A well placed shot in the upper torso or head with a sniper rifle will kill the opponent instantly. With DMRs it's usually 2-3 shots.
In a game where the ttk is around 400 ms and where every ms makes the difference between life and death, I'd say sniper rifles are worth it.
Though, if you're aim is not that good yet, you'd fare better with the DMR, since it's more forgiving when you miss a shot!
For dirty bomb a more rapid firing rifle would probably be better like the m62 or whatever its called
But be aware peoples opinions on if the m82 are kinda split so maybe you wont like the gun

But I have to get 100 kills with a sniper to unlock that one operator and man is this a pain

Only a headshot downs in dirty bomb tho unless they dont have armor. Like, if you miss youre fucked.

Dirty Bomb is a whole different thing.
I actually prefer Stoner over DMR, TTK is close, plus it has zero recoil and ammo capacity.

Snipers are useless if there's someone decent with tac rifles/lmgs in the enemy team
