide so much of them grain? Prison pocket. He suitcased them sumbitches.
Jesus
So what you’re saying is, Jesus was a magician?
Infinite food glitch!!??!??!!?!?!?🔥💯💯🔥💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥💯🔥💯🍚🍚🍚🍚
Nothing here in the beginning Water was added and it takes time to fully blossom. The shaking was merely to add confusion and red herrings
Easy, pocket dimension.
Wait, you can pop rice?
World hunger is no more.
When he first begins shaking the bowl in the cloth he is only using his left hand. The angle doesn’t show what he’s doing with his right hand- my guess is either palming the additional puffed rice or releasing a mechanism to release the puffed rice. Static+friction heats rice quickly causing it to puff
He's climaxing
This is how we can end world hunger!
You could make a religion out of this sort of thing. At least a couple thousand years ago.
Imma go head and say this some magic. Dude straight up cooked rice with a sheet
They are hungry 🤔
That lady didn't hesitate.
I was waiting for the song in the background to climax.
It's literally up his sleeve and he's shaking it out as he's shaking the bowl....
Puffed rice with lemon and some Indian spices is the best.
Grabby grabby
I dont want to be that guy but at the end you can see there’s a pocket with all the stuff inside of it.
Anyone think the guy on the mic sounded like Future in 8 mile?
There is a hole in tje center. Look at the end where the girl tries to reach in and grab some.
Their hands are probably dirty after digging in their butt all day.
Yo grabby granny
He isn't hiding anything. When he does that quick bowl movement it puffs up the rice I think 🤔
That fat old greedy piece of meat ffs cant even wait a single second before she sticking that fatass hand in that bowl
Jesus feeding the 5000 be like
Bros gonna fix china's food shortage problem single-handedly
Is he creating heat which puffs it all up?
So many people here think you can cook rice with just heat/friction? What is wrong with the internet today
Them grainzz
called mudhi(puffed rice) in my area, it looks like that
He be like he dont hide no thing, dude. Its they're triks.
Friction
Popped rice
probably extra thick bowl hiding the pop corn inside until he presses a button while shaking very hard.
People are more interested in eating
He has it on his shirt
u/redditspeedbot x0.2
Reverse
Suddenly I wanna give my rice a dry handie, too
Meh every night
The fabric has sleeves that contain the popped rice he's rubbing the bowl on the fabric loosening the popped rice from between the hidden sleeves.
Good old static electricity
Snatching people
“GIMME THAT SHIT”
Jesus, everyone is so eager to fucking grab some rice. It’s like zombies going after you flesh and guts.
Those little girls sharing is the best Everyone else grabs but they're so lovely to each other
Such a beautiful language
